McCullough's technician Sam repaired our AC system with expert problem solving and efficiency; clogged water line caused system to shut down. Having McCullough's comfort contract we were not charged for the visit and analysis. We did pay for labor to cut and flush the waterline and install an access coupling. Sam proposed two solutions, explaining both clearly; showing photos of each way to have future access to flush the water line if needed. His professionalism , expertise, efficiency and clear explanations were much appreciated. This repair reinforced the value of keeping McCullough's comfort contract (2x/year inspections) for Heat and AC maintenance visits including emergency servicing; much needed in 90°+ heat. read more

I needed someone to help me quickly resolve a condensation issue that was detected by our buyer's inspection. McCullough was able to come out the same morning and do an inspection. My technician Ryan Lake was able to quickly find an unsealed joint between the duct and drywall at the moist register and sealed it for me. He completed this service and thoroughly inspected my HVAC equipment (per my request) while tidying and cleaning behind himself everywhere he went. I paid less than $150 for the entire service. I told him I was happy to pay more for the value of service I received but he politely declined. Ryan could not have been more professional and polite. Had McCullough install a new unit in December. Initial techs were friendly, people recommended them McCullough provided great guidance on options. Overall we spent ~15k for the unit and install. We haven't gone 30 days without a breakdown yet. Each time it got qc'd, we were told everything was fixed. So far issues have been : - Badly installed drainage leading to water damage - Debris in drain - Refrigerant leak from install - Blown electrical unit. Every root cause was from something done incorrectly during install. We have damaged and unrepaired siding from install, water damaged drywall and paint from the follow on issues. Inspite of these repeated issues from install and failures, each call out for no AC has been treated as if we were calling for the first time and the only proactive communication was for ensuring the city code inspector passed it. read more

McCullough installed our H-VAC system about 3 years ago. We have had to call them out various times. We had them out a couple of weeks ago when the "fixed" the problem. Our system is now off line and we cannot turn it on. We are extremely uncomfortable and annoyed. McCullough says they cannot send someone out until tomorrow and we will be charged again. That is very poor business. They say they are "open" 24/7 but the only answer you get is an AI voice. read more

Yesterday, I was replacing the furness filter and saw a centipede being tangled up by a spider. When my wife came to observe she got a flashlight to spot webs. Looking up she was concerned about open spaces to the attic. We called McCullough and they came out this morning and closed up all of the open spaces. This is three years after they installed the unit and they were so responsive and didn't charge to do this! Mark and Christian were very conscientious about their work, laying down tarps and over shoe slippers while in the house. After the job, Mark offered to use his portable nail gun to add support to the trim that had previously been cracked many years earlier. I am very impressed with the customer service response and remedy to issue, even though the open spaces are not necessay to be sealed. They sold me a comfort package for $28 per month for a year which included biannual inspections. I sold my house and they would not transfer the package to the new owner, they would not let me transfer the package to my new house and they would not let me cancel. I had to pay off the remaining 7 months of the package. I found it unbelievable that they were willing to lose a customer rather than $160 for which they did no work! Overbilling and robotic, difficult telephone communications. Appointments are by "Jane", a robot. Calling after service to review a bill requires lots of automated menu choices and then getting switched around among humans. The serviceman charged us over $900 to open a single drain under a bathroom sink to drain two clogged A/C pans in the attic. He then checked our system and found no problems. When I called to ask for a bill review, I finally got a finance person who said that the bill had irregularities, and that they would call back. No callback. I called again, a week later, and after going through all the automated trails and finally reaching a human (who after listening to the story transferred me to another human after a 15 minute wait) who said the bill was correct. They used to be a fine company. I will not use them again. read more

Then, we needed a new heating strip at $700, even though we're under warranty and with a maintenance plan. That night our heating dropped by ten degrees after the technician fumbled with wiring and reset the panel without our permission. We slept in 40-degree temperatures in our house for two days! We are still awaiting a reply and solution. When I call them, my calls go "offshore" to the Philippines. I cannot speak to anyone local to problem solve. Like others, we have used McCullough heating and Air for years, and they always did great work. Then my husband went and saw what he thought was moisture, but couldn't be certain if it was from an active leak or not. I called to get someone over and it took three days of back and forth calls just to decide if it was a maintenance or diagnostic type request. I am not a master plumber. I do not know these things. Anyway, they kept calling and so I agreed to whatever they felt was best for this Friday, with the same 8-5 window as others. Nothing all day, and finally a call at 5, only to say they couldn't make it. I called today to see what happened. I was pretty polite, I thought, just trying to see what happened. I was "unfortunately disconnected" twice before getting any answers. I called again, and realized I will not get anything beyond, we were busy and couldn't make it. It would have been courteous to just text/call/email to tell the customer that they would not be able to make the window, so the client could do something else. It was time for a new AC so I got a few quotes from services that met my criteria and looked good. It was not an emergency, but the system was 20+ yrs old (living on borrowed time!). Coincidentally I was talking with my neighbor just before picking an installer, and he gave a pretty great review for McCullough, especially their service. I typically approach with caution, though. I'd been through several reps from other companies by this time, so I was not expecting much, but scheduled an appointment as a courtesy to my neighbor? Not really sure why I did, but the first impression with the sales rep German /Herman/ was very accommodating and credible. After a little additional product research over the next couple of evenings on the Carrier products (vs. Lennox that I was about to go with, and still would) and McCullough, I had made up my mind to go with these guys on the basis of the recommendation and apparent value in the product and in the warranties and services of McCullough specifically. Installers showed up on time when installation day arrived. There were 3 of them, young polite guys, and they worked like pistons all day in my small attic. At the end of the day they had the areas of the house where they worked as clean as they found it, which was clean. (I'll rebut complaints about the work ethic of the new generation after this experience.) Yesterday we had the follow up visit by a senior technician, Jimmy, who double checked the work of the installers from a couple/few weeks prior. I feel like we are in good hands. We got a two-stage unit, which I would certainly defend as quiet. It's worth noting the condenser is right outside the bedroom windows. I would say that the condenser and the HVAC unit in the house are both very acceptably quiet. Thought I'd interject this note since that was a concern of mine while researching. Also, don't over think the tonnage, SEER, and house energy efficiency (like I have). It can be unnecessarily exhausting. To-date, my neighbor's recommendation appears spot on. Their service rep left my attic door open since November 1, 2024 after I explained that the door must be closed or the heat and cold pours through the cabinet doors which are only their for esthetics. I noticed it was harder to cool and now heat the house since their maintenance. Today, Dec 10, we had terrible winds making the temps chill to 35 degrees. I heard the attic cabinet doors banging and when I went to investigate saw that the attic inner door was laying inside the attic. The door was not closed. It takes a ladder and two people to reach the attic and close it properly. I called their service department, three times as I was not getting good vibes about getting this fixed today though they assured me James will be reaching out to fix this. No call. There office will be closing soon. Third time I elevated to management (who hides behind the curtains). Finally James called. He promised that he would find a guy with a ladder and they'd come out and close the attic TONIGHT. He never showed. I purchased service maintenance contracts and two Carrier HVAC systems through this company. I guess they don't care once they have your money. read more

