We did not purchase an entire new AC system/compressor/furnace with Jon Paul M. for the following reasons: 1. He charged $675 to fill coolant and run a leakage test when he knew there was a 90% chance beforehand my evaporator coil was leaking and it would not be worth replacing the evaporator coil for $4500. He only offered a $675 credit towards a new system after I complained. 2. When I texted him a question about the new system quotes last year, he ghosted. Yet he emailed me four days later asking if I was ready to purchase a $17k system. Four days to decide on a $17k system without answering questions or receive other bids is not enough time. He cares more about making the commission than answering questions. 3. Jon Paul kept pushing the top of the line variable Daikin for $17k. Yet Shields AC & Heating in Lockhart said the DH7VSA compressor has a lot of firmware and software bugs communicating with the thermostat. Shields said it's not worth all the rebates and incentives. 4. Airco only offers a three year labor warranty through Airco. Yet they do not tell you that Daikin and Goodman offer an extended ten year labor warranty through Asure for $850. Daikin owns Goodman. 5. Jon Paul's quote did not include new return and supply plenum, unless he didn't specify. He only mentioned spraying the existing supply plenum with mold killer. 6. Jon Paul did not suggest moving the entire system 3 - 4 feet in the attic to reduce static pressure. Three other companies suggested moving the entire system. 7. When I asked Jon Paul what the difference was between the $17k variable Daikin and $15k variable Daikin, his response was, "More features and stuff." I need someone more articulate. 8. Jon Paul did not run a Manual J test. Ultimately, we ended up paying $12.1k with Jurnee Mechanical for a variable Goodman GXV6S condenser which included new return and supply plenum, moving the entire system 3 - 4 feet in the attic, 10 year extended labor warranty through Trinity, free maintenance for two years, and Reme Halo UV light. read more

SEE BOTTOM FOR UPDATE. Airco Austin installed an oversized 3-ton AC in my 1,064 sq ft home, and now I have mold growing in the ductwork from the excess humidity it creates. Before I signed the contract, I emailed Stuart Thompson (the estimator) asking whether he'd run a load calculation to make sure a 3-ton unit wasn't too large. My old 2.5-ton system had cooled the house fine -- the window units he saw were only there because the old AC broke during a brutally hot summer. Stuart never answered my question. I followed up. No response. In hindsight, I should have insisted before signing, but I was heading into another Texas summer with no AC and trusted the judgment of someone with 36 years in the industry and impeccable Yelp reviews. No load calculation was ever done. Stuart confirmed this in writing in June 2025 when I raised the humidity and mold problems. He claimed Manual J calculations aren't standard for replacement installs (seems not to be true). His proposed solution? He offered to install a humidifier -- at my expense. Rather than address the root cause of a system he sized incorrectly, he wanted me to pay more to treat the symptoms. There's also a warranty problem. Airco's contract requires annual maintenance visits or the labor warranty is voided. Every year, scheduling these visits is like pulling teeth. Stuart included one year of PM visits as part of the deal. When I tried to schedule one in January 2024, he said someone would call. No one did. I followed up. Nothing. This pattern repeats. So the warranty depends on visits they won't help me schedule. I have the complete email trail documenting all of this. I'd genuinely like Airco to make this right -- perform a proper load calculation, address the oversizing, and deal with the mold their installation caused. I'm happy to update this review if they do. UPDATE: Airco reached out and I spoke at length with Jeremy, who is knowledgeable and straightforward -- the first genuinely positive interaction I've had with this company. He ran a Manual J (which, per his diagnosis, was never done at install), and identified real duct problems: undersized ducts, ducts not properly connected to registers, and uninsulated ducts running through a hot attic. These are credible explanations for the condensation and mold issues. I'm getting a second opinion on the diagnosis, but I believe Jeremy is being truthful with me. I'm raising this to three stars because Jeremy's engagement is real and the diagnosis is honest. But I want to be clear about what hasn't changed: Airco had multiple opportunities to surface these duct issues -- at the time of the original quote, and again when I complained and a technician came out. Instead I got "it's not mold, it's growth" and stonewalling. Their business manager also publicly accused me of lying and not keeping up with maintenance, which was false and unprofessional. Stuart is apparently no longer with the company, which may explain some of this. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews, but this company deserves it. I had read all the positive reviews and was excited to hire them, but everything that could've gone wrong did, and more. Not sure who hires their crew, but the guy they sent to help me was late and gradually got more and more verbally aggressive with me to the point I almost called the police because I was worried he was going to get physical with me or my children. This may be the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had with any kind of service. I hope you are luckier than me if you decide to hire them, but honestly, there are so many better options in town that it's not even worth giving them a shot (or second chance in my case). read more

