This review solely (heh) concerns the shoe repair shop. You access the shoe repair through the store. It's a nice place, although getting in and out of the parking lot sucks due to speed, blind corners, and giant hill coming in and out. The shoe repair prices are lower than at other shops, and the work is good. I recently dropped off three pairs. They call you when the shoes are ready. A week and a half later I was in the area, and decided to call to see if they were ready. Well. First thing to know about Burch's shoe repair - they usually don't answer the phone. You need to leave a message and the "counter girl" will later return your call. So I decided to come in to check. That was a mistake. You ring the doorbell and, well, I guess I must have interrupted some shoe repair, because this guy was not happy to see me, brusquely telling me I will be called when the shoes are ready. Fine. I later picked up the shoes. One pair looked a little different, but I figured it was just that I had not seen the shoes in a while. At home, I realized my heel cups were missing. The insoles for my boots were returned. So I called them (left a message of course) and asked if they had them. She later called me to say they didn't see them. *I* certainly don't have them, and I have reason to believe I left them in like I did the other pair. So I asked her if they would compensate me to replace the heel cups. I agreed with her that a big fat $10 would be enough - although driving back and forth to this dumb shop is costing me some too. She called back after speaking with the boss, who said that it is "against policy" to compensate me for what they lost, and it's "my responsibility" that I didn't remove the heel cups before dropping the shoes off, which was news to me. Anyway, they do get a star simply because the repairs are good. And this review unfortunately has nothing to do with the shoe store; if they want to conglomerate the reviews this is what you get. read more

This outlet is not very comfortable feeling with its setup. Racks of single shoes to browse and requirements to then depend on the staff for assistance. I dislike being forced to interact when I can find what I'm looking for without assistance of any kind. It's cool they offer shoe repair. It's uncool they have separate desks for repair and checkout. So you can easily walk up to the repair desk thinking you can check out but you're redirected to the sales desk that is unmanned and unmarked. They seem to think everyone coming in has been there prior and should know the drill. Very uncomfortable for first time buyers. The staff is nice and didn't feel pushy. That's why I'm not mad and wouldn't not recommend it. But it's a very uncomfortable way to get high end shoes that they offer. If I'm buying $150+ Danskos, I'd like a bit more structure and comfort while shopping. I appreciate the selection of size 11 women's shoes, so they're good for people with often overlooked feet sizes! read more

I purchased these Keen's from them last summer, and one of them is falling apart. I went into the store today and was first told I must have stabbed them with something (that never happened) and then was told they wouldn't replace them because they couldn't locate the purchase. So I guess their return-avoidance policy is (1) blame the customer; and (2) make the customer responsible for the information they put in their system. This review is for the shoe repair. All I asked was for the replacement of the insole lining of some Mephisto sandals. I was in for a shock when I came in to pick them up. They looked far, far worse than when I brought them in. The insoles they used were a thick, shaggy suede, totally unsuited for the style of the sandal. And way different than what was originally there. I guess I should have had them show me exactly what insole replacement they were going to use, in which case I would have said 'No thank you'. And the insole was so unevenly cut. I could hardly believe it. Furthermore, I can no longer slide my right foot all the way into the sandal (perhaps due to the replacement insoles being thicker?). Giving them a 1-star because 0 stars are not possible. read more

Very strange experience - had been recommended by my doc to get more supportive walking shoes, so went here to find such... walked in, and a guy came towards me and immediately called over a young woman to help me - she did not greet me, did not smile... did not ask what I was looking for - nothing! I went over to the 10's rack, and pulled out a pair - then saw the label stapled to the bottom and asked what that was - she gave me a condescending look and said "it is a lable" = well that was obvious, but I was wondering why it was stapled into the sole... Shout out for Burch's outlet, but especially their shoe repair. I bought my daughter a pair of calf-high boots at Burch's Oakway several years ago. By far her favorite boots, and she wears them a lot. One of the zippers gave up the ghost and needed to be replaced, plus I figured it would be a good idea to resole both of them and replace the heels. Brian did such a great job! And even though I told him no hurry, the boots were ready when promised and looked practically new! I also have been looking for a pair of walking/exercise sneakers and found the perfect pair there. My wife took two pair of keens in one for repair and the other to replace the laces. They told her two weeks. 16 days later she called to inquire and the repairs were still not done. When we finally got them back the laces were at least 12" too long and the stitching on the other lasted less than two weeks. I couldn't bring myself to call and complain because the way we were treated when we picked them up. I'll find a quality business for repairs in the future. read more

