I stopped here with my friend after she sang their praises all weekend. There was only one other car in the parking lot and one customer inside so we were able to order immediately. We got three banana fritters, a Boston crème, a plain cake, a glazed raised, a German chocolate, a raspberry chocolate, and a double chocolate cake. They were all amazing! This place really does know their donuts. They aren't oily or greasy at all. The lady who helped us worked quickly and was friendly. The store was about what you'd expect from a mom and pop hole in the wall - it wasn't super clean but it was fine since we were taking our donuts home anyway. They're open 24/7 but are located in a really shifty and unsafe area so I wouldn't recommend going at night. It felt fine going in the early afternoon though. All in all this was a great experience. There are few pleasures simpler, or more universally cherished, than stepping into a donut shop at dawn. At 6 AM, the world is quiet, the streets are hushed, and one hopes--perhaps naïvely--that a warm pastry might offer a moment of comfort before the day's demands begin. Alas, my visit to Day Night Donuts proved instead a meditation on disappointment. The apple fritter, that noble staple of American morning indulgence, was presented to me not as a freshly glazed, still-steaming companion, but as a cold, listless relic. Not chilled by morning air, mind you--refrigerator cold. A confection that should have greeted me with warmth and softness instead yielded the disheartening bite of a pastry that felt, if not abandoned, then at least neglected. One is forced to wonder: Was this yesterday's fritter? The day before? The mystery lingers longer than the flavor. As for the "sandwich"--a Jimmy Dean croissant, unmistakably the frozen variety from Costco, accompanied by equally familiar pre-cooked Costco bacon--it delivered all the culinary excitement of an office break-room microwave. The croissant was serviceable in the way mass-produced goods often are: efficient, characterless, and unmistakably prefab. The bacon, however, was the true antagonist of the meal--rubbery, resistant, and determined to fight every bite. A duel between teeth and pork fat at sunrise is not an experience I recommend. It must be said: there is nothing inherently wrong with using Costco products. But one hopes--expects--desires--a donut shop to rise above the bare minimum. A place that opens at 6 AM should greet its patrons with warmth, both literal and figurative. Fresh pastries. Crisp bacon. Some sign of intention. Instead, my visit felt like intruding upon a place not yet awake, not yet ready, and perhaps not entirely concerned. read more

Donuts are always stale, day and night. Been here 3 times and different times of the day, the donuts are consistently dry, lack in glaze, some seem like the glaze has soaked into the donut which means it's been sitting for quite some time. Horrible Customer Service! My husband works nights, and he recently started the habit of Saturday mornings picking up donuts about 730am bringing them home for us. We've gotten Donuts from here a few other times and just absolutely have not been impressed. I mentioned that the donuts seemed to be stale once to the lady when I went in there, and she told me it's because I am probably getting them at the later part of the morning 10-11am. So now that my husband's been picking them up at 7-7:30am so there should be no reason why they're not fresh. 2 weekends ago I mentioned to my husband how they were not fresh. Well, he decided to try it again this weekend, and once again, the donuts were stale and dry. I was very upset with my husband spending another $18 a dozen on crusty Donuts. Because he was still sleeping and I had errands to run, I wrote a note on the box. "Do not buy these Donuts again. I just threw 2 of them away because they are stale. " When my husband got up I was still out running errands and he saw my note and knew I was not happy. He called The Donut Shop and asked for the manager. He was first told the manager was not there the lady proceeded to talk to him and he was telling her he's not happy with the donuts that they are stale. She was not offering a solution, so he offered one and asked for his money back she flat out told him, I'm not giving your money back and HUNG UP ON HIM! So he went down there in person, and my husband is not a hot head. As soon as he walked in work a box of donuts in hand the lady bolted to the back and a gentleman came out my husband explained to him the donuts were stale he was not happy with him and that maybe he shouldn't have asked for his money back but he definitely think it's fair that they exchange the donuts. The lady came back out and questioning once again what was wrong with them while other customers stood around. Come to find out, the lady was the manager and finally did agree to exchange the donuts. It's become a problem for me... I've been branching out from my neighborhood donut shop (Cals), and kinda feel guilty. While Cal's pumps out some of the best traditional doughnuts in town, this place doubles down on the old fashion, plus some brazen modern flairs. My problem in lies, I've been eating entirely to many doughnuts (not great for my summer body). I mean this place has selection of doughnuts comparable to some of the big names (Dunkin, or Krispy). My tastebuds are always satisfied when ever I bite into one of these masterpieces, whether it be an old fashion cake, or a more modern lemon pie. I haven't a bad doughnut from this place. I've also only had positive interactions with the people working the counter, they've also been personable and nice to me. If you find yourself on Highway 99 and you have an aching for a sweet treat, this is your place. read more

