I love visiting markets. I have not been in a WinCo before and this location is very spacious with high ceilings. They have huge selections and large bulk good aisles, seemingly endless freezer aisle, and a well stock meat and bakery section. Donut samples were handed out during my visit. Caroline is truly the best manager! I felt that she went out of her way to make sure that a mistake I made was corrected. I forgot to pick up a Turkey after spending well over the $100 minimum for a turkey in Thanksgiving preparation. When I went back to the store, she took the time to make sure that I got my turkey and rang me up in a timely manner. There are employees who work and employees who take ownership and pride in their job. There should be more customer service people like Caroline She is a true asset to Winco and all that work with her. read more

Sure Winco has some of the best prices. No argument. However, the low prices come with a price - your time! It is the norm to do shopping and then get to check-out lines that are exceeding long. The most valuable commodity I have in my life is my time. I have a fairly high patience level, but I will not stand in line for the privilege of giving Winco my money! I will vote with my feet and wallet in the future even if I have to spend a few dollars more. The long lines are not a one off occurrence. I'm a big fan of WinCo and this location is no exception. The layout is very similar to the one on Chad but the parking lot is much less chaotic. The people who work here are so friendly and will help you find something if needed. The bulk bins are well-stocked and the floor around them gets cleaned throughout the day. I always go here for my bulk ingredients since it's so cheap. Everything is so cheap here in general, I love WinCo so much for that. The store is clean and has ample parking. The bathrooms are also clean. WinCo in general doesn't accept credit cards which people always seem to forget, but they're also employee-owned so you know your money is going to the right people. I will always shop at WinCo, and as long as I live in the area this will be my go-to one. read more

This store gives me anxiety. It has a lot of people just hanging in the parking lot if you go to late or to early and the employees are not very friendly except a few ladies at self check out and there are two that work the register. The manager is very kind and she assisted me when I had a question about a item. The prices are amazing but it gets rather crazy on certain days so I try not to go to after the first week of the month. If you want to save money and don't mind big crowds this is the store for you. Only thing they don't take credit cards and you have to bag your own groceries which could also trigger you if you never practiced timing yourself bagging your own groceries in under 5 minutes. read more

You're not coming to WinCo for a softly lit, perfectly organized shopping experience. You're coming here for the deals! I mostly shop here for dry goods, produce (which you do need to inspect a bit more closely than some other stores), and their AMAZING bulk section which is huge! Helloooooo, fresh ground cashew butter!! :) This location also stocks a larger-than-most selection of Mexican and Asians foods/products. But, not everything here is cheaper, particularly I have noticed that with dairy items. You bag your own groceries and can only pay with cash options (bills, checks or debit). I've also heard to avoid shopping at the start of the month, which is payday for lots of people and it can be a little crazy. WinCo is open 24 hours so plenty of other times to go and avoid the crowds. read more