Vladimir was the best player of the day and Tommy on the phone thru the emergency maintenance line I called I don't know why or what happened when Jaiden came over or what happened but I have come to review edit differently with less distaste for the company great techs like Vlad are important I still feel strongly about the bad service of the customer support and scheduling is problematic for sure and definitely needs improvement so glad Vlad was the guy sent out great person and good talking to him very knowledgeable and attentive to the trade and his skills thank you for sending him and he deserves a raise! As far as bad operations and scheduling management is still my view this would be my second time dealing with issues involving bad reps over the phone and no sort of care for customer support and satisfaction even hearing the manager over the phone speak of me as he did " is he giving you troubles?"...I'm not here to make troubles but ti be honest and blunt man about situations I find unreasonable and unsatisfactory. I would give ZERO stars if possible! I purchased a new AC and furnace in Oct, 2024. In only 6 months, it has stopped working for one reason or another five times!! And it isn't even summer yet! When it failed the fourth time, I requested it be replaced with a new unit as this one appears to be a LEMON. McCullough insists on continuing to send out repairmen. When it failed again last night, I asked again for it to be replaced. In previous repairs they found a faulty compressor (on a brand new unit), then the repairman hadn't reset things correctly, causing another failure. Today they stated I don't replace the filters often enough, although I have receipts showing they are replaced every month (when the AC isn't even being used that much), the most recent only a few days ago. In 15 years with my previous AC, I NEVER had so many repairs or issues! No issues with drainage or filters. No issues with failed parts. No issues with the repairmen. Phenomenal service! Called McCullough on Tuesday morning and they had a technician out same day. James was very professional and explained everything to me as he did his diagnostic work. The next morning he picked up the parts and we were chilling by early afternoon. James made some recommendations regarding regular maintenance including the installation of a UV light to kill and prevent "biological buildup" which you and I call mold. We took his advice and had him install it. What I really appreciate is that James and McCullough were able to work with the manufacturer to allow all parts to be covered under the warranty which had expired just days earlier. McCullough got a tough install at my residence. Apparently, the first unit installed was not level causing repeated leaks. The original install had issue after issue, and even caused some damage to my carpet and drywall. While I had my doubts, almost a year later, we have a resolution. I will hand it to McCullough's team. Even though they were handed frustration, headaches, and an impatient customer (me), they eventually sorted it out. They ended up uninstalling, replacing, leveling, and reinstalling the unit, and even took care of my property damages. It is rare for a company to make you whole when installs go sideways and end up costing them money. I gave the company hell because of my own frustrations dealing with the repeated issues. Warranted? Maybe...I will say that it took longer than expected to get the issure resolved. But this was during the Summer, and I have no visibility to the company's workload. I suspect this was the reason. Give this company a shot if you're looking for a new HVAC install. They have proven they actually care about their work and finding solutions to all problems. Have been a customer of McCullough since 2016 and man, do they deliver on quality components and outstanding service. A Mini-split system that we had installed back in 2018 had begun making a waterfall in our dining room because the condensate drain wasn't working properly. I contacted McCullough and within a couple of days they had a real professional, named Matt, who showed up, ready to tackle the job. After a few short tests, Matt was able to deduce exactly what the problem was and begin effecting repairs immediately. I was very impressed by his dedication to the job and his willingness to tackle the obstacles that come along with mini splits. The space to work in is incredibly small and there's a lot packed in to a very tiny area. So my hat is off to Matt. He got the issue resolved by locating a leaking drain tube which was pouring all of the condensation back into the pan. Thus overflowing the pan like Niagara Falls. In the end, the price point was just incredibly good and the repairs were effective and timely. My family will always use McCullough's service. And my hat is off to them. read more

Well, our terrible McCullough experience continues. Today we find the furnace vent pipe is leaking around it from the installation. No other roof leaks, not leaks there before installation. Still debris and mess in the attic. Upcharge for new ducting "needed" does not work as well as previous ducting. They say we have to pay for a weekend service call and repairs.