Yummy!! Love this place a lot! It has a cute vibe inside to sit down, and a bench outside if you want a little privacy or to enjoy the weather. The dough is a little more bready than most donuts, and that's what I love about their donuts! There are a lot of different types, like a lot. It can be overwhelming but I would much rather have a ton of choices than not. It is open 24 hours which is amazing, most of the other donut places in town are not open super late. These donuts were good. They were simple and always and everything you would expect to have in a donut. The shop has a very large variety of donuts to pick from. I got a mix dozen and had two of the donuts and that they're both delicious. The other benefit about this shop is it has a drive-thru which is nice in the days of covid19. I LOVE DAYNIGHT DOUGHNUTS!!!! The sweet woman working could not have been more kind and helpful! I went for my first time tonight around 10pm and to my surprise the shelves were still stocked full of fresh delicious doughnuts. They have quite the variety as well. We asked if the doughnuts were from the morning and she said no, they are made fresh in batches throughout the day. They also have really good biscuits and gravy. This is a solid business. They won't stun you with unimaginable variety or bizarre combinations of flavors, but if you're craving donuts in Eugene, Oregon you won't find a better place to get them. They're friendly, but not *too* friendly--if you want to chat they are very pleasant; if you want solitude they're fine with that. OK, so first of all, this review may just in the slightest be kind of biased, but that shouldn't stop you from reading it. You want to know why? Because I'm going to rave about it anyways because you know what it's a damn good donut shop and even though I don't really order the donuts, their coffee is amazing. So anyways, let me bore you with an anecdonte: When I was younger, on Saturday and Sunday (mainly Saturday mornings) I would always get to wake up late, and by late I mean like ten A.M. or even if I could sneak away with it, eleven A.M. But when I would wake up, I would always be woken up to the smell of coffee and toast wafting up to my bedroom. So after that, I would quickly pull on a sweatshirt and run downstairs as fast as my little legs would take me and when I would reach the dinning room, there would be my mother with a pot of fresh coffee and my father standing at the island talking to her or enjoying his first cup of coffee. Once I would say my "Good Morning's" he would then turn to me and ask me to go get the Saturday Morning Post. I would then fight with him, (joking of course) about making my sister go get it, but I would go get it eventually anyways. When I would get back I would have toast of my own and maybe a cup of Ovaltine or a cup of milk on the table waiting for me. And when I got older, a cup of coffee would even be waiting for me. Now when I was older and finally did get to drink coffee, I realized something that my mother's coffee and something in it that was just so special that I couldn't really identify. And scene. So why did I tell you this story? Well here's the reason: I love Hwy 99 Donut's coffee. And you want to know why I love it? Because it tastes JUST like my Mom's did when I was younger. When I walk into Hwy 99 Donut's it kind of makes me feel as though I've just stepped into a place I would love to be at and drink coffee all day. The reason why I go there is for the coffee because I can't get enough of it. Their large coffee is $1.25 and it tastes amazing. Of course everyone has their bias about coffee and they could actually hate their coffee. I've even got the comment from somebody that their coffee was too watery, but every experience that I've been there and ordered a large coffee, the coffee was perfect. They do the cream and sugar for you and that's what makes it even better. This place has come to be my escape and if I go there with a friend (which I did last night) I always spend an hour interacting with the staff (which are in the back baking fresh batches of donuts every single time I come in) and talking with my friend. The atmosphere is definitely "diner-esque" but it's far from a diner. It's somewhere where you should just enjoy being and not think ab out the next thing that you have to do. If you go in there enough times, the staff begins to know your routine and knows exactly what you order which is awesome. Three times just yesterday, I watched three patrons come in and the person who was working at the counter already have their order ready. I love that feeling of the close atmosphere and some could say that I'm a sucker for it. Their donuts are awesome as well. They're always cooked fresh and if any of them ever go stale they always have a fresh batch waiting in the back. Although to be honest, I don't go for the donuts, I go for their coffee. For one, yes it is true that this donut shop uses the classic Dunkin' Donuts recipes, from before Dunkin stopped making their donuts in-house every day. Even the fabled namesake Dunkin' Donut (called the Dunker Donut, edit 12/2/16) is still available. Very friendly service, excellent donuts, and the self-serve frozen yogurt is good. Drive-thru is unique to any other donut place in Eugene (don't think Master Donut in Springfield has their drive-thru anymore), and definitely feels like a throwback to the 70s or 80s, before Starbucks and Dutch Bros ruled the roost here. read more
