We called Texas electrical connect after a different electrician couldn't figure out why 3 outlets in our kitchen went dead even after 2 hours of "diagnosing" and told us he would need 6-8 hours at $175 per hour to diagnose the problem and cut a bunch of holes in our Sheetrock. We did not want to do that without knowing what the problem was. Texas electrical connect sent Fernando to our rescue! He was super polite and courteous and considerate and very methodical and diligent in his troubleshooting. He figured it out (no holes needed to be cut!) and was super efficient and tidy with his repairs. He took the time to explain to us what had happened and clearly explained the recommended repair and cost. These guys are amazing. I called after hours and left a voice message. I got an immediate text back. I shared the scope of work with pics and they gave a quote that same night. I always get three quotes but others wanted to come on site just to give a quote so I googled what I should expect for cost and the quote was fair so I proceeded. They were able to get me scheduled two days later while other companies were still working to get a quote. They showed up on time. They prepared the space to protect my counters and worked quietly and efficiently to swap several light fixtures. The space was cleaned well after with all trash taken. They rock. read more

I called TEC to do a number of minor electrical repairs and updates at an Austin home. Things like replacing light bulbs that were 10 feet high and out of my reach, replacing a few existing ceiling recessed lights with LEDs, replacing a motion detection light on a stairway that wasn't working, replacing an outdoor GFCI outlet, and troubleshoot a couple outlets that weren't working. I had already purchased all the needed fixtures. Instead of sending an electrician to do the work, they first sent someone to scope out the project. This was done in order that a quote could be provided. This troubleshooting service costs $150. Three days after the troubleshooting visit, I still had not received a quote. I contacted the office and was told the quote would be sent by the end of the day. I did not receive the quote on that day, but the afternoon the next day. The quote that I finally received, which was for labor only, had the following pricing: - Replacement of two light bulbs - $175 - Replacement of six existing recessed lights with LED's - $810 ($135 ea) - Replacement of stairway motion detection light - $250 - Replace outdoor GFCI outlet - $185 - Troubleshoot of two GFCI outlets not working $150 In total, TEC wanted $1,560 on top of the $150 I had already paid them. So over $1,700 for minor electrical repairs. Something I figured should have taken no more than 3-4 hours to complete. I found this estimate to be very expensive and decided to look elsewhere. After complaining about how things were initially handled and various other misunderstandings, I did receve a refund for the $150 troubleshooting fee. The manager and employees were very nice and genuinely wanted to please but, in the end, their cost was just too expensive in my opinion. My advice is find an electrician that charges by the hour for work performed, and avoid anyone that wants to charge a fee just for providing a quote. read more

I reached out to several electricians and Texas Electrical Connect had the best up front cost estimate. Others were by the hour, or a large up front cost + additional costs. With my old house and who knows what was going on behind the walls, they had to work longer to get it all working. Even then they stayed to the quote. Only when we had to make a change, i assumed i could use my old fan pole, did they added costs. it included the cost of materials and the trip to home depot they offered to make at an added marginal cost. The workers who came were very friendly and nice, took care to wear shoe covers and checked in on me for approvals for some of the things they were doing. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of it all. Working with Miguel was great in that he was very fast in responding to questions I had and ensure i knew what work was being done. Over all i highly recommend these guys. Worth checking and and i would certainly use them again. FYI, i had them install 2 new lights in the garage, and a high ceiling fan. read more

We had a breaker that would not reset and really needed same day service. Texas Electrical Connect answered our Yelp request and were able to come out the same day. Fernando arrived on time and was great! He was very respectful and professional and did a thorough job. He identified where one of our wires was touching the ground wire and causing the breaker to trip. He then checked each plug on that breaker and made sure this wouldn't happen at any of them. What a great experience with this company! My job was very small -- just a GFCI outlet replacement, but it was a big inconvenience since it left my bathrooms without working outlets. I had a very simple problem, 3 breakers needed to be replaced in my circuit box. Didn't think to ask for prices ahead of time and the diagnostic rate wasn't bad. Well they charge $175 per breaker replaced. Took the tech less than 30 minutes to swap everything out and they got $525. When I complained about the price they graciously dropped $100 off the bill. Ask for prices before they send out the tech and try to get hourly billing instead of this piecemeal overcharge system. In response to the comment. Yes, the tech was up front about the pricing, but the dispatch didn't note anything about the cost even though I explicitly noted that the issue was breakers. Secondly, the troubleshooting fee wasn't waived, tech said he could do the troubleshooting, and there was a charge for that per circuit. I told him it was the breakers, so just replace them and skip the troubleshooting step. This sequence was very annoying because the circuit breakers had the blinking red test light that indicated they were bad. So the charge for troubleshooting was literally going to be hundreds of dollars for going, see blinking red light, yep, circuit breaker bad. read more
