We are down in Eugene for a baseball tournament and drove by this coffee cart/shop. I stopped by yesterday and ordered a chocolate and coffee with espresso.. after we paid I realized that it likely didn't have milk in it so I just figured I'd 'just drink it.' When I tell you this is the best I've ever had... I LOVE coffee and I've had it all over and this shop has some of the best I've had. I went back today and got the chocolate latte and man.. once again... so good! I see some reviews talk about how long it takes to get your order.. if I wanted quick mediocre coffee you could go to Starbucks.. I'd wait 20 min for this latte. I don't even remember how the coffee was due to what the staff said and how much it upset me. It's been 3 months so this isn't an emotionally charged review. I've thought a lot about this and I believe they deserve some feedback. This is a dark one folks! I told them it was my dog's last day alive (put to sleep due to low quality of life from cancer). I wanted to make it the best it could be and had ordered a pup cup. Instead, the older woman frowned dramatically and said "Well that's not what I would do. He looks fine." I explained how underweight he was and how he hadn't been himself for months. After they got my drink the guy with the pony tail leaned out and said I should take my dog to Greenhill so they could get him the expensive surgery I mentioned (that had only a 30% chance of extending his life mayyybbbeee a few horrible months). As if I wasn't doing enough or wasn't wealthy enough to deserve to make this decision! Thanks. Not only did these people make me cry MORE on one of the worst days of my life, but their coffee is meh. The service appeared intentionally delayed. Landscaping is perfect while there are no customers (open 7 days a week). PR seems to be dwindling (i.e., unnecessary watering of not just pristine gardening, but of roadways creates traffic issues). A new gas station indicates there will be more business for this quaint coffee shop, yet staff appears hostile of construction and potential customer flow--usually dusty roads are understandably frustrating yet temporary. Seems to be all window-dressing. Chances are low if you want a good experience. read more

How is this place even in business? When we first moved in this neighborhood I was so excited to have a coffee shop right next to me. The coffee is disgusting! I have had several bad experiences here but today was beyond belief. This is a family business and lately the mother has taken over. At first my experience with her was positive. However today when I pulled up and placed my order the son told me he couldn't talk to me without angering his mom. Then as he went back to make my order I heard her start screaming at him. She didn't care at all that I was there. I continued to wait for my order while they had a argument. Mostly her yelling. I ended up rolling my window up to wait in peace. Suddenly she comes to the window and tells me they wont give me my food and that I should leave. I said "I can't have my soup?" and that's when she started screaming at me. She told me I was not being sypmathetic to their situation. Which I am completely unaware of. Then she threw my money at me and told me never to return. I feel like she took her crap out on me because I overheard her yelling at her son. So by then she just didn't care. This is not the first negative or even crazy experience I have had here but this was certainly the last straw. They never have anyone in line or seem to be doing any business so I do believe the shop is a front for their marijuana business that they run up in blue river. I am considering alerting the IRS. Absolutely will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

My first experience at Romano's. I had the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. Everything is freshly and individually cooked not frozen in a wrapper and microwaved for 4 minutes. It was phenomenal as it was seasoned too. I also had their "locally famous" coffee milkshake. Again. . .phenomenal! I definitely recommend you give them a try. Great food, great drink, great service. The decor outside is beautiful too and inside is clean and tidy. read more

