Worst communication I've encountered thus far. The person that talked to me was unresponsive and rude.

This company came out to repair a clogged condensation line that was leaking and in the process damaged the connection to the air handler creating a leak. This leak was discovered upon returning from a vacation and it has damaged a massive amount of our floorboards. This company said someone out who was trying to gaslight me into claiming that the leak was caused by something else other than the attempts to clear the line with their equipment and tried to secretly patch the issue while claiming it wasn't leaking. They claimed that they would come back out for any follow up leaks if they're still there and now when I try to call them, they will not answer. They used my house as a Field for training, one of their newer texts, which fine but I feel like somebody should have been overseeing the work a bit better and actually checking to make sure that no damage was done when the line was attempted to be cleared multiple times, and that didn't work. I don't recommend this company because not only are they negligent with your house. They will then gaslight you and ignore you causing you to need to reach out to another AC repair company to actually get the whole issue resolved. read more

I asked Austin Reliance out to inspect and service my HVAC unit that was part of a home I bought. Frank was great and I would certainly plan to have him and his team back out every 6 months. They also cleaned my unit after I try to do this myself and it was shocking how clean they got the coils. The unit is running better and will hopefully have a few more years of life. Fixed immediate problem, but was pricey for service delivered. Said he would check float switches and never did. Did not look at coils and said it would be another $145.00 visit to do that. I found the float switches on Amazon, but will have difficultly hooking them to motherboard myself. read more

Frank came and did a diagnosis of the HVAC issues we were having. Basically not having enough air flow to certain parts of the floor. He was very detailed and thorough in explaining things and then ultimately scheduling the time to complete all the repair work. He seemed to have an honest personality (which is rare in the Texas HVAC space) and had very fair pricing. His team knocked out the work in one day. These guys were responsive, prompt, respectful, and straightforward. It felt like I was talking with a professional HVAC contractor and not a professional salesman whose job it is to drum up HVAC business. We called them out for a second opinion on a long list of work recommended for a 5 year old system with no problem heating or cooling. When it started to get hot outside, our A/C stopped blowing cold air. Frank was very quick to respond to my request for an estimate and he came out for free. He was able to diagnose the immediate problem and get us up and running that day. We were happy with the results and scheduled for additional work to ensure that our A/C would work efficiently though the whole summer and again, Frank was able to accommodate out scheduling preference and was prompt and professional. He fixed things on our inside unit that a previous company had done wrong - pipes were leaking Frank showed us what he was doing and explained everything clearly. All together, we had a new compressor put in the outside unit, had maintenance cleaning on outside unit, and had the inside unit drained and new pipes put in. I called at 3PM, expecting I'd need to make an appointment for Monday, but he volunteered to come by the same day. He showed up when he said he would, super friendly and he knew what the issue was before he even opened up the outside unit (bad capacitor). He had the right part in his truck and was able to swap it out in 15 minutes, explaining what what was happening as he went (I tend to be curious as to how things work). Our 1st floor HVAC system finally died in early May. It was 18 years old, so it wasn't all that surprising. Living in Austin, we needed to replace it ASAP with the summer approaching. We did a few days of extensive research, and got quotes from five local companies. We were thinking about going with Carrier, but two-stage Carrier units were hard to come by for some reason. I called Frank, and he gave me a fantastic quote on a two-stage Trane system (condenser+furnace). The deal was so good, we couldn't pass it up. That was on a Friday. I then told him we needed a new circuit breaker box for the unit, because it had been fried when the old unit died. He told me he would find an electrician, and then proceeded to book that electrician to come out Monday. (Frank wanted to send the electrician out over the weekend, but it was storming and raining so it wasn't possible.) Not only did the electrician come Monday, but Frank's installers came out that morning as well. The entire thing -- HVAC and electric -- was done by 1 PM on Monday. Not only that, but Frank's guys installed the free ecobee thermostat we got upstairs for us since we already had an ecobee on the first floor. In other words, call Frank at Austin Reliance. Day 1: Called them since my drain line is clogged, also requested an AC tune up. Service charge: $135 Couple of technicians came in and blow the air out in the clogged line. Checked the AC and said everything was fine. Tech used my hose and cleaned the AC unit with water. Total time spent: 30min Day 2: AC goes out. Outside temperature 105-107. Inside its 90. I left a couple of voice messages for no avail. Understandable since it was a Friday night and they don't offer 24/7 emergency services. Day 3: Received call back from Frank and I explained the situation. He says it could be something else that might have gone bad in the AC unit. [Note: Something gone bad in the AC unit the very next day that these check everything and say everything works fine] He promptly sent someone( a helper/ junior tech) to check. The helper tech found the capacitor was OUT. The junior tech called someone else to figure out how to do capacitor connections. Capacitor cost online on Amazon: $15 https://www.amazon.com/45-Round-Dual-Capacitor-12789/dp/B07RML3HP4/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B07RML3HP4&psc=1 Time spent to replace capacitor and check again: 15min. Charge to come in and replace capacitor: $280. How do you explain $280 for a $15 product to be replaced in 15 min by a junior tech and may be a $30 gas price ( I already paid the service charge to come in the previous day). Answer from Frank: Businesses have to pay a lot of people. Pros: Prompt response and same day appointment Cons: Be prepared for outrageous charges. read more

Easily the best HVAC service company in Austin. I've used numerous over the 14 years I've been here and Frank is by far the best. My previous HVAC company who I used for 2 years told me the compressor was broken and had to be replaced. The bigger issue was that he used our rapport in order to lie and misrepresent the status of my system, in order to sell me a completely new one. By comparison, Austin Reliance/Frank identified the issue as a faulty expansion valve, replaced it and saved me $7,000. This required two trips to my home during 100+ degree weather.
