I love coming in this store. Easy parking, easy to walk in & out.. I love the women's clothing section. It's always organized, clean, and it's easy to find what your looking for. The main reason why I'm writing this review is for Carly in the shoe section. I fractured my ankle, and I was on crutches for a while. I was looking for a pair of shoes that would help my foot feel stable & comfortable during the healing process. Carly helped find the best pair of shoes for me! She was so helpful & so patient with me as I was really struggling to find the right shoe. Thank you, Carly! The staff at this location are really nice & helpful. Something strange about this place. The employees either act like they're too good to help you or they have a chip on their shoulder. Also, the mens' dressing room is an odd situation. My GF and I came in today to pick up an online order. Waited a few mins to be helped. All cashiers were occupied because they had a long line. We saw a manager (didn't catch his name but he was very helpful) come and he saw us and immediately asked us if we needed help. We told him why we came in and he got our order right away. He asked my GF for ID and I am glad that they do that so no one else is picking up other people's stuff. It was an easy peasy lemon squeezy process! read more

Does anyone even work here? This store is ridiculously understaffed. The 2 people I found working the floor were unhelpful and unconcerned. On top of that, cleats that were on the display racks were not in stock (this after waiting 10 minutes for anyone to even show up). No sleds in the middle of snow season. Maybe 10 left handed softball gloves at the beginning of softball season, and no one particularly concerned about looking for any with me. This was your third chance, Dicks. Went to buy a pair of sneakers and waited for salesperson for assistance. Pick out a pair of Nike and ASICS she check her phone and said she did not have my size on the latter and brought me the Nike drop them off and took off. They fit but it was a struggle to fit through the opening and had pick out a different pair while she went to get my size and wanted to try them out since I did not like the fit of the Nike and she was nowhere to be found what a waste of my time. Wow! First off I love this place. Super helpful and good product... My son is a Boy Scout...Dick's has been so generous to participate in the Scout Camp Card program with a $10 coupon on a $50 purchase... here's my issue... they won't allow the scouts to sell these cards anywhere near the storefront... they told us we had to get permission from corporate marketing each time we wanted to sell... that's a tall task for a 13 year old to do... from my perspective it felt like they didn't want the coupon used. We thanked the staff member and went to Smart N Final... where another coupon on the card is...my son went in and asked the manager who said of course! Happy to support the Scouts! I was very disappointed with my recent online and store experience. Thursday I ordered Basketballs online and when I did not receive a follow up email notifying me that they were ready for pickup, I called the store and was told they did not receive my order. I called customer service and they could not tell me why the order was cancelled. I submitted a new order and did receive an email notice that my order was ready. When I arrived at the store only 2 balls were available, out of my order of 4 balls. This was a waste of time, since I had to travel past 3 - Big 5 sporting goods to get to Dick's. Never ever order large equipment to be delivered to your home. Ordered a treadmill two weeks ago and was said to be delivered a week ago never happened. Found out they use a third party delivery company here in southern California which is horrible have called that company and dicks several times and just keep getting run around. Today was finally going to be day of delivery and i felt my nightmare was going to be over and nope third party even confirmed delivery and no one ever showed up. Called company apparently it was not even really scheduled for delivery. This Dick's Sporting Goods is massive. I was warmly greeted by a staff member who pointed me to the section where I looked for an elastic band and a resistance band. I wasn't able to locate these items and I searched the entire store looking for assistance. I finally got someone who walked me to the area. Oddly enough, it seems like Dick's has improved somewhat over time. It or the company that used to be in the area that Dick's bought out was like a Big 5 that had more space and didn't know what to do with it. Knowing Dick's from upstate New York, I do have a fond place for it in my heart, but that doesn't always translate into a good experience (a la most of my experiences at Sport Chalet). Yes, being a SGV person, Sport Chalet should always be my initial impulse for sporting needs, but this is just so much easier to get to than traveling to La Canada. The staff was extremely nice and fairly knowledgeable. The store is laid out clearly. And while my gear stuff for any major outdoor activity would be purchased at REI, this is a really useful local alternative to Sport Chalet and significantly better than Big 5 in my book. read more

I've been here twice and both with my boyfriend for snowboarding gear. I came here earlier today with my boyfriend to mold his snowboarding boots to his feet, where Chick's provides this service for free! The guy working the snowboarding department was friendly and conversed with my boyfriend about Mt. High and Mammoth while we were waiting for the boots to heat up. They were chatting it up, while I sat on the side and waited. Hmm. Learned about this new board that costs $1,000 because it supposedly feels like a feather when riding on it. Once again this place was extremely disappointing. Not only does their customer service suck, but the place is a mess. When I shared my feedback with the manager about how difficult it was to shop their Dodger hat selection due to it being unorganized, all he did was make excuses about them being understaffed( what I witnessed was the few employees that were working standing around talking). The manager checked inventory on the hat size I wanted and their system showed they owned 4 units. He then went searching for them and still came up empty handed.... Unbelievable. Hi, Dicks Sporting Good Management/Supervisors: My name is Les Brandt, I drove from Hollywood, CA to your Pasadena location to an instore pick up from my online purchase...I called prior to leaving and spoke with Sarah and Lawrence to ensure my purchase was THERE and will be ready to pick up....I got a confirmation from Sarah and my onnline purchase said "SUCCESSFULLY CHARGED" to my account....so I set out to Pasadena...during traffic...I get there to only be told by your Store Manager Eddie McAfee that the store DID NOT RECEIVE an online invoice for my purchase...after figuring out that the problem was on MY END...and that I had made errrors in the online transaction with my credit card address etc...Eddie remained SUPER CALM and VERY PROFESSIONAL while I was in some what disbelief on my journey out to Pasadena etc... Eddie McAfee in my opinion is one FASTASTIC HUMAN BEING...and I was in awe of how his personality and professionalism while he helped me figure out the problems that could have possibly happened...ON MY END... Its is simple that I tell you...I would continue to drive to and from your Pasadena Dicks location while this man runs your store there...I really enjoy doing business with KIND and RESPECTFUL people and companies that employ them... To be honest I just about never get anything from Dick's... It seems like their prices are always higher than their competitors and their selection is never on par. For example I went in looking for a stomp pad for my new snowboard. They had 1 type at $15.00 I saw the same one for like $8 at Big 5. I also found a large selection of stomps at Sport Chalet all cheaper than this one solo pad at Dicks... I was also disappointed with their hat selection as I was looking at getting someone a new sports hat for Christmas... So overall I am not a fan... *shrugs* read more

