It happened at 4:30 on a Friday in July and with all the 100+ temps that week, the three other companies I called in a panic were too busy to come out. A local friend of mine said she'd had two years of good service from Airco, so I tried them next and they got us some help in just a few hours. Ernie the technician was AMAZING, friendly and professional and a relief to work with. Later on during the water damage mitigation process with TX Dry Out & Restoration, we ended up needing to replace the old out-of-code HVAC, and had a great experience with Airco. This review has been revised to reflect Jeremy from Airco stepping in to fix a problem created by a technician (Stuart) no longer with the company. Several years ago, Airco installed a 3-ton variable-speed system in a house that had previously had a 2-ton unit (and a history of trouble keeping cool). After about a year of operation, our tenants reported mold in the ducts, high humidity, and a short-cycling unit. Our investigation found that the installer, Stuart, had never pulled a permit for the work. I want to be candid: it took a negative Yelp review to get Airco's attention. Jeremy reached out, recommended we upsize the ductwork, offered a very fair price, and agreed to close out the permits. I'm slow to trust, so I got second and third opinions from other HVAC companies -- they confirmed the system size was correct for the house, and that the ductwork should have been upsized at the original install. My own Manual J calculations agreed with Jeremy's. Notably, Jeremy was the only installer I could find who was actually willing to run a Manual J. He also followed through on pulling permits and getting the city inspection scheduled. Airco worked to schedule the new duct installation during the one week we'd be in town -- during peak season, no less -- and their crew moved fast and stayed professional, which I appreciated given how brutal a Texas attic is this time of year. A few days in, the system is no longer short-cycling, and indoor humidity has dropped to about 63%. Still a touch higher than ideal, but we think we can chase the rest of it down -- possibly window seals, possibly fan settings or duct leakage. Our ac went out the Sunday before Labor Day and the cost to repair didn't make sense on our 16 year old system. The Airco sales rep came out on Labor Day to assess our home and make recommendations on a new unit. He was very polite and offered different equipment options and gave us recommendations on how we should maintenance and update our ductwork in the future. We weren't in the market for a variable speed system but John Paul, the sales rep, explained the benefits and gave us a great deal on a 3.5 ton Daikin heat pump. He used to be an installer and will still do repair work when Airco is busy, so he knows his stuff. The installation two days later went smoothly and took the better part of a day. The installers were troopers working in the attic and outside in direct sun when it was 100 degrees outside. We are super happy with the Daikin system. Very quiet, smaller footprint and often runs at a lower speed (lower electric bill). read more

Absolutely outstanding experience with Airco. My HVAC system was old and not cooling well, so I submitted an online request for a 1pm appointment the next day. They called early, and showed up early. Working with Tony made it super smooth and easy, I appreciated his knowledge and answered all my questions. They were able to get it all installed and replaced the next day, starting at 8:30AM, and when Juan arrived he went to work right away. He and his partner finished quickly and efficiently in the crazy heat, and when he finished he went above and beyond my expectations. We did not purchase an entire new AC system/compressor/furnace with Jon Paul M. for the following reasons: 1. He charged $675 to fill coolant and run a leakage test when he knew there was a 90% chance beforehand my evaporator coil was leaking and it would not be worth replacing the evaporator coil for $4500. He only offered a $675 credit towards a new system after I complained. 2. When I texted him a question about the new system quotes last year, he ghosted. Yet he emailed me four days later asking if I was ready to purchase a $17k system. Four days to decide on a $17k system without answering questions or receive other bids is not enough time. He cares more about making the commission than answering questions. 3. Jon Paul kept pushing the top of the line variable Daikin for $17k. Yet Shields AC & Heating in Lockhart said the DH7VSA compressor has a lot of firmware and software bugs communicating with the thermostat. Shields said it's not worth all the rebates and incentives. 4. Airco only offers a three year labor warranty through Airco. Yet they do not tell you that Daikin and Goodman offer an extended ten year labor warranty through Asure for $850. Daikin owns Goodman. 5. Jon Paul's quote did not include new return and supply plenum, unless he didn't specify. He only mentioned spraying the existing supply plenum with mold killer. 6. Jon Paul did not suggest moving the entire system 3 - 4 feet in the attic to reduce static pressure. Three other companies suggested moving the entire system. 7. When I asked Jon Paul what the difference was between the $17k variable Daikin and $15k variable Daikin, his response was, "More features and stuff." I need someone more articulate. 8. Jon Paul did not run a Manual J test. Ultimately, we ended up paying $12.1k with Jurnee Mechanical for a variable Goodman GXV6S condenser which included new return and supply plenum, moving the entire system 3 - 4 feet in the attic, 10 year extended labor warranty through Trinity, free maintenance for two years, and Reme Halo UV light. read more

