For the money this place has got about as bad as you can imagine. Shoes that had liners and coushins a year ago have been replaced with cheaper moidel shoes that have foam bottoms and rough leather surfaces. $100 pairs of sheos that fall apart within hours. Jessica refuesed my return withing 24 hours and refused to hear out the reasoning. After years and thousands of dollars spent, that was my last. Dont shop here. read more

DSW is such a relief after going to these other retailers that 'also' sell shoes. This is also not a lounge, one or two brand type of place with leather recliners and big screen TVs with a large entry display showing three shoes. This store is large, open and is loaded like a supermarket with footwear and footwear only! Which means that it is organized and has plenty of every style and size. You won't find floors littered with boxes and mixed shoes lying around. You WILL find actual STAFF available and willing to help. There is some obscure brand I never heard of that the Mrs wanted for jazzercise, and the staff helping us walked us right to that selection. The store is brightly lit, shelves are easy enough to look over to see the signs depicting brands, prices are also much better here. Next time I'm looking for Skechers for under $75 I know where to go. Don't get it wrong though, they also have some really top of the line brands as well. I like this place because when you focus on one thing and one thing only, it gets done well. 5 stars for organization, pricing and variety. read more

I ordered a pair of black TOMS online in a 9.5 because that's the size I wear.They came and they were too big. I knew we were coming to Eugene to meet my Mom so I decided to come return them at this store. I didn't want to do an exchange because I didn't know if they had a 9. When I got there the lady who helped me was awesome. She refunded my money and we walked to where the TOMS were and she asked did I think I could be in an 8.5 because that's what they had. I tried them on, walked around and they fit! I was shocked. All shoes fit differently, but I didn't think it would be that drastic. Yay! I paid $35.00 online and so she priced matched it for me in store because it was $55.00. I was so grateful for her help and price adjustment. I highly recommend DSW in Eugene. read more

I just had the absolute worst experience at DSW that I've ever had. Thank goodness a nice young lady named Jaden was there to help me. The other 2 ladies that were there were very unhelpful and they looked at me and one of them was cackling as I walked out with 6 pairs of shoes in my hand. Before Jaden helped me I asked if there was another size in a pair of the shoes I ordered and she just said " yeah if we have them it would be between the sandals and the heels". I said well I don't really want to leave all six pairs of shoes here or take them over there with me and she turned around and said "Ya". This is while I just watched her help someone else take their shoes to their car. Jaden thank you. Bought two 100 dollar gift cards for christmas promo. Suppose to get two $25 gift card sent to me for today for doing so. Didn't come. Contact company. They gave me a 20 dollar o line discount only. I was suppose to use it at store so I could try on shoes and was suppose to get $50. Then had to hurry to pick shoes online. Not even sure if right size so I could get discount. The guy on phone said so. So picked pennies. Not sure even if I like them or if right size. Rather them send me my gift card I can prove i was suppose to get. Not happy. read more

I love the DSW near me here in Redmond, WA, and I get a lot of our family's shoes and boots and purses there. So I was bummed out when the purse I got there a few years ago sustained a broken main zipper while travelling to Oregon recently. This purse was PERFECT for me; just like a custom wallet, this purse had the perfect compartments for me, was the perfect size and shape and weight, and it was like it was made just for me. You ladies out there, you KNOW what I'm talking about, right? And how hard it is to find a perfect purse or wallet for your needs and style? I was on a mission of desperation, to get a new purse, and I wanted it to be just like the one that just broke. (Silly, I realize that, but desperate times call for irrational thinking). I couldn't go on with a broken zipper on my purse, risking all the purse contents falling out (worst timing, too, on my trip). So I decided to go to the source: perhaps DSW would have my exact same purse, even though it was a few years after I purchased it, and in another state, yet. I knew chances were slim that they'd have it in stock, but I had to try, so we ventured to this store on my quest. This store was way smaller than the DSW near my house and the purses were different than those in the Redmond store (I had just visited my home DSW a few days earlier), and they didn't have my exact, beloved purse. BUT they had something similar, which I snatched up. It's not exactly the same and I'm not crazy about the main external compartment, but it's close enough. And the girl at the cash totally sympathized and "got it". Despite this being a smaller-scale DSW and probably having a smaller selection than other stores, I found what I needed here, at a good price, and the girl at the cash was really nice. I had a problem with my online order that I was to pick up at my local DSW. I was not getting a confirmation notice after I made online payment. I made the order after four so I waited till the next morning to see if I would get a confirmation or that my pick up order was ready. When I still had not gotten either, I did call and ask about my order, and after getting hung up on and calling back I received some help. Even though my order was not confirmed they went ahead and pulled the shoes, but said my other item was not in stock. When I was going to go to pick up my shoes a confirmation did come across in an email. I showed the confirmation to the sales person at the register and she had some trouble finding my shoes. After finding them she rang the purchase up on the register but did not give me a receipt. She said it was sent in an email. It was not. I asked for the receipt because I wanted to know the final price and if my rewards came across on this purchase. She had difficulty in getting me a receipt and asked the help of the manager. The manager seemed upset with the sales person for not doing something on the register. She got me my receipt. It did not include my rewards so I had to ask for that. I felt like I was a big bother to this manager. Poor customer service. read more

I really like it when salespeople actually act like they care about whether I spend my money at their business, but I've come to expect that they won't. So when I was looking for a specific pair of boots that I saw on the DSW website and I called their store to see if they had it, I was pleasantly surprised to hear "Thank you for calling DSW! This is Steve! How can I provide you with excellent customer service?" Sure, sure, I thought - they make you say that - chances are you going to just say whatever you have to say to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. Wrong! As soon as I told Steve what I wanted, he asked me if I wouldn't mind waiting just a moment so he could go out onto the floor to make sure they had my size. When he came back he apologized sincerely and told me that unfortunately there was not one in the size that I was looking for. He did advise me how I could get the boot rushed delivered from the website and seem to actually feel sorry that they didn't have it in the store. A few minutes later, he called me back to tell me that another customer had apparently been trying them on in another part of the store and he could hold the boots for me. I was returning a pair of shoes and the girl who was helping me was super sweet. She was having a little trouble because of my card. Anyways she made a small mistake (no big deal) and and the lady standing to her was being so rude making her feel really bad about it. It was sad to watch how mean she was being. I purchased a pair of winter shoes (wool lined) here midsummer taking advantage of the low out of season prices and obviously waited till it cooled off to wear them. After sitting in my closet for about 3 months I decided it was cool enough to finally bust them out, in about 3 hours of wearing them in class a metal clasp book off. I called DSW later that day and they said they would get me a full refund of in store credit for the shoes. DSW was under no obligation to do so, however took it upon themselves to make things right. Sometimes the employees are uncomfortable here. Employees do not have to be nice or kind, but definitely have to not be mean-spirited, judgmental or nasty. I really don't care about getting kindness from employees, just consistency. I'm looking for a civil and efficient employee who doesn't appear to need friendship from customers and doesn't expect me to have inappropriate needs/ feel they should cater to any inappropriate needs on my part. I don't need to be smiled at, for instance, when I am not smiling or even when I am smiling. Not reciprocating is not an insult either. I like to be told whether or not I am required to give information, and detest being made to give personal information before a purchase without being told why. I go to the counter to buy and leave. SInce I am a stranger, it is only comfortable for me to be treated as a stranger. The employees here need to work on being more grounded and appropriate with customers, as they are not. I am not a mean person, but I really don't like to have prolonged unexpected interactions with people. This is not really a professional-feeling store because they will waylay you at the cash register and smile nervously at you for ages. I'm not used to Eugene and I don't really like it here. read more