True story: I'm almost 59 and I'd never had coffee until a few weeks ago. When I was a kid, I got hives after my high chair was placed a couple of feet from my parents' coffee maker. The doctor said I was allergic to the oil in coffee. For that reason, I've avoided the drink my entire life. That being said, I've always wondered if I could drink espresso, since the oil is squeezed out of the coffee beans. However, I didn't try it because of the risk I'd end up in urgent care, or worse. 3 weeks ago, I finally took a chance while I was waiting in The Ark's parking lot for an elderly relative and his dog. The menu at Romano's, including all the syrups, was just too enticing. Espresso, where have you been all my life? I had a cappuccino with a shot of lavender syrup. It was fantastic. Since that time, I've tried the cappuccino at other local coffee places. From my experience, I can say Romano's is the best. If you're not a coffee drinker, I can also recommend the London Fog: Earl Grey, steamed milk, lavender and vanilla. Awesome! I live too far away to get to Romano's every day. Since I love this place, I've made it my Friday morning ritual to drive over before work. Service is a little slow, so if you're in a hurry, Romano's probably isn't the right place for you. This is the best kept Expresso Bar in town. It also has the best iced blended Mochas around. I have gotten other iced blended mochas from other places around town and Romano's are the best. Came here at 7:15 in the morning to get coffees for my co-workers, there wasn't a line, so I thought it wouldn't take long for this order to be completed. Wrong. I ordered 4 Vanilla Lattes. The wait was LONG, and somewhat agonizing to wait when I was on my way to work. The man at work was very focused on making the drinks right, which I do appreciate. What I should have accounted for is the extra charge for syrups - which was way too much in my opinion. I ended up paying almost 20 dollars for 12 oz. coffees. The quality was fair, and the location is convenient for me because I only live a block away. My girlfriend's family lives out here in Eugene and Romano's is a must for every visit. The coffee is well made and all of the food is delicious with generous vegan and non-vegan options. Both recent trips here we've had weird experiences. The first time, the week after the Oregon Country Fair, the guy working there just stared awkwardly and touched the machinery. His behavior was so off my *8 year old child asked he he was on drugs* We ordered a decaf americano, but what we got could barely be classified as coffee. Thinking that must have been an odd fluke I went back for a large black iced coffee. There was 1 car ahead of me who, as best as I could tell, ordered 2 drinks. I was stuck behind them for 30 minutes. Ridiculous. I asked for 2 shots of espresso over ice so I could put my protein shake in it. Easy enough right? Wrong! I got some watered down espresso that tasted like there was sugar in it when I asked for no sugar. The person that works the counter is very slow to make your order and has no customer service skills. He was talking about how I was in a rush and that's why my drink looked that way. I didn't indicate that I was in a rush other than the fact that I waited 15 minutes behind ONE car! You'll get a better coffee Dari Mart. I just wish there was a Starbucks my side of town. read more

This coffee stand is close by my job so I go there pretty often during the work week and now I'm so addicted that I sometimes go very far out of my way on the weekend to have it. Also, the food is really really good. Highly recommend the egg and cheese croissant. I can't stand going to drive through coffee places like Dutch bros because I can't deal with the obnoxious in your face baristas... The coffee guy that is there often has been nice to me every time I've been there. He doesn't make a ton of small talk which I actually really appreciate (Hey I'm a New Yorker, what can I say) Some of these reviewers should be ashamed of themselves... I regret that I was a dick about the guy working last time - he seems nice enough, just not customer service oriented at all. He's also kinda slow - it would have been faster to drive somewhere else and back than he spent making two iced quad mochas. But when he warned me that there coffee is rather strong & not to drink both of them myself, he actually showed some personality, so now I feel bad for implying he's some kind of murderer (which he still could be I guess). Wow I'm kind of horrified, and shocked by the reviews I read below. Last weekend was my first trip to this shop and I came back the next day for a pick me up before heading back to Portland. Next time I'm in Eugene for another family function I'll plan to return. The barista was incredibly nice and friendly, albeit sort of a quiet person. He was very engaging as he made me a really delicious drink. We talked about the fact that they have vegan hot dogs available, among their food selection. (Pastries, sandwiches, etc.) My best friend is vegan, so I'm always looking for places around town that have something she can enjoy. Anyway, I ordered a granola bar wedge along with my iced white mocha on my first visit. I liked the big chunks of walnuts in the granola bar. No idea if they make this in house or if it's from a local company or what. The next day when I returned for a caffeine blast to send me up i5, I chatted with the same guy as the day before and he made me another yummy iced white mocha. (Yay for consistency!) Come to find out he's one of the owners, and he and his brother have had the place for 15 years. I thought that was pretty cool.
