I came here twice and both times, Dark Pine Coffee did not disappoint me! My usual order at any coffee place is a latte and that is what I ordered both times at this place. I like the taste of their coffee. It has a nice, smooth taste. The baristas here are super awesome. They greet you right away and they absolutely know their way behind the counter. I am in awe with the way they move with confidence and poise while making every cup. They know their regulars too. They know what their regulars like. There was a lady who showed up behind me and within a few minutes, the female barista up front let the lady behind me know that they are already working on her drink. I thought to myself, wow! Came to this cozy coffee shop in downtown Eugene. Dark Pine is a good place to sip on something hot when it's cool out. It has summer drinks too. Has pretty okay prices for being local. There's also a few pastries. A pretty chill place with more room than it looks. It's one of those order at the counter places. There's a good amount of tables. An odd thing is the decor. This looks unfinished, with temporary curtains and walls. It's about $5 for a latte. They have a few non dairy milks. Also there's a few pastries and doughnuts. It's $3 for the Vegan Pop Tartlette. I tend to come to Dark Pine 2-3 times a week to study, the energy all around nature of this shop is extremely mellow and relaxing, making a perfect place to study or work. No idea if they are any good. Stood there about a minute, was invisible while workers had social conversation , then another couple minutes while socializing with regulars, no menu, no clear board of options, empty pastry shelves, also lights not turned on, it was 8:30am and dark out. Maybe 6 people in the whole place. At about 4 minutes in, a worker miraculously sees me. Acts as though I just walked in, was very friendly. Coffee was one of the worst I've ever had and I frequent different coffee shops often. The shots were so burnt, I could not drink it and I got an iced white chocolate/ caramel mocha which could help cover the taste of a burnt shot but it was so bad that I could not. probably my favorite coffee place i've been to in Eugene. beautiful dark cozy vibe in here. dark wood tables, comfy leather couches, orange overhead lighting, and the walls are all painted black. on top of the modern cozy decor, the music choice is impeccable. A beautiful blend of soft and lively old school jazz that didn't feel very "coffee shop" but rather something my tasteful grandpa would play. now to the matcha. the barista reccomend i get maple cold foam with my matcha so of course i did. this was my first cold foam experience and i was delighted. it was really just wonderful. if you like matcha i recommend you get this. i will soooo be back. this place is great. read more

I love this place. This is my favorite downtown Eugene coffee shop. The vibe here is very pleasant. There's lots of plugins if you bring your laptop or whatever. Usually the music's pretty good and no one bothers you. The only thing that might make it better is if they had some outdoor space for tables on those rare sunny days. This is a very cozy spot, beautifully decorated and warm! I don't know if it was another bad day for the baristas but they seemed uninterested and angry? My coffee tasted really burnt along with my date's and any questions or small talk made to the two workers behind the counter was met with annoyed one worded answers. I was very impressed with this place! Very cozy atmosphere - and a very comfy couch. Haha I felt very comfortable here plus the coffee was very delicious. I got a Cinnamon Dulce Latte. I'm not sure if it's all the time but this morning they had pastries from Sweet Life Pattiserie which is a great place. I got a dairy free, gluten free and egg free Poptartlet and it was so so yummy. This was an eye-opening experience for me. I'm not a heavy consumer of coffee. Dark Pine changed that. I greatly dislike Starbucks because of their predatory marketing practices and that a Starbucks exec once told me that they would never their waste money buying Grade 1 coffee because Americans dilute their coffees with so many 'adulterants' that it wouldn't pay for them to do it. Dark Pine felt good upon entering. It has large windows, a high ceiling, plenty of room between tables, and clean bathrooms, Now the human aspect... the barista was warm and welcoming. I'm usually uncomfortable in new places and feel rushed when confronting a new menu. Happily, this did not happen here. She was patient, not the phony kind which can be easily sensed. When a fellow employee started speaking with her she stopped him to pay attention to me. Wow. Personally, I've never believed in ordering a coffee that has anywhere from 3 to 9 names in it's description. So an Americano with cream was my choice. The coffee totally made my day. I've never had coffee this good in my 70+ years, here or in any country I've visited. My second Americano was much larger than my first, I made damn sure of that. They also featured a little chalk board menu that had the most unique food items that I've seen. Sadly I already had breakfast under my belt. I live 35 miles away from Eugene, so I can't patronize the shop very often. But it will be a priority stop on every trip I make to Eugene. I've even sent out several emails this morning to friends in Eugene asking to meet me at Dark Pine for a visit with the selfish motive of having a reason to come back. The coffee had a strong hearty flavor and the sandwich, while not much to it; was toasted to perfection. They had a variety of reading material to schmooze.
