It was not great. I was driving by and thought I'd stop and get a maple donut since they're my favorite and though they are somewhat of a staple in the Pacific Northwest I don't always find them in Chicago. And I'd never been to Dizzy Dean's, even though they've been there for a long time. Anyway, their donuts are not the worst I've ever had but nowhere near the best--if you want that, head a few miles north to Cal's on River Ave. I'm glad I tried Dizzy Dean's because now I know, but I won't need to come back.

Huge variety of donuts at various price points. I ordered a surprise bag through third party app and got a great variety and well worth the price point. Would return to try other varieties or purchase another variety bag if I was in the area.

Delicious!! Came here at the recommendation of a townie. Hot fresh donuts when the sign is lit (similar to a national franchise, only better!) Their donuts are so good and so fresh! I wanted only 1or 2 and I ended up walking aways with about half a dozen. I didn't need that many! The bacon donut was especially delicious--the salty sweet gets me all the time! Whole strips of bacon, not bacon crumbles that I'm used to seeing!! Their cruller and the raised donuts all so good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their donuts!

Shout out to Dizzy Dean's today! I stopped by on a Sunday morning whim to pick up a chocolate iced old fashioned. COVID protocols are in place and evident in the shop, including masking signs, marked areas to stand, and closed seating signs. I didn't realize there's a $2.50 minimum charge for credit cards, so the young guy at the counter suggested I get two donut holes (20¢/ea) to bring my total over the minimum. I asked him to pick the flavors for me, and as a result, I just ate the *best* blueberry donut hole of my entire existence. This blueberry donut hole tastes like a full night of sleep after payday feels. This blueberry donut hole should win a Miss America talent competition. This blueberry donut hole should run for school board president. This blueberry donut hole should be knighted and canonized. Do I suggest it? Hundo p.

Sorry for the partially eaten donut pic - couldn't resist! Ok so first off, I love that this place has a warm donut case. The chocolate one was warmed and it's like biting into pure bliss. The donut with the fruit loops on it was the showstopper. Maybe there was too much icing, but everything else about it was just right. The cereal was surprisingly crunchy - I was ready for it to be soggy from the moisture from the icing like other cereal-topped deserts I've tried. The bacon on the maple bar was C R I S P. The crueler was nice and poofy. The donut itself was light and fluffy (wasn't oily or oily tasting like some others). Wish I could have these every day.

Good doughnuts. Good coffee. Good customer service despite the rush hour busy times.

This place isn't sanitary. Mold in the freezer door seals. Never use sanitizer on dishes

Ask the Community - Dizzy Dean's Donuts

    Is this location peanut free?

No. They do give out free water if you want it dumped on your head when youre freezing cold though

If it's 24/7 shop, then what would is a good time frame in the morning to shoot for maximum donut freshness?

It's not about how fresh the donuts are, it's about how cold the water is and whether it's served in cups or thrown on random homeless people.

Customer service was really good... very friendly. I got home, and ate the apple fritter first... and loved it. It was really excellent. I stopped in here on a whim this morning and am so glad I did. I recently moved to the River Rd…read morearea and have been looking for some good local businesses to support. I came in around 9am and got a dozen donuts for myself and my partner. We already had some by the time I got a picture at home, we couldn't wait! The gentleman working the counter greeted me immediately and grabbed the donuts for me. He was very sweet and diligent. I got two glazed, two Bavarian crème, two chocolate glazed, two sugar cakes, a cinnamon sugar cake, a powdered sugar cake, a cinnamon twist, and a chocolate bar. We've only had a couple so far and they've been delicious. The cake donuts are amazing - great flavor, perfectly balanced, fluffy texture. Not oily at all like store-bought cake donuts tend to be. The non-cake donuts are amazing too. We haven't had a single bite that wasn't delicious. I paid $21.25 for a dozen donuts. They only take cash so make sure you have some with you when you go. The prices vary depending on what you get. It may seem pricey but it's definitely worth it to support a local business run by sweet people who make delicious treats. I will definitely be back!
