After years of discussing renovating our bathroom, the time has finally arrived. We have been…read moreliving in our home for 24+ years. It took about 20 years to have the house painted inside and outside (really did not need painting for many years). Next, over the years we have changed out our countertops, replaced wood flooring in pieces and changed out appliances that were no longer working. Our bathroom is very outdated, which really does not matter to us. However, it has begun to become unfunctional. The bath tub knobs are starting to fall off, tile cracked in several places, and the shower has heating issues. After evaluating several contractors, we decided to move forward. Today we met with a sales representative at ProSource Wholesale, Kathleen, to discuss materials. We did not realize the process was so involved, i.e. choosing the materials in concert with existing materials that will not be changed in the bathroom. Also, tile, backsplash, lighting, mirrors, etc. are all decision points and quite overwhelming. However, we are jumping into the water headfirst! After talking with the sales representative, she advised us to look a Pinterest to get a better idea of what we wanted. Prosource Wholesales offers a plethora of materials - tiles, wood flooring, lighting, knobs, countertops, etc. It reminds me why I never wanted to do a custom home...too many choices. However, one room should be manageable. The process of discussing what we wanted was cathartic and mind blowing. Looking forward to the remodeling journey... On to Pinterest...

They also changed the backsplash shelf design to a shorter length than was originally designed. The worst issue is now we have a crack that developed from one of the corner cuts and they said it isn't covered under any warranty and nothing we can do. The crack is growing.

The sales representative, Gale, was super helpful in pointing us to different types of tile. Their tile types included marble, porcelain and ceramic. They had some very unique designs especially for flooring. The store was very pleasant to tool around in as their air conditioning was ice cold. With 95 degree temperature outside it was a delight to be in Arizona Tile. While Arizona tile has a good selection of tile textures, their tiles were mostly muted colors, i.e, Beiges, tans, whites, off-whites, etc. we only saw one sample that was all color...too much color for us. We are looking for tiles that have with a pop of color. Our bathroom countertops have little speckles of gold. Do we want to play of that color. This was tile company to help narrow out choices. We feel good about where we are in the tile selection journey. We have about six tile companies on the list that we were given by our contractor. Two down.... Four to go.

I fell for a very specific blue quartzite (Ijen Blue). I shopped all over town and all the Ijen Blue slabs were washed out and polished. Leon went above and beyond to make sure I secured 4 slabs of this beautiful material WITH deep color and a honed finish. Leon is professional, incredibly knowledgeable, customer-service oriented and just a wonderful person to do business with. I loved this guy so much, I insisted my fabricator use their quartz as well to finish out my new home build. Quartz is pretty much the same from manufacturer to manufacturer (imho)- but Midwest had everything I needed. I was happy to make sure Midwest got my business. I also felt like their pricing was very fair and reasonable. On our original visit to Midwest, we were lucky enough to have Christy Smeltzer assist us. She helped us choose quartz slabs for our primary bath, guest bedrooms and laundry room. She is also an incredible asset to Midwest. I would recommend Leon, Christy and Midwest Tile to anyone.
