Had an emergency AC outage last night, Dragonfly Mechanical handled the situation brilliantly top to bottom. 1. Left a message on their website on a Sunday night about needing someone to look at our dead AC. 2. Susan contacted us first thing Monday morning, leaving both a phone message as well as a text message. 3. Susan picked up as soon as we called back, told us someone could be by before 3 pm this afternoon. 4. Seth (the tech who came out) sent a call-ahead message at 2:33pm letting us know he was 30 minutes out, and to beep him if there were any issues. 5. Seth was fantastic: informative, honest, and helpful with our questions; found the bearings were shot on the outdoor AC fan and immediately replaced it with one he had in his van. Gave us plenty of thoughtful feedback regarding how long the systems were likely to last, and options when they go (no hard sell at all, just the kind of info you might share with a friend). 6. Finished up quickly, AC is blessedly working great, house temp is dropping. Will definitely contact Dragonfly first next time we need help. Thanks guys! read more

Called them on a Friday at noon. The tech calls me at 4, to make sure, "I still want him to come out". I say, "ok, see you soon". I have no AC at that point, and it is HOT, and a wife and son in my house. He comes out, says he could fill the Freon for 70 bucks a pound but it will most likely leak. Then he tries to fix my other unit, (I have upstairs and down), for 2.5 hours, and can't fix it, and says, "my boss is at a funeral out of town, so there is nothing I can do, but I'll have to charge you for labor." It was $385.00, and he left me with NO FUNCTIONING UNIT, and it WAS HOT all night. Don't use these guys, they are no good. The next day a company came out, and gave us free Freon so that we wouldn't roast, while they worked on our stuff. Don't use Dragonfly, they ripped me of $385 bucks. read more

Our air went out during the night on a Friday. First thing Saturday morning I was searching for repair person since we have lived here only a few years and had not needed service before. Right away the Yelp reviews sent me to Dragonfly. I called, was told via recording to send email which I did and right away received a reply from Ray. He had a couple of other calls before us but showed up promptly and had the air working quickly. Not only that, he did a thorough check of everything. I called the office the following week to sign up for their maintenance plan but Susan said that she needed to look at the paperwork from our repair and call me back. She did, and told me that Ray had checked everything when he was here so we didn't need the plan until the fall. I had Dragonfly come out for their "home inspection" package - a flat fee for a series of tests and checks. I'm buying a house and wanted to know how solid the HVAC system was. Turns out that 2 items were installed incorrectly, there was a leak in the duct work and freon was leaking. All in all, James found $1,400 worth of necessary repairs that my home inspector missed. James was super knowledgeable and took a lot of time to explain everything to me as well as the seller's realtor! His price was excellent and I think signing up for their maintenance program is a no-brainer. It's nice to have peace of mind about our HVAC system and it's nice to finally have one person to call when help is needed. read more

I contacted Dragonfly Mechanical to come replace my drain pan for my evaporator coil, and assumed it had a hole in it (it was leaking water on the ground). Brian came out, was here for 30 minutes & then contacted me and told me "your evaporator is shot, you should probably replace it ($2k-3k), and since you're replacing that you should probably replace the whole unit ($5k-6k)". Obviously the evaporator wasn't shot if my unit was providing cool air... it's just got a hole in the drain pan. I called the main line and told him this was ridiculous, this is like if I have a bad belt on my car & the repair shop tells me I need to get a whole new car. He said something about the government recommending they tell people to go with better units or something. So at the end of the day they charged me a $120 to tell me WHAT I TOLD THEM, and then to tell me that they don't replace just drain pans but they'd love to install a brand new unit for me. Worse than that: he didn't even open anything up to look at my evaporator coil/drain pan to show what the problem was. They may do good work, but I'd recommend heading elsewhere if you have a repair that needs addressing. You'll be buying a new unit before its over. UPDATE: I ended up opening up the unit and finding that this was just a clog in the drain pan. I cleaned it out myself, and called the owner of the company to let him know. He agreed to refund the money I paid, noting that sometimes people make mistakes in the field. I changed my rating from a 1 to a 2 since they refunded me, but I can't help but think that I'm not the first person who's been attempted to be upsold. read more

