I scheduled an appointment with Greg's heating and air and their technician came out. Charged me the fee to come out and another fee to clean the coils of my a/c to check pressure of my refrigerant. Told me everything was fine and fed me a line that they changed a setting to make the A/C pull air less often outside the system which I googled later couldn't find anything on. Tinkered around for a while then left saying system would cool off in a couple hours. It's morning and the a/c is hotter inside than it is outside. Waste of money. read more

I received a prompt reply and the offer to come over immediately for $165 (evening hours) or they could come next day for $59 plus cost of new thermostat and whatever extra labor was needed. The rep who gave me the quote, the technician, and the dispatcher were all friendly and professional. The rep did not try to use any high-pressure sales tactics and actually did the opposite, telling me that some of the fixes I thought I would need to my AC unit were unnecessary. The fixes I did choose he did not try to paint as urgent that I needed to pay for right away, but simply told me that IF the part eventually failed, it would be a bigger inconvenience for me to have replaced at the time. It started out well, but.... I described my problem over the phone, that my AC was acting up and I wanted a second opinion on whether to repair or replace my system. An appointment for the next day was available and he arrived on time. He seemed to know his business, but just about talked my ear off, about AC repair and everything else under the sun. He took many pics and measurements and said he would pass the info on to "the boss," who would follow up with details. And then...crickets. After 24 hours, I texted to ask when I might expect to hear an estimate, but I never got a reply. He was very nice to work with, and I really wanted to give him our business, but he was not part of the city of Austin total house rebate program for hvac replacement which does more than just replace the HVAC. I cannot say enough about this company and its employees. From the first conversation with Jackie who answered the phone she was very professional, friendly and genuinely concerned of my situation. We're talking 90 degrees plus temps! She was able to schedule someone that same day. They show up introduced themselves and immediately began looking over my unit. They were very thorough and kept me informed during the entire diagnoses process. They determined that the unit was low in freon. We discussed options and we determined we should check for leaks in the unit. Went up in attic they opened the air handler to access the coils and thoroughly began to check for leaks using both bubbles and electronic sniffer. Mind you I was right there with them as they checked, unfortunately a leak was found. Again, options were discussed and I did not want to risk topping off the unit with freon just for the leak to get worse and repeat the process. I decided to replace the unit. They went inside the house to look at layout such as the return and outlets and questions like which rooms stayed warmer when the ac was on. I showed them the areas then they went back up in the attic to look at the duct runs for those specific areas. I was sent via email three units pricing to choose from. Two days later two installers arrived and they were very professional and polite and like the techs they provided all the details what they were doing to install the unit. The install was very professionally done. They cleaned up around the units. After a few hours the unit was up and running. I then get a call from one of the owners to let me know a tech was being sent out to do an overall inspection of the install and to measure temps and reset the thermostat and answer in additional questions. Totally awesome! After a few days I get a follow up call from the owners asking if all was going well and to let me know that he filed the warranty with the manufacture and a copy of that warranty was sent to my email. Two weeks now and all is running well. Folks if you have AC problems or need to install a unit you must look into this company. In my opinion you would be making a big mistake by not using them, I highly recommend them. You just don't get this type of service, professionalism and friendliness today. OUTSTANDING! Our A/C stopped working, and the company we used to use in San Marcos is no longer reliable, the old man that used to be there isn't there anymore. So we called Greg's and they are fantastic. All they had to do was blow the clog out, but they did more than that. They tested it numerous times and found that the loop of the drainage wasn't good so they adjusted what the previous company had done and made it better. And there was no charge for doing that. Do you want your A/C to work properly? Do you want real workers, rather than kids? Do you want a company that knows what they are doing? Do you want a company that cares about their customers? Was not very impressed with this company. Our AC was blowing our breaker a few times a day and we had to go and reset it. After spending 15 mins outside "testing" they came back and said we could pay them 4k for new coils and coolant or 13k+ for a new AC. Called another company and they actually tried to fix our AC....diagnosed the problem and installed replacement capacitor and a new breaker in our panel just in case - we paid less then $400 for this repair. I can't help but feel like this company is just interested in the big pay day not actually fixing your issues... read more

