The chicken is amazing especially when paired with the mashed potatoes. Umami sauce is a great option for this and also with the blistered shishitos , which are great! Chicken Bolognese and the pizza are also great. They offer small bites and drinks on their happy hour and they do 1/2 bottles of wine on Tuesdays! Overall a GREAT place for a meal. Doughbird had been on my bookmarked list for SUCH a long time so I knew I had to try it before I left the PHX area. I ordered takeout online and came by to pick it up -- unfortunately did end up waiting about 25 min past the expected pick up time which was a slight bummer. There are pick up parking spaces out front but those fill up too so sometimes people have to park elsewhere then come over and ask for their order. I got the wild mushroom pizza for myself and the aviator for my friend as well as the potato wedges as a side. The mushroom pizza was delicious -- definitely something I would get again. My friend loved the aviator as well and said it had a great spread of toppings. The potato wedges I wouldn't really get again - they were pretty bland and didn't really stand out. Overall, a pretty good pizza experience but be prepared for a crowd and a wait if you go at a peak time, even if you order ahead. read more

My now 26 year old son and I have been coming here almost since its inception in 2017. He was a freshman in college at U of A when we first started coming here. Every trip to visit me in Phoenix we would make a Meca to Doughbird. This was his favorite restaurant. That's saying a lot as he grew up in Chicago proper and Manhattan. Fast forward to this evening... My son is now 26 and lives in South Florida. He is visiting but was determined to go to Doughbird while he was visiting. The first thing we noticed was how empty it was at 6 PM. Usually prime time for people here in the Valley. A second thing we noticed was the menu had changed significantly. Their "bread and butter"or shall I say pizza and chicken cornerstones which they were known for is no longer the focal point or featured on the menu. In the past, you could order a quarter, half or a full chicken and it came with your choice of sides as well as different dipping sauces. That was the novelty of it. They have since added items like prime rib and other items that make absolutely no sense, since the restaurant was founded on chicken and pizza and why is named Doughbird! The rotisserie chicken is now only a single entrée served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. You don't get to select your sides, although the waitress was kind enough to let us substitute his once favorite mac & cheese for the mashed potatoes. There were three of us and we shared a pepperoni pizza for an appetizer. As I mentioned growing up in Chicago and Manhattan, my son is a Pizza aficionado. The pizza was tasteless and the crust soggy. We didn't have much time to enjoy our pizza when our entrées arrived. The chicken looked like it had been cooked in the rotisserie stored in a refrigerator and then reheated. Very dry. We have had better luck with Costco chickens. The broccoli was limp and the mac & cheese had barely any cheese and more mac. Not the way it used to be. Our other guest had the prime rib and he did comment that it was very good so we will give that high marks. The Service was average, but I for one will not be returning. What used to be a unique concept when Fox owned it has now turned into a below grade Cheesecake Factory with a much more abbreviated menu. Oh funny since Fox sold it to Cheesecake Factory . When we asked our server why the menu changed 6 months ago from a primarily rotisserie chicken and pizza place was that "customers got very confused with too many choices with regard to the rotisserie chicken sizes, sides and the side sauces" . I've worked in the industry myself, and I think it has nothing to do with too many choices, (least we forget that this is owned by cheesecake factory, who happens to have the most items on any menu, probably in the world) but everything to do with cutting food costs and resting on the former name and positive following. It's not surprising that the folks who most recently reviewed Doughbird came here for the first time. Most were fairly positive, but not all. I did the $32 family rotisserie chicken with a Caesar salad and mac n cheese. From the time I ordered on their website to curbside pickup, it was only 15 minutes which was really impressive! The food was still hot when we got home. The chicken I felt was similar to chicken you would get from Whole Foods or Sprouts- tender & tasty. The mac n cheese was delicious using larger shell pasta. My sis came to visit & we needed a lunch that was easy & tasty. I drive by the is location all the time, so we decided to finally venture in. First impression was great! The inside is bright and clean, and there is direct view of the open kitchen where you can see the pizza magic happing. The hostess was so welcoming! She really got our visit off to a great start. We had my two kids with us, so we asked for a booth. The hostess seemed happy to accommodate and quickly cleaned & set a table. The server was just as pleasant. She knew all of the answers to our menu questions and brought us everything we needed in a timely manner. All of the food was delicious. The kids didn't care for the Kids Cheese Pizza, but at only 5 and 3 years old, what do they know? LOL They did fall in love with the guacamole, which was super interesting with chopped tangerines, almonds & apples in it. Overall, we could definitely see what all the hype is about. Service wasn't great, it was not busy at all, plenty of servers and it took 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us and an additional 5+ to bring us water. However, the food was delicious. I split the Copper Hat and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was ok but the Copper Hat was incredible. The dough is soft and the pizza itself was very flavorful. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful! Especially for date night which is what I did with my partner. Our waitress was superb and recommended our appetizer and dessert. When we got the Brussels sprouts it was ok. I had to add some Parmesan cheese to add more flavor and they were very much on the oily side to the point the crispness of the Brussels were getting soggy from it. Then we split the Caesar salad and it wasn't all that. I do believe it is over priced for cheap romaine lettuce and sauce. I did like how airy the croutons were though so that was a plus. When we ordered our pizzas we weren't sure if we wanted the hand stretched or the Detroit style so our waitress recommended the style for each pizza. I personally would have just stuck with the hand stretched since it was less oily. The Aviary pizza was ok in flavor. The pepperoni and bacon was too crispy and not enough cheese. The sauce tasted commercial on it and again, super oily but that one I let it slide since the crust was perfectly crispy. The black truffle pizza was my absolute favorite and would order again! Everything about it was phenomenal. Highly recommend! Now, for the desert. This was recommended by our waitress and she said it was definitely a fan favorite. But I couldn't see why. The cake was dry.. the sauce oily and tasted a little on the burnt side but some people do like that flavor. The ice cream was your typical vanilla flavor. As you can see from the image I applied... you can see the layer of oil. Pretty much sums up the food lol oily. My partner is a fan of oily foods so he'd definitely be back. The food was delicious! We got the Spicy rigatoni and the aviator pizza and they absolutely amazing! I would 100% recommend the spicy rigatoni to anyone as it's not very spicy. It has a little bit of spice as you bite into it but that's about it, nothing too bad to handle. My only issue was how close the tables were where we were seated. While we did not order chicken, it seemed wrong not to try the pizza. Pizzas are thin crust, but still large enough to share. Crust is light and airy. Pesto and artichoke pizza is warm and comforting. Garden chopped salad is fresh. Champagne vinegarette is bright and flavorful. Potato wedges that were served with the prime rib dip were cold. The prime rib was ordered medium. Meat served was well done. Bread tasted house made. Do not skip the Nutella brownie. Rich and thick brownie with a dollop of Nutella baked into the center. Brownie is topped with a dry and crunchy hazelnut merengue. Chopped hazelnuts are folded into the merengue. Hazelnut crunch is what makes this dessert truly unique. If that wasn't enough, the dessert is served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and homemade fudge sauce. This dessert is enough to be it's own meal. Inside is light and bright. Almost a polished farmhouse feel. A large and open dining area. Both booths and tables are available. There is enough space for groups. read more

