This place is "hidden" right out in the open on Burnet. I drove past it almost every day. My wife called and got lots of information on the lights we needed. When a second bulb when out on my Master bath lights, I knew I finally have to locate the bulbs. The light fixtures were special ordered and made in France. The bulbs are like nothing I have seen before. After removing one bulbs, thinking I could read the specs off the base. Nope, it was all white with no specs. So with dead bulb in hand I drive here hoping they will help. They were helpful to a point. The bulb is a Xenon Krypton with a E-11 base. No idea what voltage or wattage was. They located one that was slightly longer than the one I had. They selected a low voltage so I didn't blow up the fixture. Told me if it didn't work, bring it back. It fit into the socket so my bath didn't look like a cave. The bad news is these bulbs were $10. each read more

I have special fixtures in my bathroom that require specific bulbs. I called Light Bulb Depot to assist me. I spoke with Cole, who was helpful and found the bulbs for me. He said they did not have the bulbs in stock but could order them for me. He took payment over the phone (almost $100) in advance and special ordered these bulbs for me on Nov 17, 2021. Cole said it would take several months for them to arrive. After a few months without hearing from them, I called to check on a status update in the Spring of this year (2022). The person I spoke with found my order but said they had not come in yet. I was in the area on December 29 and decided to stop in to see if there was any update. I spoke with Scott first and he was friendly and wanted to help. He asked if I had any correspondence or an invoice number. The only e-mail I had was the e-mail I originally sent to Cole (who is no longer with the company) back in Nov 2021 so he could assist me in finding the replacement bulb. Scott asked if I could forward that e-mail to him and he was then able to find my order after some digging. I let him know that I never received a phone call indicating my order had arrived and he kept going to the back of the store to discuss the order with the manager. Scott went back and forth several times during this interaction to relay what the manager said and to get more information from me. The order indicated that it was picked up on April 21st. This was impossible because I never got a phone call from Light Bulb Depot that the bulbs arrived. This was also the first time I had ever physically been in the store. The manager never came out to the front of the store to speak with me directly, though I could hear what was being said in his office. His input was all relayed through the two workers at the counter. The manager was obviously not aware I could hear everything that was said, or he didn't care because there were many instances where he used curse words such as S--- and F---. I could hear him say it was on me for not coming into the store sooner to check on my order. I guess I was supposed to instinctively know my order had arrived and was ready for pick up! He equated my situation as " ... like going to HEB and asking for a refund for a potato that I bought a year ago." He told the worker to tell me that he would not be issuing a refund and that I could either buy some bulbs or get the F--- out. Scott had to leave due to his shift being over and I started dealing with a second gentlemen at this point. The second gentlemen came out from the back and basically said that since it was so long ago, and the order indicated it had been picked up, that he would not be issuing a refund. I did not want a refund, I just wanted the bulbs I had paid for yet never received. Although after this back and forth, I was starting to want a refund instead of the bulbs. I asked if they had records of who signed for the order when it was picked up and was told that they only keep that paperwork for 6 months and then mail it to the main office in a different state and the only way they could find it was for him to drive there and look for it. At this point I was not going to buy more bulbs that I had already paid for and never received, so I said "There is nothing you can do about this then?" He responded he could sell me the bulbs they had in stock if I still wanted them. At this point I had been in the store for almost 30 minutes so I turned to leave. He said he was sorry as I was walking out and I said I highly doubt it. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing any more light bulbs from this store and will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this place and just order bulbs online. Our house had a kitchen remodel done in the 1980s with different fluorescent lighting in a dome ceiling. And the bulbs have always been a challenge to find. The previous locally owned light bulb vendor usually had these bulbs, but they were beyond unfriendly and acted as if they were doing you a favor to sell you light bulbs. (By the way, I thought that was their business? Then again, that could explain why they're no longer around.) After visiting a Batteries Plus location and two big box hardware stores, I did what I should've done to begin with and went to Yelp. There, I found the Light Bulb Depot. And on Monday night, I emailed to find out if they had this unusual light bulb. Before 8 AM on Tuesday, I already had an email from Chris confirming the availability and the pricing. Needless to say, I drove over to the store. When I went in to the store, the lady at the counter knew the exact bulb, especially since the email from Chris provided both the item number and description. In fact, it turned out that Chris had already set some of these bulbs aside. I was in and out of the store in less than ten minutes with the correct light bulbs at a fair price. Scott at the Austin store was incredible. He spent an inordinate amount of time with me trying to figure out if he had a ballast to replace ours; without it, we wouldn't have the UV light that disinfects our drinking water. That would have made for a long New Year's weekend. He was patient and, eventually, determined the right replacement and verified that he had it in stock. Not only did they have the bulbs I needed, but the staff is so incredibly helpful. They tested out bulbs and showed me the difference in the type of light they'd provide-- all things you can't get when ordering online or standing in a hardware aisle. Just got back from a very bad experience at the Light Bulb Depot on Burnet. I went in with an empty box of bulbs which i got there before, and said 'I am looking for these.'. Counter man assures me that they have them. I ask 'how much are they?'. Counterman tells me .67 cents each. I say 'Great, give me $20 worth.'. Next thing I know - after a 5 minute wait- he tells me they are $2.47 per bulb?!?!?!?! I was assured that they had this item, and I was assured of the price- yet somehow these people think that I would forget the price that was quoted me? And let's not forget, I bought $20 worth of the same product from them last year! I left immediately. When someone LIES to me repeatedly, that is NOT a business that I will EVER patronize again. Sayonara, Light Bulb Depot, Hello Better Business Bureau- where i intend to make my next complaint. As the saying goes, Buyer Beware! DAY2: i note that someone realizes that their inability to provide simple basic customer service has become a problem, Not to mention the lying to customers by the staff. I drove 20 miles to go to the Light Bulb Depot. Apparenttly, they are unaware of basic business practices such as: when you are out of an item, it is either out-of-stock (which means it is on order), or discontinued. Counterman failed to inform me of the status of the item he told me 'they had in stock'. He did not tell me 'it is on order and will be here later in the week'. He did not tell me 'the item was discontinued'. He did not tell me 'he was substituting another item for the one I ordered'. I was told absolutely nothing except that I was to buy bulbs that were 4 times as much as he quoted me 5 minutes earlier. He did not offer me any information whatsoever, except misinformation, which I interpret as lies and deceitful business practice. Now someone higher up the food chain wants to appease me. I do not require special treatment- i require a business to enact proper customer service. And apparently someone did not get the message that I made very clear- I will NEVER do business with Light Bulb Depot. I chose to be a GOOD customer and NOT cause a big scene in the store in front of the other customers. I choose the correct response, to boycott a BAD business. read more

Do not buy from this store. As a electrical contractor I will no longer purchase bulbs from here. I had ordered some bulbs from roman he conned me into signing this no return sheet. Well that is fine if the bulbs where actually to come in. The bulbs never showed. When I asked for my money back he said he could not return me money cause of this sheet. I told him that it is void cause the bulbs are not here. So now I am stuck waiting for them to magically come in. Long store short roman, gorden and the other crooks that work there lie and act like they are your best friend. Do not buy from this store. These people have no clue what they are selling. Bought some landscape low voltage bulbs (12). Well all the bulbs died within 3 months. Returned them to the store. Now they are saying that they are not made for outside. Well hello that is what you sold me roman (which no longer works there, got his ass fired). This is not the first time they screwed me on a job. I do not trust them more will I ever buy from them.