I love this store. I don't check in nearly as often as I come here. We live close but this WinCo is really clean and maintained. Seems there is always someone in the produce section. They are really helpful and always stocking. The pre bagged salads don't last forever but they're cheaper here... I love the deli here too... You can call in and see when the chicken will be fresh...I love this feature. Good selection of deli meats. 8 piece chicken box is $6.88!! Good selection of special cheese. Awesome bulk section... Get your k-cups here..Way cheaper and you can choose a mixture of types... Soda section is large too with specials regularly.. I've shopped here for many year, I am getting disgusted with the quality, freshness, and pricing. I shopped there last night, celery in bags were rotten, at least half, cucumbers were rotten, they looked ok on the shelf but the ends were moldy, my finger could go through it. Last week the meat lasted only a day was slimy and didn't taste right, several months ago my family fell ill to eating the meat after 2 days, unopened. The grapefruit was old in the bag. It's winco. They're great. I love their fried chicken strips. Even out of the cold case and reheated at home in the oven. Their vegetables and meat aren't as good as Whole Foods or market of choice. Okay, let me start by saying I am at high risk for complications if I were to get COVID-19. I judge a store normally on cleanliness, price and customer service, but during a pandemic I've added the criteria of adherence to mask use laws. Recently, since I shop regularly at Winco I've noticed a shift in standards and not in a positive way. Everything from the carts and floors to the parking lot has become strewn with garbage. My cart, this morning, had several old pieces of paper that I needed to pick out and throw away before I could use it. So cleanliness is not being kept up, one criteria down. I go at 6:30 am to avoid crowds since I am high risk but the downside of that is that the vendors are there, often blocking isles but more importantly, recently I've seen people working who refuse to wear a mask over their face. It's often worn more as a neck warmer. Each time I say something to the person to remind them about the law and about the rising cases of Covid-19. Never once has the person actually put the mask actually back on and over the nose. This has happened several times. So, health and safety criteria absent. Finally this morning I had had enough. I asked the second person I saw without a mask on to put his mask on. The response was "Mind your own business!" He then preceded to use a box cutter that had held between his teeth a moment earlier on the packaging and continued handling bottles of flavored waters. I said that my health was my business and asked his name. And with his box cutter in hand said much louder and more menacing "Mind Your Own Business!" I then turned back to the registers and asked to speak with a manager. At first I was told there wasn't a manager on duty but I said either I speak with the manager or I call OSHA, it was at this point that the manager appeared. When I tried to explain my reservations she said she would handle it but failed to ask who had actually gone without a mask. I felt as though nothing would happen because the more details I spoke the less she listened and rather than sharing compassion for high risk people she just said "well I'm high risk..." as if that makes it okay. I will not go there again. They failed on cleanliness, health and safety and they failed on customer service. The prices aren't worth the mounting levels of risk! read more

Updating this review because I swear every time I buy ground beef here, it goes bad before the sell by date. It's a huge hassle to return, and it happens pretty much all the time. I know the meat isn't the highest quality, but I'm almost convinced that they are packing new fresh "pretty" meat over the top of rancid meat and selling it as fresh. *update- just spoke with Ryan, the store manager, who was very interested in the feedback regarding the ground beef quality, and finding out how they could improve. I feel confident that he is addressing this issue. He was also interested in getting details regarding the customer service interactions and stated they have empowered floor associates to resolve issues recently to help improve service. I'm still leery of the ground beef, especially since he said the sell by date is two days past when it's ground in house- to make sure what's on the shelf is fresh. But, I appreciated the time and concern he showed towards making sure the situation was resolved. read more

Pros: ~Prices ~Bulk foods ~People watching: it's your own personal people of winco. ~A few local goodies (surata soyfoods, Nancy's yogurt and Toby's tofu pate) Cons: ~Little to no organic foods ~Produce is hit or miss ~Their bakery items are lame ~Meats are sketchy ~Tweakers in abundance ~They never seem to have enough checkers ~It's difficult to bring your own containers for bulk items, the checkers don't seem to know how to subtract the weight off of your bulk stuff. ~The aisles can be a cluster f*ck of either shopping carts or merchandise and stockers. read more

You can listen to the amusing groans and whines of poor little Ron R., who seems to have some sort of a personal beef towards Winco, as if his jilted ex-boyfriend works there, You can listen to his fantasy about mystical grocery stores and the pretentious love of paying premium prices to be catered to -or- you go and and see for yourself that for Eugene, Winco is as good as it gets for solid produce at low to reasonable prices. They are normally busy, but unlike other discount stores (Stall-Mart) they don't have 25 rows of cashier lines yet only man 2 of them. They will actively add more cashiers when things get jammed up and manage to keep the store clean and organized despite all of the activity. Added bonus, things that are on sale are prominently displayed, almost always easy to see at a glance, with color coded arrows and prices listed in plain view. Help is usually very easy to find. always ready and willing to render assistance. What a shock, right? They will actually check out back for a particular item that ran out on the shelf. Other stores usually say 'if it's not on the shelf, we're out' with indifference. Not at Winco.. Even their stockers are helpful and knowledgeable team members. Recently, at a Freddy's, which is "OK" (and which some Organians follow like some kind of cult) I asked the stock girl where to find Mothballs. She didn't even know what they were and didn't even bother to find out, either. Winco's Deli is better than most other grocery store delis; solid quality with reasonable to excellent prices on most items there, and throughout the store. I've purchased some excellent steaks and their produce has also been of very good quality too, Also, unlike many area businesses, if you contact them online, management replies promptly, ready to address the concern immediately and professionally. Nobody is perfect, but Winco in Eugene is as good as you get for this town, Think of what Target if to Wally world and yet still had the prices Wally World is supposed to have. read more