Met with some colleagues for an early dinner. The place was packed. And rightfully so. Their menu items looked absolutely delicious and it's not all chicken by the way. Our server was absolutely wonderful. I'm sorry I did not catch his name. He made sure that we had everything timely and hot or whatever it was that we ordered, he recommended appetizers and brought our drinks and kept our glasses filled. The only drawback was it was very loud in there so it was difficult to hear each other talk. I had the chicken pot pie. That was absolutely amazing. The Lebanese hummus with the Lebanese bread and Cruté were equally as awesome. The Shishido peppers that were grilled and the dip weren't very spicy, which is how I like it and those were also tasty. The pizza that two of the tables had looked absolutely wonderful. One was a cracker, thin crust and the other was a thin crust and they were literally inhaled. They were so good. A few had salmon. I had seen the special which was the Mediterranean watermelon salad with couscous and a champagne vinaigrette, which I was going to get, but I really wanted to try the pot pie. Went here last night for the first time with a group of 5 for my birthday and it certainly had a cozy and rustic feel when walking up, especially with the fireplace lit. Food was a wreck as our table had a dairy allergy. They brought over the peppers appetizers with dairy sauce squeeze all over, even after our server assured us it was only on the side. Great that they didn't add this dish to our bill. Same went for the pizza, when it was ordered without cheese. (I know, why are you in a pizza joint if you can't have cheese) but many places can accommodate not putting a handful of cheese on top. The experditer brining food/helping servers even brought it over saying "the aviator pizza with no cheese", then sat it down and it was topped with cheese. LOL I just chuckled. Our server brought over the cupcakes (allergy friendly) that we brought in and just gave us forks. No knife or plates, so we just ate them caveman style. Came post Covid-19. All employees were wearing mask. Place looked and smelled very clean. Came at lunch hour and ample seating and social distancing put into play. We both had salad. My coworker had Watermelon salad with salmon. Looked good. I got the Garden Chopped Salad with chicken. I really enjoyed my salad. So may flavors. I didnt need to add the chicken. Chicken was seasoned good but i just wasn't necessary on my salad. I got a side of their harvest doughbread and it was so good. I want more of that bread. I love coming to Doughbird for their pizza! I always have to get their Cesar salad because it tastes SO FRESH! I have to come back and try their rotisserie chicken! Pizza is made to order, so it might take a while to come out! Parking can be a hassle sometimes depending on when you come. We went on a Sunday and there was complimentary valet parking. I think it was for morning time only because we left at 3pm and the valet was gone. They do take reservations because sometimes it can get super busy! read more

This time started with the Caesar salad, and have to say one of the best Caesars I have had (only better was Berns in Tampa). Had the Navigator pizza again, and again they NAILED it!