I came in for a pair of Birkenstock Sandals, not knowing what size to buy I was expecting to be fitted. Even gave myself a little pedicure before coming in... the lady asked me what size I normally wear and guessed I'd be in a 41. I tried them on and they were ok but I also tried a 40. The 40's felt very narrow and I was asking her questions trying to figure out if they were fitting correctly because the 40's seemed to be the correct length. She just reiterated what I was asking. "Those seem too narrow? .. Those straps don't feel right?" But never checked if she brought me the narrow fit or if they were actually the regular fit and never even came and looked at what I was talking about trying to help me get the correct size, she just stood way back watching me try on the different shoes. She acted like I disgusted her. I ended up buying the 41's and going elsewhere to get my second pair where they fitted them and I bought a 40. Now I'm stuck with these shoes that aren't the correct size because I've worn them outside. Also, this being an outlet store.. the prices are exactly the same online. Very disappointed. read more

Have to return my shoes for the third time to repair. The first time they didn't sew the strap down and "took a short cut." The second time the glue came loose. Now the entire sole is coming off where they glued it. Unacceptable given they call themselves a shoe repair shop and yet they have damaged my shoes. read more

I'll start by saying that I am happy that the stitching on my shoe is fixed. I brought a pair of tennis shoes in because a small section of the stitching came loose. The work that was done is spotty. My shoes are gray and black stitching was used so it stands out. Also it isn't done in a straight line. It looks as if it was an at home repair. I called every store in town (I'm not exaggerating) Dick's sporting goods, DSW, Running Company, Fred Meyer etc...to find a double wide size 3 for a child who needed new tennis shoes. No one carries them in store or knew what I was talking about. Except for Burch's. I called that morning and they set the pair aside for me, and they were extremely helpful and patient in helping the kiddo try on multiple pairs and styles just to make sure it was the best fit when we came in. They were really patient with him despite his initial resistance about trying on shoes. They also had a carousel which definitely helped engage him as well! Thank you, Burch's! read more

Since moving to Eugene I've found the shoes I want and need at Burch's for a fair (and even at times a bargain) price. But today I feel compelled to write this review because of the fine extra treatment I received from Sarah Alvarado. Shoes I bought from a different store were too tight and she graciously took them to the repair shop for expert stretching. A pair of shoes I bought from Burch's looked scuffed to her and she insisted on polishing them. It is a delight to receive such service and good products but especially satisfying to do so at a family-owned local store far from the anonymity of the big box competitors. I think of Burch's as being a superior shoe store. I have very difficult feet to fit and I have had great success in buying shoes and orthotics there. I am a fan of Keen's brand shoes/sandals and have purchased them from Burch's before (two pairs). This time, however, the new one's left shoe is killing my foot. My older Keen's are still great; these fit differently. I wore them in the house for several days before I started wearing them outside. However, there was no way of knowing that extended 'real-world' use would become intolerable. Certainly my stride outside could not be reasonably assessed in my apartment. I called to explain this and they said they would not accept them back after wearing them under any circumstances! I am shocked by this. Burch's has always been about a superior fit and customer service and these shoes are not cheap. Massively disappointed and Burch's will no longer be my first go-to store. read more

Ended up going to Burches outlet after my daughter was getting some arch pain and supinating. That was last year. The staff was amazing. So much so we do all our shoe shopping there now. We have dealt with multiple sales associates there and they are always very patient, knowledgable, and not trying to push a sale on you. Additionally, they understand that you might be looking for a deal. On multiple occasions they have found full price items on sale or discount for me. Very rarely does a business offer better service for better products at a cheaper cost. We tell everyone we know about them and will probably shop there for as long as we are in Eugene. read more
