Say that pair of shoes you ordered from the website doesn't fit? No big deal; you can bring them here to return, and there's a 90 day return policy. My latest trip here was unplanned. I was out doing errands and grocery shopping, and my umbrella broke. And of course since it's Eugene, a torrential downpour started. Rather than risk the chance of my purse getting ruined from the rain, I stopped in here before I headed over to Trader Joe's to look for an umbrella. And sure enough, they had a variety of umbrellas to choose from! I ended up getting a good quality umbrella here for $12.99, whereas the cheapest umbrellas across the way at Bed, Bath and Beyond were $18.99. But first, I was not greeted at the door. Then I spent almost 25 minutes looking through the entire store. We are all used to being greeted and then asked if we need help by every salesperson in these smaller clothing stores. So it felt really weird when time went on and on with no word but yet both ladies buzzed around me. One lady spent most of her time at the register desk...she seemed like the manager on duty. We made eye contact twice, and still not a word. The other gal was working at putting back stock on the floor from the dressing room. When I was at the clearance section, she stepped in front of me two different times to put stuff back instead of waiting for me to finish looking through the items. But at least she did say excuse me both times and I moved back. Finally when I was walking back towards the front of the store to leave (by then over 20 minutes from entering) the gal working from the back asked if she could help me. This experience was so awkward that I felt I should leave this review in hopes that they will see this and make an effort in the future (BTW, I was the only customer in the store). I wondered if this might just be a local thing since this is my first time to Oregon. But nope...went to the Kohl's right next door and was treated with all smiles and kindness.

My experience at this American Eagle Outfitters location was frustrating and disappointing. Having them shipped to the store for pickup was the only option offered. When I received an email today confirming that my order was ready, I stopped by after work to pick it up. When I walked in, the associate was on the other side of the store looking at me, yet I had to say twice that I was there to pick up an online order before getting any acknowledgment. I eventually walked over to her, and only then did she greet me and ask how she could help. She had to call another associate for assistance, which I understand. Everyone needs training and support at times. However, what happened next was ridiculous. The second associate came from the back and asked for my pickup code and last name. After I provided the information, both associates wandered into the back of the store and disappeared for approximately 5-10 minutes. They eventually returned to the front to look for my order. They found it at the front of the store, but instead of simply handing it to me, they picked it up and took it back into the stockroom. I then waited another 10-15 minutes with absolutely no communication or explanation about what was taking so long. I was left standing there wondering what on earth was happening. Eventually, they brought my order out. Why send customers an email saying their order is ready for pickup if the store isn't prepared to hand it over? An order marked ready should actually be ready to go, not turn into a 20-minute ordeal with employees wandering around, taking the order back and forth, and leaving the customer completely in the dark. I understand that employees may need assistance or additional training, and I'm not blaming anyone for needing help. However, management needs to establish a more organized, efficient pickup process and ensure employees communicate with customers while they wait. I like American Eagle's products, but this experience was a poor reflection of the brand. Please get your online order pickup process together. Customers shouldn't have to waste their time waiting for an order they were already told was ready.
