We hired Austin's Texas Electrical Services of Austin (TECL #29127). One part of this was installing an outdoor outlet, which requires running a conduit. For this they used a flex conduit and to hold the flex conduit outdoor-rated fasteners need to be used. This was clearly not the case, as there is corrosion and rust clearly visible on the fasteners that were used to hold the conduit (see pictures). I'm sure of this because we also had conduit installed by another electrical contractor for another purpose on a similar exterior wall on the other side of the house that has zero corrosion on it. I reached out to them several times over the span of 4 weeks regarding this, and didn't hear back once. I also specifically remember that the person sent out to do the work was very rude and difficult to work with. This was particularly relevant for hanging a chandelier, since it ended up crooked and he didn't ask for feedback until after he had already taken down his scaffolding, and wasn't willing to put it back up. So to this day we still have a misaligned chandelier. Cost isn't all that matters. For what this level of quality you're better off either learning to DIY, or paying more to hire a better company if you want everything done right and good customer service. read more

They cracked the drywall and will not reimburse for the repair. I had a new direct line ran for a new outlet to the circuit box. When they were in the attic running the wire down the wall to the circuit box, for some reason they had a issue getting the wire down the wall. Whatever tool they used cracked the drywall directly on the other side of the wire. It was a pain having the drywall fixed. I had to remove my TV for the dry wall guy, take time off of work, and have the whole wall painted so it would blend in and not look like a patch job. The owner said he would reimburse me for the bill for the repair. I sent him a copy of what I paid the drywall guy but he has not gotten back to me. It is very hard to contact this company, if you call you will find you always get voicemail. I should of known better. Very dishonest company, I would stay far away from these guys even for a simple job like mine. Update 1: The owner texted me to let me know he intends to reimburse me but he has just been to busy. It's been over a week and I have not gotten any refund, so I feel there is dishonesty in this. Update 2: The owner never reimbursed me. As I suspected, he was lying. I lost quite a bit of money for a relatively simple job. If only I chose another company. read more

I had Texas Electrical Services upgrade my electrical panel and their team did a truly great job. I paid for the work and thought nothing more. A month passed and I started receiving legal notices from a parts supplier who claimed that I was now liable because Texas Electrical Services hadn't paid them for components used in the project. I immediately reached out to my account manager and asked to help get the issue resolved. They said they had. Another month passed by and I received another certified letter from the same supplier. I reached out to the account manager again who was shocked that it wasn't resolved but admitted that it was ultimately out of their control. It was being managed by the owner of Texas Electrical Services. I asked the account manager to have the owner call me so I can at least understand the situation. I never heard from the owner. I've since left voicemails and sent a text message. Whether Texas Electrical Services is having financial problems preventing payment, doesn't play nice with suppliers, or the claim is bogus -- I would expect the courtesy of a response from the owner. I would also expect the issue to be resolved quickly without becoming party to a legal liability. In sum, their team did a great job. The owner is unresponsive and potentially irresponsible. And the business may be insolvent or an untrustworthy partner. I will gladly update this review when the issue has been resolved because the team is top notch. read more

Called Texas Electrical Services to install some smart switches after discovering that my wiring in my switch box was pretty non-standard. Asahel and Chris were great. They installed the switches quickly and carefully and cleaned up everything. They also explained everything they were doing so I learned a lot. These guys started a job for us about 7 months ago, have hardly made any progress, and for almost two weeks now, no one answers their office phone and my main contact's mobile goes straight to voicemail. We were originally convinced because the estimators who came out were nice and their prices competitive. Just got off the phone with another electrician, 5th generation been doing it with his father since he was 8, and am finding out everything they were planning to do was nonsense. Wow, so I was expecting to wait days or weeks for service, but Texas Electrical Services scheduled me for the day after I requested a quote. (They also actually gave me a quote in line with a couple of others instead of just asking me for more info that I'd already provided on the Yelp lead form or asking me to get in touch for a quote). They installed two outlets in my garage ceiling for my garage doors openers in just a short time, and fixed a non-working overhead ilght while they were at it. Other nice touches - they texted me telling me they'd be 15 minutes later than originally planned, they were going to refer me to sheet rock people if I had needed sheet rock work (ended up not), and they took the effort to line the outlets up properly. Five stars! After unreliable service from another company, we called Texas Electrical Services last night hoping to get help with our issue. Our garbage disposal and kitchen island lost power and the dishwasher was being cut off mid cycle as a result. The team was able to get someone out next day first thing and gave an estimated amount of time of 2 hours to fix. James is a ROCKSTAR employee- he texted when he was on the way, arrived on time, took his shoes off to respect our house and was able to diagnose and fix the issue within 90 minutes (this included going and getting a new breaker). They are professional and their work is guaranteed for a year! I really can't sing their praises enough. I have added Texas Electrical Services as a company in my phone and know if anything arises in the future, I'll be calling them! read more