Update on original post: The manager over at AirCo, Wes, reached out to verify the appointment I had. He felt terrible about his tech misdiagnosing the issue with my heater. He offered not only to refund me for what AirCo charged me, but also offered to cover the cost the other HVAC company charged me to repair the issue. To me, that showed he really cared about making things right for a customer. The fact that the manager got involved so quickly and demonstrated his willingness to remedy the unfortunate inconvenience, puts AirCo in a different light for me. After seeing first hand that this company puts an emphasis on customer satisfaction, I wouldn't have a problem reaching out to them for future needs. Original post: Paid money for nothing. I had an AirCo tech come out to diagnose our home's heater not kicking on. After about 45min of inspection, the technician told me it's the home builder's fault for not having the proper setup for the furnace, ducts, and unit controller. This didn't make any sense since we've never had this issue despite living in our house for years. The technician offered some tips on how to possibly prevent the issue we were having with our heater. We followed his tips with zero results. It wasn't until we finally called another HVAC company out that our problem was resolved. It turns out the problem was simply a dirty flame sensor that needed to be cleaned. The technician from this other HVAC company even showed me how he was able to very quickly diagnose the problem and he was floored that the AirCo tech didn't know what to look for since a basic diagnostic check would have pointed to the flame sensor. Of course I had to pay the AirCo tech for coming out, even though he completely misdiagnosed the problem. Definitely not a good experience with AirCo. read more

I can't say enough good things about Airco. I noticed water dripping from my ceiling and after investigating the attic area, there was a pipe fitting that was leaking. I called the Airco team out and they dispatched Charles. He took care of the issue quickly and efficiently. More than that, he did a free inspection of my water heater and pointed out some leaks I wasn't even aware of. 12 year water heater so I asked for a quote to replace it. He took his time and gave me a few options. I went ahead and got that done so I didn't have to worry about it. Been running without issues for a few months now. Connor confirmed the diagnosis on our HVAC system (faulty damper actuator) and got us a quote. We accepted the next day and then he came out and fixed it. All fairly cut and dried. I tell this boring story of success because we got a quote from another company that was a couple hundred dollars more than airco for the core problem, but then also included an additional $2k in work for "identified problems" which in my mind were not problems at all but just an attempt to up-sell and get us to pay for some HVAC maintenance subscription plan. I found that approach to doing business pretty appalling and really appreciated the straightforward nature of our AirCo experience. read more

We got a notice from Austin Water that we had a continuous flow, suggesting a leak. We checked all the faucets, outside spigots, and grounds for any sign of a leak - couldn't find anything. Austin Water technician [very nice and proessional guy] tested the company's meter, showed what he was doing, and verifired that there was a leak on our property. We called AIRCO, that had done a splendid job last July on a totally separaqte issue. Plumber Technician Cesar Contreras was here within hours - tested our system, located the leak [under the slab !!!], and gave us a bid that was less than we expected. Diagnostic was very quick because my issue presented itself right away. I had a bad capacitor. The technician, Gage, was very honest and knowledgeable and showed me the readouts on his voltage meter showing it was a bad capacitor. This was fortunate for me because it was one of the quickest and least expensive things to fix. My unit is 18 years old and they didn't try to upsell me on a new unit. They just got it working quickly so my shar pei could cool back down to a comfortable temperature. I also had them top off my refrigerant charge to max it out. It was slightly low as it's an old unit and they were able to improve my cooling capacity by 10° with a full charge. Their fees were fair and inline with chat gpt suggested rates for the area. They waived the diagnostic fee as I had them service the unit. I will definitely use them in the future for maintenance and when my machine finally kicks the bucket, I'll have them replace it if their prices are still competitive. read more

Look. When your AC system goes down in Texas at the beginning of the summer season you know that spells trouble. Also, AC units are no joke expensive so you want to go with a company you can trust. A significant portion of why I chose Airco was based on the strength of their reviews -- and I'm glad I did. Airco was one of a few vendors I reached out to and ultimately decided to go with. Started with Tony. He's a straight shooter and let me know what I needed. Was upfront about the different models pros and cons and what he would buy for himself. Also perspective on the different brands. The short wait to get an install felt like forever but when the day came, the install team was great as well. Real professionals. Packed in. Packed out.
