I had an issue with a Modern Forms Ceiling fan I purchased at TCF in February of 2024. I contacted Modern Forms and they ran me through some diagnostics and said the receiver was broken. I called John Andrews, the owner of TCF and he was super helpful. He arranged for a new receiver to be sent to me directly from the distributor. This place is awesome! Great selection of fans and quick, quality install. What makes it even better is the service. We bought a fan there over 5 years ago. This morning when we woke up, the fan was dead...no blade action and the lights would not come on. I reset circuit breakers and even took the wall switch apart and checked with a multimeter to ensure the switch was good (it was). Just before going shopping for another fan I decided to call the store and ask if there was something simple I was overlooking. I spoke to Mike, and he told me in a few seconds how to check to see if it had lost it's programming (it had) and how to reset it. I needed a fan and wanted to find a store with more of a selection and people who could answer my questions. This store has a special feeling when you go in and is worth the trip. I found they were very knowledgeable about the product and I found the store charming. The prices range from very affordable to very expensive and the owner helped me find the right fan for me. I had even picked out a more expensive fan and he made sure I saw one that was very similar but a bit less expensive and I did end up purchasing that model. Before I tell you my experience with TCF, I am so grateful TCF's recommended Mr.Studebaker to balance my ceiling fans a few years ago, because he is my go to guy getting my house in shape, his repairs save me money and his prices are reasonable. Although he's a very busy guy, worth the wait. As far as TCF, first time I went there they had a strict no return policy, and I am stuck looking at this oversized light fixture everyday. This time I went to get a new ceiling fan from TCF (love the Casablanca's). One thing though...I'll never be able to forget one of the worker's virtually mooning us whilst sitting at a table. (That famous Plumber's crack.). It was ghastly. My friend and I laughed about it, but you can't unsee that! And, I just wouldn't point it out in person. The other fellow, Mike, was helpful enough. My ceiling fan was installed by My Guy Mr.Studebaker and I love my fixture. And, surprisingly, Texas Ceiling Fans has since changed their policy; now accepting returns. read more

LIAR, LIAR! I would give negative stars if I could, you should avoid this business like the 'covid-19 plague'! We purchased five fans, all smart fans. When our electrician showed up to install one was missing pieces so after contacting the manufacturer and getting the part ordered we decided to return the others and exchange them (we would have returned them all but the business will not take back open product). After being chastised by the clerk for not contacting him about the missing part we made the exchange, with him grumbling and comm bring under his breath the entire time. We made it clear that we wanted smart fans and he assured us the fans he ordered for us were, indeed, smart. We decided to try to change the order and faxed a request to the stores published fax number as the sole clerk wouldn't pick up the phone. Thinking all was well we went on. Fast forward one week, one day before install and still no fan. We call and first are told 'we never promise a delivery date.' When advised we had a delivery date on our receipt, the clerk said he would call right back. We then ask if he received our fax order to which he replies 'we don't have a fax.' When he's directed to his own web page the response is 'oh, you still have to take what you ordered.' So, here we sit, four of the five fans not smart and two fans we really didn't want. I guess they assume people only purchase ceiling fans occasionally so why bother with good customer service. read more

Be careful dealing with these folks. I bought a $50 fan control there on their recommendation. It turned out to not be the right one. I took it back and was told by the manager that they would credit my credit card. After a month it was still not credited. I talked to the manager who said they would take care of it. Weeks later and still no credit. I contacted my credit card company, but they were no help. So I am out $50 and no fan controller. They appear to be a quite slipshod run organization. You can get the same products elsewhere at a lower price. If you do business with them, always get every promise they make in writing. read more

After some research, I was referred to John for help restoring an Emerson fan that originally hung in my great-grandfather's shoe store in Wilmington NC. We live in Charlotte, NC so I packed up the pieces and sent them all the way to Austin. Unfortunately some damage occurred during shipping, but with John as our advocate, the shipping company promptly reimbursed us. John not only did a great job restoring the fan, but he also sent step-by-step installation instructions for our electrician and offered to be available by phone for any questions. Recently the fans started emitting a high pitched squeal. John at Texas Ceiling Fans has gone above and beyond to ensure our fans are repaired. He personally did the repairs on the first fan, and went to great lengths to order the particular part it needed. He arranged for transport from overseas, and kept on top of the order every week or so to make sure it was delivered. He repaired the fan masterfully. He even met me after hours to pick up the fan. Ok. First the location is awesome. The shop is a great Austin original and is fun to browse. Most importantly Mike is super helpful, very friendly, and and overall nice guy. Last the fans are great quality and yes really competitively priced. I was prepared to pay a bit more to support a local business but I didn't have to. They also have really well priced custom fans and lighting. Price ranges from $100 on up so really something for everyone. All this while supporting a great local business! Most awesome experience! Who knew looking for a ceiling fan could be the most harrowing experience when doing work on a home. Out of replacing every sq. inch of flooring, countertops, sinks, paint, windows and siding in our house, ceiling fans ended up being the largest pain in the arse. Until I went to this place! In our great quest to replace the gaudy and shiny gold, if sweet since it holds sentimental value, fan in our dining area to match our other decor while we're having a lot of other fixtures updated, we went all over the place. We were thoroughly unimpressed at several Lowe's and Hell Depot locations. We went to a lighting place that we found online over the weekend that a) didn't have what we wanted, it would take too long to order, and b) what they had in stock was not great. And we are having the electrician over in 5 days. So I told my husband I'd head to Texas Ceiling Fans on my lunch break. As loving husbands are wont to be, he said the reviews, thus far, for this place were lackluster and that he surmised, being that they're located on W. 6th, that they'd charge a premium. As loving wives are wont to be, I understood but didn't let that sway my determination to find a fan before the electrician shows up this weekend! This is one of those times I'm grateful that I didn't listen to my caring, loving, wonderful husband. hehe I say this since I'm about 93% sure he'll read it. Don't tell him I said that. A sweet older gentleman shook my hand and introduced himself to me when I walked in the door. I told him what I was looking for. He showed me a few units that were perfect. One that we chose and was out of stock at aforementioned lackluster lighting place was in stock here! I ended up going with that one and it was about $130 less (I spent less than other places, with upgrades and got exactly what I wanted which, compared to what we've seen, is a bargain!). I opted for an upgraded light kit. I guess they're not used to dealing with friendly people since they gave me a small discount. Now, that having been said, you should check this place out JUST for the awesome vintage pieces they have! They restore fixtures from the 1800's that are simply gorgeous and amazing! I told them that, when I move up in the world, I'm coming back for some. A previous reviewer mentioned the pricey restored fans. If you look at fans online, you might be shocked to find that the nicer units are always pricey. A restored fan that will last another 200 years deserves to be pricey. The prices on those things are not bad, considering. As with all fans these days, you get what you pay for and you can find all sorts of price points.
