I haven't been a college student in over 10 years, but walking into this local coffee shop reminded me of the youthfulness of university. Students doing assignments, talking about their life goals and plans. It was refreshing to see their drive. On those occasions when I am fortunate enough to be in the EUG, then Vero is a must. Full stop. It's not just the coffee, it's not just the vibe, it's not just the fab location...it's the whole package. Vero has taken that corner lot, in what is probably a turn-of-the-century house, and has created a phenomenal kaffehaus. It is built to enjoy some of the beautiful Oregon weather, and even withstand some of the rainy Eugene weather. The inside is generally sprinkled with students, seeking quiet moments of academic focus or other pursuits, and the outside is conversational and comfortable. Oh, and the coffee. I'm always one to try the house brew, and Vero is always ready with a freshly brewed cup. Their latte skills are pretty solid, and their espresso is strong and finishes nicely. I find the real hook to be that their coffee is far better than corporate Seattle, and costs significantly less. Sure, you pay a pretty hefty price for some of their breakfast or lunch fare (think $15/sammich), but their coffee is way competitive and their service is outstanding. I'm there for the coffee in the atmosphere; anything else is a pure bonus, and that includes the outstanding patio. Parking is on the street, because you're close to downtown, so you're on your own. But pretty much half of the patrons are either walking or riding a bike, so it's easy to handle. Pricing for the drinks is very fair, if not advantageous, and the value far outstrips what you pay, anyway. To me, Vero is as good as it gets for Eugene coffee, and there is no shortage of competition. Get out and enjoy! read more

Super cute brunch spot!! Style is you order at the counter and then listen for your name. There's a ton of outdoor seating (and a few indoor tables) making it perfect for a summer brunch. Best of all, the outdoor tables are well shaded and nice! We ordered iced chais, French toast, and a sandwich. The sandwich was great and the French toast was adorable! Nestled inside a house that had been renovated for this coffee shop, Vero Espresso offers a selection of drinks and food. While I was not able to try any of the drinks, the turkey basil panini was a delicious lunch treat. This panini was stuffed with various goodies and toasted perfectly. I've been wanting to try this place for ages and finally made my way over to do a little work on my laptop and have a drink. Walking up, there's a ton of outdoor seating available. Inside, it feels like you're in the parlor of someone's house. There's a good handful of tables in the main room, with an additional few tables and a long bar in the hallway behind it. Apparently they have meeting rooms upstairs for rent by the hour as well. It was definitely busy but I was able to grab a small table close to an outlet within a few minutes of waiting for my drink. I ordered a dirty chai latte with oat milk and it was very rich and delicious! They do have some food available as well but not much for a vegan. I think maybe a salad. I would love to see a more unique vegan offering here, that would definitely make it a more regular spot for me. I did stayed for a good while though and got some work done. It was nice! read more

It's in an old house that is super cozy on the inside and has awesome outdoor seating on the porch as well as picnic tables outside. I love Vero house. They are one of my favs. One of the coziest and 'homey' feeling cafes in town. It is a converted house afterall. Over the years, I have learned that on a sunny Eugene day is the best time to visit Vero. If you stop by on a rainy day, the indoor sitting can be pretty limiting. However, they have that great patio area so there are way more sitting on warmer days. They also have one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches in Eugene. read more

My only complaint about Vero is that the service is a little slow. But don't let this stop you. Its because they are SO good that everyone wants to go. Rightfully so. Tried Vero for the first time today, was disappointing. The coffees were weak and flavorless, the ham and egg sandwich was mostly cold and the egg had no flavor. It could have been so much more flavorful with a little salt and pepper plus grilled to heat. The bagels in the bagel sandwiches were nice but again the egg and fillings were just bland. Perhaps the waffles or baked goods draw the crowd here but we didn't try these. I rarely give poor reviews but there are quite a few other delicious breakfast places in town to choose from, and Vero could improve even if just the coffee! read more

The owner was so rude today. My daughter came in with 5 high school girls touring the university. They had Starbucks drinks with them, but all bought food. Once seated the owner walked out an screamed at them for bringing in their outside drinks. She told them they were disrespectful and had no common sense. She asked if my daughter went to UO and then asked what she studied. She then told me daughter she must not be very smart since she brought in outside drinks. My daughter and the girls put their drinks in the car and came back to eat their meal. She came back out and continued to yell at them in front of other customers. My daughter got up, told her she was sorry and that she would leave. She continued yelling at the younger girls and then ended up leaving. Worst experience ever in Eugene. read more

My daughter recommended Vero Espresso and had us try it while we were in town moving her in for college. We ended up going here two days in a row because it was so good. The lines can be hit or miss as we had one day with a long line and the other with a very short line. This place is super popular with the locals. The first day we had a half order of the French Toast special with bacon (see picture in review) and my vegan daughter had an everything bagel with a side of avocado. I had the Kahlua & Cream mocha with oat milk, my daughter had a raspberry mocha with oat milk and my wife had the Dirty Chai, also with oat milk. I tried the Chai and it was delish! The French Toast with bacon special was very good and you get a lot of food for the half order. Our second day we only had espressos and tea and a cookie for the 4 year old child that was with us. They gave the child a milk for free and when he spilled it later on at our table, the came by quickly and replaced it and said they had a "no crying" policy. Pretty nice move of them to do this. Lots of room for improvement! Quality has been declining at Vero. Tried it again today and I got avocado toast with a side of eggs -- toast was barely toasted and with the avocado on top, made the bread soft and mushy. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, bouncy and browned. The sliced tomatoes were the consistency of apples.
