Growers Market is a very unique shopping experience that feels like a Co-operative from the day, but only better. It is not a place to hurry, but linger and meet fellow neighbors on line. It is all vegetarian and amazing selection of organics/local produce and bulk. If you are local than the only caveat is the limited hours and days as of this review: Thursday 2:30pm - 7:30pm Friday 10am - 6:30pm Tuesday 5:30pm - 7:30pm From their website: The Market is run entirely by volunteers with a consensus-based democratic process. The Board of Directors of the Growers Market (which includes representatives of both the food buying club and the upstairs tenants) meets once a month, and these meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend.

We wanted something simple for dinner and they had lots of prepared foods to try. We got some of their mushroom soup and citrus chicken, which was very tasty. Husband was impressed with their alcohol selection. It was clear what was on sale. Service was good. Keep in mind utensils are at the front. They have fun bags too!

Parking is a little janky if you're not used to the area, but this grocery store is otherwise a hidden gem! It might be run of the mill for locals; I'm not sure if this is a large chain that's all over the place or if it's less common, but the produce, meat, and cheese departments blew me away. I just want to rave a bit about this particular section of the store - most everything else was similar to what your expect. I've never seen such a large selection of items in a grocery store deli before... it was honestly slightly overwhelming to pick just a few items to try. There are individually wrapped chunks of tons of different types of cheeses, dried meats and prepackaged ones, accoutrements like breadsticks, olives, mini jelly and jam jars, and more. It was amazing. The bakery case was a whole other story... I have the biggest sweet tooth and can't get enough of baked goods, and their displays were absolutely gorgeous. I unfortunately didn't purchase anything from this section, but I can only imagine it's delicious lol. Checking out was easy as it usually is when grocery shopping and the lady that helped me out was friendly, so I really had absolutely nothing to complain about during my extremely brief visit to this super cool store.

The Chinese food at this Safeway is extraordinary! I just had another 5.99 entree with teriyaki noodles. The produce is good but not as good as MOC. The prices are very good especially if you install the app and take advantage of $5 Friday. I definitely have enjoyed their bbq on special holidays and Duck home games. The staff have worked in this location for a good long while. They are kind. I appreciate the SBux workers there too!

But other than that, it's a Safeway like most other Safeways--with the exception of the parking lot. It's terrible. If you enter from 18th, your inclination is to turn right at the first opportunity once you're in the lot but that's actually going the wrong way. It's so weird to me to find just about any parking lot with diagonal parking any longer since that's less efficient parking, but I guess maybe this lot is too old (a grocery has been here for over 60 years) and thus too small to have better parking. It's just annoying getting in and out, and it's tight to drive around, so it's not my favorite. But they have order pick up and that makes it worth a trip.
