Our HVAC was blowing cool air in the winter and hot air in the summer. We knew it was time to get a new system. Of course, I went to the big company that I always called for my air conditioning and plumbing. They came out immediately (2 guys), checked the unit thoroughly, and gave me a few options for repair; however, the clear choice was replacing the whole system which was about 18 years old. I thought I was prepared for the cost, but I was not. 22k blew my socks off. This WAS obviously my first rodeo. So then, like any normal homeowner, I asked the internet if I really had to pay this much to enjoy my home once again. The internet said, "No." Through handyman blogs, "Best HVACs of 2025" posts, and Consumer Reports (CR), I felt like I didn't understand the whole picture and that I needed to know more before I spent 22k. By this time (like immediately), the big company sent me an estimate with a breakdown of the cost...future service fees, brand of the system, and description of the install and equipment. With this knowledge, I decided to post my project on Yelp, looking for a contractor that hopefully cost much less. Many companies responded right away. Some felt just like generic email replies by an agent making generic promises. Some were honest and said upfront that they couldn't do better. One, however, was just a touch more personable and "invested" in trying to provide not only a better price, but also better service. Alex, the owner of Cool Time Air Conditioning and HVAC, was terrific. He asked to see the original estimate and reviewed it with me, answering any questions, before he sent his own estimate. Then, again, he patiently answered another list of questions and helped me understand every part of the cost. Most importantly, the system he was going to install was much better (ranked 3rd best brand according to CR) than the brand from the 22k estimate (ranked lower half brand according to CR). I really felt like I was getting what I wanted (a high efficiency system), understood what I was getting (which included an annual service contract), and that it was all worth the high price tag. Hello, I normally don't write reviews, but I felt I should in this case. During the hottest part of the summer last year, my A.C. was not keeping up with the weather. The system was constantly running and not working as it should. The outside temps where 100+ degrease and the system could only get the interior temps to 88 degrease (vary uncomfortable). So I contacted Cool time air conditioning and heating to get a complete evaluation of my system. Cool time found that the system that I had was too small for the square footage of my house. Apparently, this is common with houses in my area. After investigating my situation, going online and doing my research. I found that yes, my original system was too small and the estimate for the repairs were spot on. I went ahead and retained the services of Cool time for the repairs. So far, the system that Alex installed has been trouble free for a year. I have even noticed a 50.00 drop in my Eletric bill even in the winter. I keep my house at a cool 68 degrease year-round and noticed the system even cycles on and off in the Texas heat. Alex and his team were excellent. I purchased a whole system install from Cooltime. His team worked hard through the hiccups as I was upgrading from just A/C and electric heat to A/C with Heat Pump. The hiccu was the additional wiring for the heat pump . They also brought in a bigger base for the outside unit due to the bigger size, and made sure everything was level and secure. My out the door total for whole system installatation was very reasonable as compared with Temple Air quote for $5700 for ONLY A AIRHANDLER. Alex did go above and beyond for my family and I. Cooltime was very accommodating to help me work within my budget. I highly recommend Cooltime to anyone needing HVAC services. I don't give praise lightly. Nima and Devon did an excellent job diagnosing and repairing my 7-year-old Lennox A/C. They found that the evaporator coil had a slow leak of coolant. They added 410a refrigerant to keep us cool while Alex prepared detailed estimates to repair the unit or to replace it with a "good" Carrier Comfort Maker system or a "best" variable speed Comfort Maker dual stage gas system using the new 454b refrigerant. When we found that my old unit was covered by a parts warranty, they gave me a revised quote to replace the leaky coil including discounts for their preliminary work and for being a loyal customer. They ordered the new coil from California and, when it arrived, Nima and Devon promptly installed it. Everything is working great now and I am 100% satisfied! read more

Even with the weather being less than ideal, they arrived on time and finished faster than expected. Awesome service! I had some issues with my AC, the builder apparently connected the primary and secondary drains backwards and my overflow pan was filling up constantly.
