Found this place by accident while traveling. It immediately took me back to Denmark very modern and Scandinavian setting inside. The coffee is really good even though this is located in a suburb. I would definitely like to come here and just relax in the evening. The only down side is that it's a little far away from the city. But hey it's great for the locals. Highly recommended. read more

Love this place so much, from the flowers on the table to the fancy lattes and the cheese shop attached, this place is great! I've tried the chai tea latte, cappuccino, latte, matcha latte and the cold brew here, all good! Also, all the bakeries items are so yummy. COVID Procedure and Health Concerns We ordered a gift box from Dom's for the holidays, but the employee gave us the wrong order. Several hours later, an employee called and explained the orders were mixed up and asked to return the food items. Due to the fact that it was the middle of a busy work day and we wouldn't have time to drive an hour out of our way 2 days before Christmas, we offered to throw away the current order (and send them pictures) and receive the correct one via mail or work something else out. The employee refused and insisted we return the order, which made it clear that they intended to still give these items to the original customer. This was our concern from the beginning, given the fact that we are in the middle of a pandemic and had already touched the food and unwrapped some items, and to be honest, we did not trust that the same thing had not happened to our original order. To make things worse, the owner got on the phone and then blamed us for the mistake, claiming we purposefully took the wrong order, even though we clearly stated the name our order was under multiple times at pick-up and the employee who handed us the bag confirmed our name (which by the way is different enough from the other customer's name to know the difference). We'd like to say this is a one-off incident of poor customer service, but friends of ours have confirmed there are multiple complaints against the owner. It's really a shame, given that we were trying to do the right thing from a health perspective during a pandemic while still supporting a small business, but given the fact that they tried to blame us when we offered a reasonable solution, I can definitely say this will be our first and last experience here. read more

I rated Doms 1 star because of poor service. I've been there a few times. Each time it's a 20+ minute wait to get a coffee and egg sandwich. The person who takes your order also then prepares the speciality coffee instead of someone in the back to make the drink orders. So if there are a few people in front be prepared to stand outside (in any weather) and wait and wait and wait! AND, their coffee is average at best. The coffee across the street at the coffee brewer is superior to Doms. So, if you like overpriced average coffee with long wait times have at it. read more

Where's the 6th star when I need it? The space: So inviting, modern, chic, clean, simple - and pristine. Plenty of outlets, free WiFi, and lots of seating. The coffee: AWESOME! Such a wonderful taste - the Maple Latte wasn't sweet, it was perfect. The snacks: Plenty of baked good choices to pick on. Obsessed with this place. Bright, airy, welcoming, & clean. You would want to spend your entire day surrounded by the beautiful interior details (designed by Rehabitat, gorgeous!). Not only is their interior straight out of a pottery barn catalog, but their coffee is phenomenal too. They use J. Rene so they know what they are doing. I've had the maple latte, chai latte, & the mocha (my favorite). You'll find a mix found of people here, from friends & families catching up to individuals on their laptops or with a book. Super chill local coffee shop, great vibe, cool owners and staff. I love J. Rene coffee which they serve but I wish they carried a wider variety of beans as you are restricted to their basic coffee blend and their Italian roast but J. Rene roasts a ton of insanely good single origin stuff which I'd prefer and instead, get from his West Hartford location. Their bakery products are pretty good overall. They have some wildly good cinnamon rolls from (I think) Better Half Bistro in New Hartford. The muffins from (I think) Hartford Baking Company are so-so, like a bit sweet and their scones are a bit on the dry side (more than what I personally would prefer). Overall pretty cool place! Would also be awesome if they carried oat milk for lattes. read more

