Incredible incredible experience with Grayzer Electric wrt to installing a charger for my EV Everything from initial pictures of electrical site to highly accurate and reasonable quote to filling out paperwork for getting available rebate program was amazing One and done half day or so of work and I was able to start charging my Tesla Apparently Grayzer specializes in EV charger installation and IMHO it was as smooth as buying a Tesla 5 stars easily

I feel the urge to write this review. It's not usual that a company surpasses all of your expectations, but Grayzer did that for us. I finally got an EV and contacted a few electrical companies for quotes on installing a Level 2 EV charger at my home. I went with Grayzer for a few reasons: 1. They came to my home to assess the work and answered all my questions 2. Responded quickly to my follow up questions through email 3. Provided multiple options for installing the charger, one being a simpler install leaving my home's original components, and the other was replacing the breaker box, fuses, and bringing everything up to current code and provide more amperage for the home 4. Recommended EV chargers to get from them, and allowed me to purchase one on my own too. I went with a Grizzl-E Level 2 charger, which I bought myself. The work Max, Todd, and team did (I forget the name of the other person) was exceptional. I don't use that word lightly. Everything was done with attention to detail and tidiness in mind. From the cable arrangement, dealing with my local electricity company, accessing our attic, and entering and exiting the home. They cleaned up afterwards and left everything better than it was. Since my outside breaker box was on the opposite side of the garage, I expected tons of work, poking holes, and damage to be done to make the system reach the garage. But all my fears were appeased when I saw how cleanly they worked through that home layout. I'm super excited by being able to charge my EV at home, and more so with the little adjustments the team had to do to make it happen. I will use Grayzer in the future for all electrical needs, and recommend them to anybody reading this.

I contacted Grayzer Electric along with a few others last summer when I got my Tesla Model Y to get an estimate for upgrading our older mod-90's service panel and install a Tesla charger. At the time, it was a very good price, but I ended up going with a much cheaper option of getting a 14-50 outlet installed off our sub panel in the garage. Turns out, that was a mistake, as that solution gave us problems until I de-rated the charging by 50% to not kick off and overheat our sub panel breaker. I learned the hard way that old adage about having to do something twice. So this summer I decided enough was enough, and got new estimates from various electricians around Austin (the big names you all know). The prices were honestly shocking, but I also reached out to Grayzer again as well. They refreshed the estimate, which barely changed at all. Their reviews are great, so I said let's do it. Because I'm not in City of Austin, they were able to schedule me the same week. Max and his crew showed up exactly on time, maybe a few minutes early even, and was very clear about everything that needed to happen. Once PEC arrived and pulled the meter, they all got to work, with him removing and replacing our old panel with a new Eaton CH, and the other two helping and running the conduit and lines for the charger. The garage of our 2-story is opposite the panel, so this was an up the side, over through the attic, and down the other. I did an outside install, since the Tesla Wall Connector is weatherproof. The final results are fantastic, and charging at 48A is so much better than 16A. The guys were easy to talk to, answered every question I had, were fine with me being nosy and watching them work. The inspection was smooth and took just a few minutes, and the whole job was done - including the wait on PEC to come back and push the meter back in - earlier than they originally said when they arrived that morning. The bill was exactly the original estimate, too. No overage. Fun fact: the total cost was $2k less than just the panel replacement estimate from the other guys, and about half the other full estimates I got. Grayzer charged about what I found when I googled "cost to replace service panel". Fair price, honest people, great results. I would recommend them to friends, family, and complete strangers, like y'all. :)

If I need to get a cooktop and oven re-wired to 220 for a plug in unit( cooktop and stove in one unit) what would that cost? Right now the power is directly connected to cook top and oven.. no plugs, direct from the wall.

It depends, Noah, it sounds like the current cooktop and oven are gas and you're switching to electric which means rewiring back to the breaker panel wherever that might be. The cost depends on the distance from the cooktop/oven from the breaker… Read more

For this they used a flex conduit and to hold the flex conduit outdoor-rated fasteners need to be used. This was clearly not the case, as there is corrosion and rust clearly visible on the fasteners that were used to hold the conduit (see pictures). I'm sure of this because we also had conduit installed by another electrical contractor for another purpose on a similar exterior wall on the other side of the house that has zero corrosion on it. I reached out to them several times over the span of 4 weeks regarding this, and didn't hear back once. I also specifically remember that the person sent out to do the work was very rude and difficult to work with. This was particularly relevant for hanging a chandelier, since it ended up crooked and he didn't ask for feedback until after he had already taken down his scaffolding, and wasn't willing to put it back up. So to this day we still have a misaligned chandelier. Cost isn't all that matters. For what this level of quality you're better off either learning to DIY, or paying more to hire a better company if you want everything done right and good customer service.

When they were in the attic running the wire down the wall to the circuit box, for some reason they had a issue getting the wire down the wall. Whatever tool they used cracked the drywall directly on the other side of the wire. It was a pain having the drywall fixed. I had to remove my TV for the dry wall guy, take time off of work, and have the whole wall painted so it would blend in and not look like a patch job. The owner said he would reimburse me for the bill for the repair. I sent him a copy of what I paid the drywall guy but he has not gotten back to me. It is very hard to contact this company, if you call you will find you always get voicemail. I should of known better. Very dishonest company, I would stay far away from these guys even for a simple job like mine. Update 1: The owner texted me to let me know he intends to reimburse me but he has just been to busy. It's been over a week and I have not gotten any refund, so I feel there is dishonesty in this. Update 2: The owner never reimbursed me. As I suspected, he was lying. I lost quite a bit of money for a relatively simple job. If only I chose another company.

I have Anxiety & Adult ADHD and I am just getting to the point of publicly stating this (as if everyone around me didn't know for years). The Yelp community has helped me deal with the forced contractor interactions because after all, the home improvements HAVE to get done. Knowing you have a solid, reputable contractor by a huge group of the YELP community takes a lot of that anxiety away. I researched Bear here on Yelp & the company was even BETTER than the 5 star reviews. I had overslept due to said anxiety keeping me up until 4am the night before. They waited for me patiently when I didn't answer the door, didn't answer the phone, or respond the text. I was KNOCKED OUT & didn't hear my 5 alarms! I did however hear my cat HOWLING telling me, WOMAN GET YOUR #### UP! Bear Could have easily just left. I had been holding off on getting these things done due to said anxiety so going thru finding someone else & scheduling again would have been pure horror for me. I am so grateful they were EARLY & had some extra time to wait for me. I also had a big event (Yelpies) the same day so I was so concerned about being late but Bear was 15 mins early which to them is how they operate. They had my 8 requests we aligned on up & memorized. They have a process & the output is QUALITY and beating customer expectations. I promise you this company will beat your expectations. If you are curious what they did for me, below is my list: 1. Take down a pendant light & put back up std light / cover 2. Check Fluorescent lights where light bulbs changed but won't come on; fuse may need changed (Garage & Laundry Rm) 4. Check why power is out in 3 outlets in Kitchen / Dining room 5. Replace light plate in kitchen 6. Change light bulbs pendant that is high up in front of stairs in foyer 7. Change Porch Light front of house 8. Fix broken Master Bathroom light switch Thank you Bear Electric & Yelp Community for highly recommending this company! I will use them for life!