I think I've done four previous Yelp review in 20 years. After my experience with Greg's Heating and Air today, I felt compelled to post this. My A/C unit blinked out last night. Anticipating the formidable challenge of finding a company that could resolve my A/C problem promptly, professionallly and at a reasonable cost, with dread and trepidation I hopped on Yelp to hopefully find a reputable HVAC repair company. After reading a number of reviews of several HVAC companies, I saw one clear choice - Greg's Heating and Air. Standout qualities were fast response times, outstanding communications, and honest work/pricing. I contacted Greg's via Yelp after 10 p.m. and received an immediate response. I was scheduled for a service call at 10 a.m. with a technician from Greg's. I received a text around 9:45 a.m. informing me that Robert (pic included) was en route and he followed up the text with a phone call. He arrived around 10 a.m. and it took him approximately 10 minutes to diagnose the issue - my A/C motor was kaput. He made a call to the office and then informed me that a new motor was in stock, quoted a price, and said it would be installed today. Music to my sweaty ears on a hot Texas day in August! Fifteen minutes later I got a text from Jeremy (pic included), another Greg's technician, stating that he would be by to install the new motor between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. I received another text from Jeremy at 3:52 p.m. notifying me that he was en route. He arrived shortly thereafter and promptly installed the new motor. We all realize how far customer service has fallen across the board in the last few years. Unfortunately, we've grown so accustomed to being frustrated/disappointed dealing with businesses, we expect the worst. So when you have an experience with a company that does exactly what it says it'll do, when it says it'll do it and at the price it says it'll do it for, you're shocked. Greg's delivered flawless and seamless customer service along with superior communications and technical expertise. Bam! I certainly don't want any more A/C issues, but if/when another one arises, I will only contact Greg's Heating and Air! After doing a internet search for the highest rated heating and AC around Austin, I chose Greg's due to their high customer reviews. I was very pleased with the level of service provided and also that the technician, Isaac, took the time to explain each test and the results in detail. They did not try to upsell me into a new, expensive HVAC unit. The tests showed that the air filter I was using was too dense and was causing the system to work too hard to pull air through the filter. Very inexpensive fix and this was all since fur the $59 diagnosis. Will recommend Greg's in the future. read more

Our upstairs unit was not working well at all. I called Greg's by recommendation from my son, who was very pleased with their work. In short order, Robert came out and inspected the system and determined we had a faulty damper. He measured the damper and then provided an estimate for a replacement. I agreed and the next day Jeremy came out with the replacement damper and performed the installation. He also inspected my a/c compressor letting me know all was within correct specification. Called Greg's Heating and Air first thing in the morning because my AC was working intermittently. They had a service technician out that afternoon. He quickly diagnosed that the float switch in my overflow pan was tripping due to water build up. He was able to quickly clear the drain line and get things back in working order. While it may not have been a big job or too difficult, the fact that in the heat of the Austin summer Greg's was able to send a technician out in a matter of hours speaks volume to why I am a repeat customer. We gradually became very disappointed with our long-time AC service company over the last couple of years so when our AC decided to take some time off the other day, it seemed a good time to move on. There were several on the internet that presented well and had many good comments. But I kept going back to Greg's. Tons of great comments, but there's something extra, something different there, too: Greg himself has years of experience and is knowledgeable and capable of delivering what one hopes for when hiring AC help, but there's also the sense that he loves his business and wants his clients to love it also. To that end the tech (Isaac, I think) could not have done more. Communicated arrival time and actually arrived even a bit sooner, showed great interest and intention of solving the problem, for starters. He was very thorough in evaluating the issue and meticulous in satisfying himself that the AC was working perfectly when done.