Based on prior experience we called Brandon at Airco to come take a look. We left a key for them and they were out that day. They called w/options--new coils (a few year fix) or a whole new system. We opted for a new system. They had it installed and house cooled down when we returned on Saturday! We were also wanting to move our thermostat but wanted to talk through that. Not sure who hires their crew, but the guy they sent to help me was late and gradually got more and more verbally aggressive with me to the point I almost called the police because I was worried he was going to get physical with me or my children. Update on original post: The manager over at AirCo, Wes, reached out to verify the appointment I had. He felt terrible about his tech misdiagnosing the issue with my heater. He offered not only to refund me for what AirCo charged me, but also offered to cover the cost the other HVAC company charged me to repair the issue. To me, that showed he really cared about making things right for a customer. The fact that the manager got involved so quickly and demonstrated his willingness to remedy the unfortunate inconvenience, puts AirCo in a different light for me. After seeing first hand that this company puts an emphasis on customer satisfaction, I wouldn't have a problem reaching out to them for future needs. Original post: Paid money for nothing. I had an AirCo tech come out to diagnose our home's heater not kicking on. After about 45min of inspection, the technician told me it's the home builder's fault for not having the proper setup for the furnace, ducts, and unit controller. This didn't make any sense since we've never had this issue despite living in our house for years. The technician offered some tips on how to possibly prevent the issue we were having with our heater. We followed his tips with zero results. It wasn't until we finally called another HVAC company out that our problem was resolved. It turns out the problem was simply a dirty flame sensor that needed to be cleaned. The technician from this other HVAC company even showed me how he was able to very quickly diagnose the problem and he was floored that the AirCo tech didn't know what to look for since a basic diagnostic check would have pointed to the flame sensor. Of course I had to pay the AirCo tech for coming out, even though he completely misdiagnosed the problem. Definitely not a good experience with AirCo. read more

I can't say enough good things about Airco. I noticed water dripping from my ceiling and after investigating the attic area, there was a pipe fitting that was leaking. I called the Airco team out and they dispatched Charles. He took care of the issue quickly and efficiently. More than that, he did a free inspection of my water heater and pointed out some leaks I wasn't even aware of. 12 year water heater so I asked for a quote to replace it. He took his time and gave me a few options. I went ahead and got that done so I didn't have to worry about it. Been running without issues for a few months now. Connor confirmed the diagnosis on our HVAC system (faulty damper actuator) and got us a quote. We accepted the next day and then he came out and fixed it. All fairly cut and dried. I tell this boring story of success because we got a quote from another company that was a couple hundred dollars more than airco for the core problem, but then also included an additional $2k in work for "identified problems" which in my mind were not problems at all but just an attempt to up-sell and get us to pay for some HVAC maintenance subscription plan. I found that approach to doing business pretty appalling and really appreciated the straightforward nature of our AirCo experience. read more

Horrible customer service! I was hung up the first time I called. The second time the girl answered hello. I had to ask if it was the business I was calling. She didn't know anything about the service plan so after she scheduled my appointment she passed me on to someone else who also just answered the phone hell, he was extremely rude! I asked him to cancel my appointment after telling him I didn't appreciate the way he was speaking to me he tried to recover but ultimately ended up hanging up on me.
