I love the clothes horse! It's one of the best (if not the best) resale shops in town for women's clothing and is a great stop for both buying and selling clothes. I find that they appeal to a larger age demographic than Buffalo Exchange and carry a good variety of sizes and styles. I especially think they are the best option for more dress and business casual thrift options. They've changed management over the last couple of years and the new manager has done a great job. The store is well organized and very clean. I highly recommend stopping in and browsing around! Last week brought a few high end items to sell and left feeling quite taken advantage of. They offered an extremely low ball amount for two pairs of boots ( "Old Gringo and Frye) that were in excellent condition, along with a trendy vegan leather jacket. The amount that they paid me for these items amounted to $13 per piece (especially disappointing for the boots that I purchased for $400!) I should have said something- but was in shock at the time. This is my favorite place to shop in Eugene!! theres lots to say. First, their remodel is so cozy and comfortable, the bathroom, complimentary tea & goodies and places to sit are 5/5. The women who work here are all incredibly kind. I have become friends with them just by coming so often. They go above and beyond with service. They're women-owned and it shows in the care and attention to detail they have. Most of my closet has turned into Clothes Horse finds. Usually, thrift store finds are hit or miss for me. They sit around in the closet for the right day for me to wear them. I'm so happy that at the Clothes Horse, it's different! I have found timeless pieces I wear regularly. My boyfriend has been able to find things for himself with the new men's section too. I would say it's more expensive than a Goodwill or St Vinnies, but you're paying for curated, high-quality materials. The instagram story sale also makes it so much easier for me to shop here now that I have a 8-5 job. I can buy off the sale online every Friday, then pick it up in store to see if it fits! The Clothes Horse is magical! Everytime I go in, I am inspired to dress boldly and to have fun with fashion. This shop is hands down my favorite in town. You can sell your clothes you're done with for cash or in store credit (the best option in my opinion!), they are super flexible with returns, they put out new items everyday, and even list on instagram too, which inspires me when I am too busy to make it into the shop! There are lots of sizes, styles, and prices, and there's always a half-off rack. Sometimes, they even have half-off the entire store sales! If I could give it a negative star, I would. I mostly don't care to write reviews but I wish I would have read some negative ones and never went there in the first place. I was in the area to just look around and browse some local stores. I don't exactly know who their target shoppers are but they didn't have anything that is currently in style or my taste at all, but nevertheless since my friend and I decided since we were already there, might as well try something on. I ended up trying on a black dress that was way too loose on me, so I put it back and we walked out. The girl at the counter wasn't helpful and just too busy playing on the phone or something. As we walk out, the cops are there.. and she walks out with the most conniving face and says "Those two stole!". So what, just because we didn't buy something means we automatically stole? Can you imagine how humiliating it is to be accused of theft when I have NEVER stolen anything? We were dumbfounded! I have never been in such a situation. Well the cops took our ID's, got all of out information and we had to go with the cops to show her where I put that damn dress back. And all she says was "Ohh well I didn't see you put it back". IF she was doing her job and actually helping, I'm sure she would have definitely seen us put it back. Not only that, the cops decided to search the car as well just to make sure. I am still in shock about the whole ordeal and cannot believe that it actually happened. Oh and every one staring from the restaurant near by made the whole thing so much better. SO PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SHOP THERE AND SUPPORT THEM! The way I was treated was just awful and I never even received an apology. I took a couple bags of clothes in to sell and was quickly asked if I was looking to sell or trade. They took my bags and invited me to look around, seeming quite nice. Their selection was okay and their prices were pay on most things, and a bit on the high side for others. I found quite a bit I liked, however, that I carried with me for a time. While I was browsing, I could see the girl taking clothes out of the bag and showing them to another employee and laughing, saying not that discreetly "Who wears this? Are you kidding?" She even took a couple of very expensive designer jeans out and made faces, because I assume they weren't "skinny" jeans and so were not in style. After they told me there was nothing they wanted, they asked if I wanted to check out with a few things I was carrying(I was looking to purchase over 100 dollars worth of clothes, with or without credit) and I told them "No thanks. With your shitty attitudes, I'm not interested in buying anything either." I found it very unprofessional how they handled looking at my things. Even if they hadn't wanted any of it, I would have been content with purchasing from their store if they hadn't been so uppity and snooty about it. I took my stuff to Buffalo Exchange who were very nice, and bought more than half of the clothes I brought. Never going back to the Clothes Horse. read more

I asked about the return policy, the cashier told me 30 days return or exchange but have never told me the return is for store credit only. I have shopped in clothes store in my life, it is the first store holding my money and only gives store credit. Even small boutiques have 7 days rerun and get the money back policy. People giving this place a bad review are most likely butt hurt over the fact that the Clothes Horse only bought a few, or none of their clothes/shoes. I've come in to sell my clothes there a few times and they are always very professional. No one working there has ever laughed at my clothes (my clothes are definitely not super fashionable) and whenever I wondered why they wouldn't buy something they've always explained their reasoning to me. Usually with the clothes they don't buy, it's because it simply won't sell in their store or the clothes are too worn. The people working there are super approachable and friendly! Also, the prices are amazing!!! You can find high brand stuff for so cheap. I just bought a fossil bag that looked almost brand new for 38 bucks!! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. When I walked in nobody greeted me, nor was it clear where exactly I needed to go to sell the clothes. When I checked out I also felt like no one wanted to help me. The ladies seemed pretty intent on tasks with the clothing rather than customers. The good news is that they have a great selection, far better than say Buffalo Exchange, they also gave me a fair amount of money for trade even though they didn't take much from what I offered. The problem just lies with the customer service, I just felt like I was a burden rather than a valued customer and that left me feeling pretty disappointed even though I found some great tops. A great selection of clothing here -- I can always find something I love. The racks are organized by size as well as color, which I really appreciate. It makes things easier to find when I am searching for a specific type of clothing item. Their prices are reasonable considering the quality of clothing. Many name brands and good materials -- I found an organic cotton shirt here, and a pair of Not Your Daughter's Jeans, which can be hard to find second-hand AND in good shape. Walked in this morning to sell some of my nicer items and the two ladies at the counter found it more important to finish their personal conversation than to make the only customer in their store feel welcome. I won't step foot in this place again and it is not only because the owner is less than friendly. I went there to sell some things and what I discovered was she does not know much about styles and good clothing. She thought my Nordstrom designer labels were from Target! She also said my boots were "worn out", when in fact they were very nice, higher end, mottled leather boots that are made to look worn in (as is the style). I had a small fortune worth of quite current, barely worn styles she snubbed her nose at. I would assume that if your business is clothing then you ought to keep up with what is out there. Not only does she have an amazing knowledge of quality clothing, she also has impeccable taste. I would say that while some of the selection at the Clothes Horse might be targeted for a late-30's working woman, I can always find something I MUST have, and I'm 21! I love shopping at the Clothes Horse- this resale shop is the best in town! Almost every time I've gone in, I've walked out with something that I loved and wore to pieces. It's easy to spend hours in there, as they're constantly putting out new merchandise while I browse around. There's a great variety of both size and style; I can shop there, my mom can shop there- they have something for everyone! We've found everything, from shoes to dresses to outerwear, and there isn't a better place to look when you're searching for a unique statement piece. Also, be sure to get on the email list, or just check back in frequently - they have killer sales! Don't be scared off by negative reviews from people whose clothes weren't bought! The ladies that work there are perfectly sweet, but are very careful to choose pieces that fit in with the right vibe, season, etc- they won't buy an item just because it's new, a popular brand, or expensive.