I just can not express how much I despise this place. Unfortunately it is right down the street from my house so for sheer convenience I have subjected myself to the madness that is the Barger Winco for over 3 years. However now other superior grocers are offering online ordering and parking lot pickup locally, and with far superior quality of items, I will only have to go to this Winco for the odd forgotten item while making dinner. I will note that the quality of items used to be better 3 years ago, but they have been in a consistent downward spiral. A real shame because the staff is so nice and professional and the company is generally very responsive to guest needs. I find that produce here is of the lowest quality possible. Many times I have brought an onion home and cut into it to find it is rotten. Avocados that are florescent green and as such will NEVER ripen correctly. Oranges that are like sawdust inside, flavorless apples, etc. Meat is the biggest offender. Cuts made here are often sloppily done and not to standard specifications. Almost any meat purchased here is unfit to cook in just 2 or 3 days even though the sell-by date is much farther out, a common complaint in reviews here. Not a foodies paradise. Definitely not a place for sourcing quality items to make upper end cuisine, that's for sure. Everyone moans about the great prices. They are ok. Honestly if you use deals and coupons at other stores and just plan ahead a bit the savings is not that great. And on fresh items you get what you pay for, so there is that. This image of being the low price leader attracts the exact type of customer you would suspect. Hordes of mouth-breathing, 9 errant-kid-having, isle blocking, display blocking zombies. A true goat-rodeo! It has gotten so bad when I shop here I just move peoples carts for them. The amount of carelessness and selfishness seen among the patrons of this store is maddening. I loved the Winco near my old place, but this one is a mess. I've bought bread here three times only to find it already molding under the packaging. Their bulk items have bugs - I ended up with pantry moths and I had to throw away everything in my kitchen that I couldn't bleach. Try a different Winco even if you have to drive further. read more