Very unprofessional! Two trips within one month to clean the clogged drain lines. Replaced the AC capacitor even though it's still working. The worst thing is that the tech connected the wiring for capacitor backwards and caused AC not to work at all. Called the tech again withing three days of last service to check out the problem and he refused to come out. I had to get another AC company to fix this wiring problem! Totally unacceptable and will never use this company again! Be ware! read more

I original found this company on yelp. They were smaller and you often had the owner doing the work. They have expanded and it's rare that the owner does the work. Normally a technician. Positives: they know what they are doing and they will get you in the same time most of the time. Negatives: we had a 3pm arrival and the person didn't come to 7pm (I was informed but like- every hour- he wasn't coming till the next hour, so I was waiting around). It didn't make sense to repair the 20 year old unit but thankfully I had a portable AC handy. I wasn't able to install for my tenants since it was so late and I have children. So I asked dragonfly to install (basically plug in and put vent/hose thing out the window). I figured that was basically the service call since he didn't do any repairs. I was charged $175. I've used these guys for my rentals for at least five years and I'm done. My advice to y'all is give the little companies with less reviews a chance. These companies with all the reviews are price gouging now. read more

This is what "professional" looks like. I had a small episode with my a/c. The system couldn't keep up with the daytime temp but was fine at night. Seth W. arrived and quickly diagnosed the issue as a capacitor going bad. He replaced it and then checked the remainder of the system. I am most impressed with the way the service was done. Kept me informed of arrival time. About an hour before arriving I got a text that he was about an hour away and then another when he was on his way. He kept me informed of what he found and what needed to be done. I have had several bad experiences with other companies so was very glad to see there is a local company that still believes in and delivers prompt, professional service and building trust. The outside temp was 103 degrees and Seth made sure we were able to stay cool indoors. Susan was great at coordinating the service scheduling and starting the excellent customer service. It has been about a month since James of Dragonfly Mechanical replaced my old Lennox system with a new Trane AC/heating system. At first, I was skeptical about trusting anyone to make an overall "change out" of my AC/heating system. My old air compressor died on me, which basically means: I needed a brand new system. Why did I go with Dragonfly Mechanical? In short: I've determined there is truly no one cheaper, and more professional to replace an old AC. James and his team of 4 professional servicemen arrived at 8:45am and they were finished by noon. If I could give a higher rating to the level of professionalism James and his crew exhibited that day, I would give them an "11". After doing research on consumer reviews of Trane systems, I knew James was 'on the ball' with making that choice for his customers. There isn't a better, more efficient system out there to replace an old unit with. I LOVE my new Trane system! And here's the best part: Dragonfly Mechanical is by far the best choice price wise. We just moved in to an older home with a few issues. James came out to check on the problem. Told me to rinse out the condensing unit and plan to replace it (which we were budgeting to do). Said he would talk to an installer about a fix to a duct issue and I haven't heard back from him or the installer in over a week. He left the duct open and didn't even say goodbye when he moved his van for a neighbor to get around him. I found James very rude and not very cooperative towards fixing our problem. I just want to take a minute to talk about the truly excellent experience I had with Paul at Dragonfly. Let's face it: a broken AC on a Texas summer day is truly the 5th Circle of Hell, and these units do like to quit on the weekend. I have never had an AC issue here before, and had no idea who to use; so, I entrusted myself to the Yelp gods and started trying to contact folks at this time on a Saturday night two weeks ago. And, I can tell you that stars on Yelp is no guarantee of a response (one got back 12 days later!). So, it was my good fortune to try Dragonfly. Paul got back to me quickly, on a Sunday no less, and got here exactly when he said he would. I am the sort of guy that appreciates understanding how things work and what I am paying for, and he was quite happy to explain what he was doing, the science, and why. He gave me great pointers on maintenance and how to optimize performance with simple things like keeping the outside unit clean and free of grass and anything that could limit airflow. And, as silly as it sounds, I would swear the thing is colder now than the day I bought the house brand new! Seems impossible, really, but it truly seems like it. All in all, I hate spending big money on an unexpected repair as much as the next guy, but if it had to happen, well, I can't imagine a better experience. A+++! read more

I would like to thank this company for coming out at the last hour to check my A/C to figure out what was wrong the night before I am to close on the sale of my home. The company sent me Brian and he was able to determine the prior a/c person we used for our yearly routine check over charged our freon in the A/C along with not correctly reinstalling our fan causing our system to not perform correctly.