They are super expensive. When I called them to schedule the appt, I was told they charge by the hour and the cost will be prorated, if it took them lesser than an hour to fix the issue. When I received the invoice, it was inaccurately prorated. I called the manager and he mentioned something completely different - they charge $180 for the hour irrespective of the time it takes to fix the issue within that hour; when 3 of his employees were specific about the pro-ration. What I don't feel comfortable about is the Inconsistency in pricing within their own team! However, he was nice enough to cancel the invoice. I give them two stars for this. I'm not happy with how uncourteous this very review's response is from the company. I don't think I'll do business with them again super inconsistent with the quote and super expensive for $180 an hour - even if it only takes them 15 mins to fix a small electrical issue. read more

I called TES Monday morning and they scheduled me for the next day. My junction box for my dishwasher blew out and Bryce and his teammate came within the timeframe that was given and fixed it. They were very quick, efficient, and analyzed wisely. They explained to me the parts that blew out and why it was causing the circuit to trip. They replaced the junction box, cleaned up, and ensured the kitchen looked the same as when they arrived. The one thing I really like about Texas Electrical Services is that the electricians came in pairs. It always helps to have a teammate and helps reduce the cost for their clients. I've worked with these folks twice so far. The first time, I was addressing inspection report items for my new house. Everything was taken care of quickly and to my satisfaction. Pricing was fair - they invoiced all the items individually and I selected which ones I was interested in paying for. The second time, I was suffering from an excess of ambition in installing my own recessed lighting in my bedroom. While I'd gotten the lights to turn on, they weren't responding to the light switch in my room. After fiddling around with it for a couple hours I realized I needed to eat some humble pie and turn to the pros. Although the lead time for scheduling an appointment with Texas Electrical Services was long, I decided to wait it out and I'm glad I did. Asahel was super friendly and worked quickly. I told him some mistaken information about the original lighting setup which led to the wiring not being quite right after he left. When I realized the problem I called him back and within 10 mins he was back in the house, identifying my mistake and fixing it at no additional charge. So, my son decided to install a Ring on his own, we thought it was his fault that ELECTRICAL ISSUES came up and bathroom lights were no longer on - turns out to be a "breaker box" fuse issue totally innocent sitch - These guys (James was awesome) were able to come out and figure it out and fix it in less than 30 minutes (Super fast response too). We had no previous contact with Texas Electrical, but as our long-time electrician was no longer in business, we contacted them to fix damaged electrical equipment on our house after the February ice storm. My garage GFCI outlet tripped and all the connected sockets are down. After searching for the GFCI outlet inside and outside the garage and found one out side the garage, tried to reset it but failed. Thought the GFCI outlet is dead so went to HomeDepot to get a new GFCI outlet and replaced. Still no luck, it's time to go for a pro by calling Texas Electrical Services and scheduled a service. When the technician Brandyn and Tim came, I explained the issue then Brandyn quickly moved my utility box and reset a GFCI outlet that I never know it was there. I called in the morning and spoke to someone that didn't have power at their own home, but they were still out trying to help others - they told me they'd call back after finding a place to setup their laptop and prep for the day. Someone called me back in a few hours, and let me know Bryce was on his way at around 3pm. Due to cell signal being awful, I called the main office back when he was running a little bit behind just to get an update - and they ended up sending another person that was very close by. Comically, Bryce and Brandon showed up at about the same time - and very quickly tested my breaker boxes and found the issue (potentially faulty breaker). They got the power back on and headed out. Being a little paranoid, and wanting to make sure the breaker wouldn't just partially fail again, I flipped it and again couldn't get it back on. I called Bryce again, and he was back in a couple minutes, no problem. Brandon picked up a new breaker and dropped it off - and Bryce had it installed in minutes. I'm sold on TES. Had a great experience with everyone involved, from scheduling with Patrick to the electricians coming (James and another, apologies I dont remember the name) and whomever I spoke to on the phone about my questions regarding the initial quote. Everything lined up well, including the price/timing and the work was done within the time frame they gave me initially. I got a few quotes from different companies and ended up going with these guys after seeing the other reviews even with them being a tad bit higher than the lowest offer. It just made sense to pay more for me based on the great reviews, and I definitely wanted to save a headache or two if anything went wrong. We noticed a problem with the electrical connection to the hot tub. The insulation sleeve was separated from the bottom of the junction box. Just to make sure it was safe we called an electrician. 440v + water is not something to take chances with! They made an appointment for the very next day and came promptly during the agreed upon time window and texted when they were on the way. Bryce was professional, very helpful and informative and fixed our problem without additional charge, just the $180 fee to come out which is very worth it for my peace of mind.
