Not a fan. They automatically charge a 20% tip for parties of 1 or larger. Really. I felt prices were high. The menu needs to be updated the prices are not on there correctly. I will not return. 3 people for lunch and drank water for a beverage.....over 90.00 My fault for not asking prices that I didn't know. Portions were small on the sides. This was our first time visiting this establishment. It was ok, we enjoyed our waiter he was nice and very attentive. The food we ordered was good, hot, and fresh. There were barely anyone there upon our arrival. People started coming in after a little while. The food took a while to come. I've always enjoyed Montego Grill, the food never disappoints and always tastes great. Last night, we called in to place an order for two Jerk Chicken Dinners. Since my boyfriend doesn't eat pork, we inquired if pork was in the Greens and they told us that they don't put any meat in their vegetables so he ordered the Greens and Mac & Cheese with his dinner and I ordered the Candied Yams and Mac & Cheese with mine. When we arrived to pick up our food, the restaurant was very clean and had a few people dining in. Our food was ready as soon as we arrived. Their Beef Patties were on display and looked very appetizing so we ordered two of them. The cakes also looked mouthwatering so the lady suggested we try the Carrot Cake. We spent about $45 for everything which wasn't too bad. Since we wanted a light amount of jerk sauce, they provided the sauce in separate containers for us to pour on our chicken. My meal came with about two legs, a thigh and another smaller piece of chicken but my boyfriend's dinner seemed to have mostly chicken backs which included more bones than meat, he was not very happy about that. The Jerk Chicken tasted amazing though. The Jerk sauce wasn't too spicy and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. The Mac & Cheese wasn't all that great and I didn't enjoy the Candied Yams, they needed more sugar. The Greens also weren't that great and had a sweet taste to them. The Beef Patties were a 10/10 and even though the lady said they were mild, they still had a very slight level of spiciness to them. The Carrot Cake was also pretty good but it included raisins, which I hate, so I had to eat around them. When we return, we will definitely be checking our order if we decide to do "take out" to ensure the pieces of chicken are sufficient but overall, the chicken was wonderful! read more

This place was a big let down. I hadn't been here before, but took my friend who had never had Jamaican food before. Coco bread: 6/10 the ends tasted stale. Oxtail and cabbage: 8/10; honestly those were the best things I had. Fried Plantain: 6/10: tasted like they were just reheated and not fresh. Rice and Peas: 4/10: so disappointing. Tasted old and like it was just reheated. Very dry and I needed to use the gravy from the oxtail to make it palatable. Not worth the price at all. I decided on a whim to give this place a try and it was a good taste of flavor. I especially enjoyed the collard greens, more than usual. Super flavorful and delicious. The steamed cabbage threw me off since it had peas and carrots in there. Now I normally don't eat it that way nor did I expect, but it would've been nice to have it listed as a veggie mix if that's how it's normally served. The jerk chicken was good, but was super cautious to enjoy since the sauce was quite an abundant amount and was dripping all over the rest of the items in my bag. I had to wipe down everything before I could eat. I would suggest offering a little, some, or a lot of sauce option OR put the sauce in a separate sealed container. That way it doesn't mess up the rest of the bagged items or your cloth car seat during transport. The DG Kola was delicious as well. A nice meal to end the week. read more

Montego Island Grill is my absolute go to for jerk chicken or any island food. Randy the owner is awesome and the ladies there that help in the front are great. The Reggie pasta is my favorite. This pasta is better than any pasta I've had anywhere. It is my all time favorite. I also really love the wings here. More than BBW or Dirty Buffalo and I still like those places. What is the really great, but strange thing to me is that I love the spice here and I do not get heartburn. I don't really know what is different. I have always enjoyed Montego Grill, however my last two visits there were not good experiences. I ordered jerk chicken (white meat) which costs a little more, rice and peas, plantains. I got my food to go when I got home with it, I was so disappointed. The chicken had been microwaved it was so hard it was not edible. The plantains I ordered were not in my to go order so I called the restaurant to speak to a manager. The manager was very nice offered me a free meal next time I went in. I went to redeem the free meal about 3 weeks later. I was denied a meal that was equal to what I had ordered the first time. I am very disappointed in that the manager did not hold up her end of the agreement to replace my meal. Even more disappointed that the food was not good the second time around. Quality of food drops drastically in the evening especially before closing. I ordered 2 jerk chicken dinners and they appear to be made at different times if thats possible. In one meal the chicken is undercooked and the sauce was everywhere (most likely from delivery). The greens were old and full of stems. The second meal had the sauce on the side and greens looked fresh. In both meals the sauce was not very flavorful. Not at all disappointed. The pasta was al Dante. The preparation was terrific and the food was plentiful. Four good size pieces of chicken (all dark meat!) topped off the dish. Impetus for this place was to try something different, something to "spice up" the same old same old. Montego did the trick. One point of consideration Montego would be to purchase larger salad to-go containers because the portion was rather small. It was good, but small. Came in for lunch on a Sunday, and the restaurant was empty. Like literally, we had to go to the kitchen door to find someone. Our food took about 45 minutes for wings and fried seafood. Plastic silverware, condiments in packets, food served in styrofoam, and plastic cups. When asked, we were told our food would be ready in five minutes; that was 45 minutes.
