My NEW frig was OUT! Breaker had flipped again. This happened with the old one. Newer house, just 5 yrs old. I had checked the outlet when the new frig came in, it was good. New frig installed 4 days later, breaker flipped again. I knew it was the breaker but I won't mess with that type of electrical issues. Sent a request through Yelp and was contacted by Russell Electric. He wasn't able to make it until Wednesday. After our conversation he decided to come out that same night. (I had just lost a lot of food with the old frig and was rather frustrated with it all) It was 9:45pm. It took him 45min to an hour. Fixed the issue in like 15 min and made sure all was well before he left. He knew what he was doing and he explained it as he did. He hot right on the job as I had a ceiling fan that refused to work and he checked out the problem and analyzed it and recommended that the switch had to be replaced and that the workmanship of the electrician who put in this plug, did a substandard job and I definitely agreed with him because I had put in ceiling fans before and never had an issue until I went to out this one in. I was stumped and I called Russell Electric and Thomas was a definite breath of fresh air. He is old school, very respectful and I was honored to have him in my new house. 11/04/2019 GFCI would not reset. Mr. Russell replaced it. It works. For completeness, he also checked fuses and wiring. Job well done. 1/31/2018 Closet light fixture quit lighting. I pulled the cover off and troubleshot enough to know that there was no voltage on the line coming out of the ceiling and into the ballast. At that point, it was beyond me. Called Russell Electric. I called Thomas early Monday morning, and he managed to find time to come out before his next appointment. He arrived, fixed my light/fan switch problem, and reinstalled the fan with no fuss and no issues. He has a 1-hour minimum charge, so after his ~35 minutes spent on the initial problem, he made sure to fill the rest of the hour checking on other issues I'd been having, answering questions, and giving advice. He seemed very concerned that I'd get my money's worth for the hour, and I appreciate that very much. I tried to get him to fix an antique fixture. He identified the problem immediately, and said he could get the light to come on again, but that it would be better to replace the fixture or have it repaired. He even gave me a referral for restoring the fixture. He likely could have charged another hour of labor for this, but opted for the "right thing" instead. It's hard to find a responsive electrician these days, especially one that doesn't make you feel like you're being squeezed. Pros: Came out within 30 mins of me calling them. The hour rate quoted on the phone was $100 plus repairs. That was $50 less than everyone else I called and none of them could make it out that day. Cons: don't expect any kind of wiggle room on the price if it turns out that you are an idiot and never needed to call an electrician in the first place. Let me explain. The can lights in our kitchen, recently remodeled, stopped working. For 6 months my wife and I have exclusively used one switch on the countertop to control these lights. A week ago they cut out. We had completely forgotten about the other 3-way switch in the hallway because it had been blocked by boxes and other things from the move. The switch didn't even exist in our minds. 2 seconds into the electrician coming into the house he flips the switch and I have a good laugh. Problem solved in my mind. Since he's made the trip out I ask him to take a look at some other things. My thinking being. Ok, I'm out $100 minimum for a silly mistake, let's try to knock out some other simple things. I had a ceiling fixture that needed a shallow breaker box. I hadn't been able to find one at a big box store. I asked him to quote me on that. We had some confusion at the beginning that I will give him the benefit of the doubt on. Originally i was thinking he wanted to charge me an extra $100 "diagnostic" fee. Plus a charge for a repair. It wasn't until I complained and we went back and forth a little that he came off the extra $100! Or I could of been reading the situation wrong and it was a misunderstanding. I specifically remember him saying it was $100 minimum per issue though. So we move on. He tells me it's $75 for the shallow breaker box. I ask him if since the other one was such a silly mistake if he could do $150. Still in my mind that's damn near highway robbery but I thought that would be doable and a nice gesture on their part since it was laughable how stupid I'd been to call them. He stays firm on the $75. I don't push the issue anymore. I let him spend 5-10 mins putting 2 screws in and run my card for $175. Long story short. I'm an idiot. Monday's suck. I should of been an electrician. And don't expect any kind of good faith gesture in silly scenarios like this. A price is a price is a price. read more

Called to get a rough quote on installing new 220v outlet in my garage and he was able to give me a fairly accurate quote after just telling him about what I needed. I'm sure if it was a bigger job it might have been unreasonable to get quote over the phone but for such a small job it was nice that he didn't have to come out (and charge a fee) to get an idea of what I was looking at paying. I called ABC Electric first for the same thing and they insisted on coming out to assess the job and give a quote. They charged $79 for that. Not only did Thomas give me the estimate over the phone, it ended up being less than 1/2 of what the other guys wanted. Regarding the actual work, he was on time and got right to work. We were having dinner one night and suddenly all our lights turned off. My husband went and tried to reset the main break in the garage.