The coffee is wonderful and I appreciate what this small, family-owned business is offering the community. It's very minimalist and open inside. It's pretty, but there is something very sterile. It's like the Apple Store for coffee. Not warm and inviting. They get the lowest rating because they would not make my coffee. I drink my coffees with half and half or cream because of my weird dietary restrictions with lighter milks. I ordered two cappuccinos to stay, but asked that one of them be made with half and half or cream. She said no. I asked if they had half and half or cream. She said yes. I asked them why they couldn't steam it for me like they do the whole milk. She said they would not. She said my only options for steamed milk would be whole milk or skim milk. Bizarre. Every other coffee shop has steamed cream for me. She was not particularly friendly. Oddly enough, there's another coffee place literally a stones throw across the street. I'm sitting in there right now....Comfortable, cozy and inviting....as I sip my cappuccino with steamed cream. read more

I stopped here back in the spring when I happened to be driving on Route 44. With all the love on Yelp, I had no choice to stop in to try. By far, this place was the most stylish coffee shop I have ever been to. I felt like I was inside a Crate and Barrel catalog. Since I have never had a matcha latte, I ordered one rather than my usual coffee-based drink. The Eastern European baristas were very welcoming and there was even a phone-based rewards program. Speaking of Europe, there were two separate prices for drinks; one for drinking-in and the other for takeaway, with the takeaway costing more money. A former colleague and I were looking to continue our conversation after a more formal business lunch and, neither of us knowing much about Avon, we thought we would give it a try. We were a bit skeptical when we saw signs pointing to a cheese shop. That said, we were very pleasantly surprised to walk into a cute and trendy coffee shop that was more spacious than it appeared from its unassuming exterior. The cappuccino I ordered was tasty. My colleague ordered the charcoal mocha, which turned out to be a lot of foamed milk with some mocha and espresso. Overall, we were satisfied with our drinks. Just be prepared, the prices are a bit steep. read more

Stopped into Dom's with a friend for the first time this week. The space is GORGEOUS. Sunlit, minimalist, lots of special little hidden corners where two people can have a nice, private talk together. The cup of coffee I had was lovely. The poppyseed scone I had was delicious. The cost was, frankly, absolutely outrageous. $3.50 for my cup of coffee, $4.00 for the scone. The patented cheese they sell is delicious. My friend and I tried a small bag of the 12-month aged cheese chunks ($5.55, I believe). I would definitely come back for the cheese. But for coffee with a friend, I'm headed back across the street to my favorite place, The Coffee Trade. Their prices are realistic, their faces are friendly, there are plenty of little corners to sit in with a friend in the back, and I always love perusing their little store of treasures in the front. ...$3.50 for an 8-oz. cup of coffee is too expensive, even for the Avon zip code. Maybe they'll steal some business away from the Simsbury Starbucks down the road next to Lenscrafters? read more

Strangest thing. Ordered a 16oz decaf coffee. Rang me up. Paid for the 16oz. Then barista (who was very nice about it) said that I shouldn't have 16oz because it is an Americano. Stopped here randomly on our way to the Mark Twain House. Saw the "Cheese Shop" sign and pulled in. Decided to get lunch and sit outside on a gorgeous day. Ordered a cheese board and a Prosciutto sandwich along with two Iced Dirty Chai lattes. First...the lovely woman who helped us select our cheese board made some wonderful suggestions. All was delicious and served beautifully. Next up was the Dirty Chai...not too sweet, spiced and iced. Perfect for the 80' sunny day. I will be honest and say that I didn't love the prosciutto sandwich, but only because it was too messy for me. The flavor was amazing. What a lovely spot! We went today on a gorgeous Sat afternoon (around 12:30), and we had a great time hanging out in the massive shop! I got a pomegranate iced tea and my boyfriend got a cappuccino, and we both got some amazing tree cake. We chatted with the owner for a bit and he brought over some Lithuanian cheese samples (seriously delicious). If we weren't in such a hurry we would have explored the cheese case a bit more and bought something. Next time! read more

Stumbled upon this place last weekend & it's quickly becoming a favorite. It's an awesome place to hang out - the indoor decor is open, clean and welcoming. A long beautiful wood table when you walk in really promotes community. Big windows bring in lots of sunlight. I haven't had the famous tree cake yet, but the lattes are fantastic - the maple latte has just the right amount of sweetness. ALSO the latte art is beautiful.