All the stars in this review are for the pizza place, Leonardi's. It is seriously such good pizza, and it's not expensive at all. Having recently walked out of WinCo with 6 bags of groceries totaling under $60, I can say that I'm a convert. This titan megastore (which is, interestingly enough, not a corporate giant- it's actually employee owned, which means that money made/spent cycles back into the local economy) exchanges a no-frills, no credit card policy... for rock bottom prices. Like, totally rock bottom, best-deal-ever, "How did I not find this place earlier?" prices. The store on Barger feels a lot like the similarly spartan Food4Less, but with a marvelously hippie'd Oregonion twist. From grains to seeds to granolas to spices... the bulk foods section will make your head spin and you eyes water (with joy). One thing that's for sure is that I'll never pay $26/lb for cinnamon sticks again. Not only can you get spices for pennies and peanut butter from hand cranks, there are also choice dried fruits (cherries, cranberries, strawberries) and fresh bulk honey. WinCo supplies every wonderful thing including, but not limited to organic tofu, fresh cow tongue, gourmet cheese, marinated olives, Takara sake, freshly boiled bagels and Greek yogurt. The selection here is so outrageously ginormous that it's sure to please everyone. On top of that, I hear employee health benefits are amazing, wages are competitive, and did I mention that I walked out of WinCo with 6 large bags of groceries for less than $60? If you are the kind of shopper who prefers an upscale supermarket, and is willing to pay the premium markup that goes with it, you will not be happy with this place (as you can see from some of the negative reviews here). However! If you like bargains and don't need them presented to you in glitzy surroundings, you'll love this store. You'll also love the huge selection, including the bulk bins selection. The produce section is also large and impressive - you do need to inspect the produce with a sharp eye as some of the bargain priced produce has a little less "shelf time" left. Me, I'm on a tight budget so I'm fine with that. This and its sibling-store in Springfield are indeed the cheapest full-sized supermarkets in the area, so they do get busy when workin' folks have the time and cashflow to stock up. Winco offers the best prices, a very complete bulk foods area, and its Winco Branded selections are of exceptional quality. I can't really think of a thing about Winco that I don't like. A new Winco (with an Oregon Bottle Drop) is being built near my home in Eugene, Oregon, so I will soon add convenience to my list of reasons why I prefer Winco. This is specifically a review of the pizzas they make on site. Pizza from here is way better than one would expect! I'm seriously blown away. We got a custom-made "take and bake" pie with the creamy sauce, extra cheese, chicken, bacon, & green peppers. On the way out I was disappointed that the cheese didn't look very "extra" & the bacon was in big lumps instead of all distributed, but I'm kind of OCD about these kinds of things so I decided to wait and see how it was once cooked. IT WAS AWESOME. They only have one size and one style of crust, and don't expect fancy toppings like artichoke hearts or caramelized apricots. The bacon ended up being deeply satisfying, and really any more might have risked being too much. Overall, this was a better pizza than I've had anywhere else - delivery or frozen - in months! I'd recommend adding your own "extra" shredded cheese at home after it comes out of the oven, but for the price this was a really flavorful and really filling pizza. As a poor college student, I shop at Winco to save money. But in reality, they actually have a pretty large selection. They have bins upon bins with pretty much anything you want in them: candy, pasta, cooking ingredients, kool-aid mix, abandoned babies, cereal, dog food. You can pretty much get anything here. I walk out with my cart completely filled with food and drink top and bottom for around $100 every time. CONS: -Most of the raw steaks are just not that good, I will stick to Costo for my BBQ items. I generally do not trust the raw meat products. -No Heineken Kegs -You have to pay for grocery bags. Yeah...Winco is definitely a pain in the ass. I also hate to admit it, but I will shop here for the necessities. Produce can be hit and miss. I've seen the apples and bananas and other fruits look like complete hell....and on the other hand, theirs a few times where it has actually been really good....unfortunately only a few times really stand out in my mind. Their meat selection is average...and i recommend paying attention to the color of the meat when you purchase it. Out of about 10 packs of pre packaged carne asada, 3 were bright red and fresh looking...the other 7 had the darker redish brown look to them. I would avoid their whole pre-cooked chickens....BLUH!! Not good....at all. One thing I noticed about this place is that the prices fluctuate like kirstie alley's ass. One example....For my diet, I use Fat Free cheese from Kraft. One bag is usually $1.78 Other days the same damn bag will cost 3.25 It pisses me off really...not that i'm trying to be cheap, but what the hell? I just dont get it... I'm dreading having to go there after this damn review.... Avoid this place around 5pm on the weeknights if at all possible....hell...avoid it if you can period. read more

Compared to the Winco in Milwaukie, OR this location is fantastic. The prices are super low compared to Safeway, Albertsons, Fred Meyer or the like. There are downsides to all Wincos (if you want to shop with the elite of society you will need to pay for it!) but this is the trade off for the cheap prices. read more

I am giving them 2 stars because of the service I received today at their the bottle drop. I've noticed that they usually have issues with their bottle drop with their machines breaking down frequently and by frequently, I mean almost every day. When I went to take my bottles to get my change, the machines were acting up which occurs daily from what I've seen, then when an employee came to fix it and I was able to start putting my bottles in, it was rejecting my cans and I asked if she could hand count it, she just gave me an attitude and was yelling at to go bitch to customer service instead. When I got help, they fixed it and still refused to do the hand count because we have to put the bottles in before they can hand count it. I found it funny how they really enforce that rule but they don't enforce the 200 bottles per day. If you're going to enforce one rule, ENFORCE ALL OF THEM. I will say I was furious about the whole situation, especially having to jump through so many hoops just to return some freaking containers. WinCo, I really hope you're reading this because when it comes to this, your people have absolutely no clue as to what they're doing. So if you're needing to recycle your cans, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! because they don't know what the f**k they're doing when it comes to that. read more