Went there for my son's football gear. The adult and youth sizes are all intermingled. I got there 30 mins after opening. The racks are so pushed together you can't browse effectively. No personnel in the 3 departments that are crammed together. Went to the counter and cashier asked if I found everything OK. When I said no, all they asked was if they could order it online. No other help offered. I complained online. A week later I received a call from the store. The lady said she was calling because I asked for a call. She tried justifying the no help due to counter back up. I called BS and told her there were no lines. She couldn't have cared less. Today January 11, 2022, at about 9am, I went into Dick's Sporting good. Will, first of all, I get no hello, walked thru the store for over 30 minutes, and several employees passed by and not one said hello, good morning, can I help you. Now, I get to the checkout line, and this heavy set employee playing on his phone, had time to say hello to a white female entering the store. Now, I still haven't gotten a hello or acknowledge while in line. Soon after this employee waves me to the register, and never once said hello, or good morning, but asked do we have your phone number in our system. We as Blacks get so mad when folks act like we don't matter or deserve the same service. But, when we act out many racist folks have something to say. I walk in, it's a sporting goods store for women to go shopping in and despite the new name, I along with most men, I imagine are disappointed that we got suckered into walking into this store thinking they've got a large selection of I don't know....sporting goods, like tennis balls, basketballs, raquets, etc. Not really enough sporting goods, wasn't impressed , I feel like it's missing something. I needed a ski/board rack for my car before my Mammoth trip. The first guy I encountered at REI in Arcadia was clueless and wasn't aware that with my factory roof rack, I didn't need additional gear like he suggested. I returned after going home to check the website and the second guy I encountered knew his stuff, but they didn't have the Yakima Fatcat 6 in stock The Fatcat 6 at Sport's Chalet in the Arcadia mall was opened and missing the instructions manual and screws I had gone to Chick's the night before to get my board waxed for $15 and the customer service was great. When I asked where the tuning department was, the representative offered to walk me to the section. Though I did have to wait sometime to pick up my board because they didn't have it done in the time promised. But they made up for the initial experience because they not only had the Fatcat 6 in stock, but mounted on my car for free. The guys here work on commission and they'll help you put together a skateboard or snowboard at no added cost. read more

For the first time, I placed an order online and went to the store to pick up. When I arrived, there was no customer service designated area for online orders. All the cashiers were helping others so I had to wait a while to be helped. Once my order was scanned in by Anthony, there was just so much confusion. He didn't know how where the item was, went to a cashier, and then disappeared for a long time before coming back. He never acknowledged or thank me. There was no basic customer service. After he gave me the bag, I opened it to make sure my order was correct because at this point, I don't really trust this situation. Of course, he gave me a damaged hydroflask. When I asked him, he said he would check for inventory and then disappeared behind the cashier stations. I went to ask him again and then he said there was no more and it was the last one. When I asked if I could then exchange it for a different color, he said yes, but you have to get in line so they can do the exchange. The line was a zig zag and I didn't have time for that. My purpose of an online order is to pick it up quickly. I asked him where the hydroflasks were located in the store and he said he would take me there. Right away, he totally disappeared again! Frustrated at this point, I just went to the section myself and there were at least 5 more hydroflask of the same color. I did the exchange myself. My bad experience was further confirmed with another. When I went to the cashier to purchase socks, the cashier would not even make eye contact with me. I gave him the socks for purchase, I stood in front of him, and I gave him my scorecard coupon, but yet he did not acknowledge me. Instead, he looked at my husband and asked him what is your phone number. I told him what phone number did you need? Again, he looked at my husband for the number. My husband gave him his number but of course it wouldn't pull up my account because it was under my phone. I told him off and his answer was the radio is too loud. Wow, I can't believe I experienced this right in front of me. The disrespect made me feel like it was 1920's again. I can see why theres 3 stars on yelp for this store. In a time when Amazon is taking over retail businesses, I can't believe stores would hire people like this to represent their store. I will never waste another $1 on this store ever again. read more

Pleasantly surprised by my first-ever visit to a Chicks! I proceeded directly to the snowboarding department and dropped my board off for a wax ($15). While there, I took the opportunity to check out their snow hardgoods selection. It was huge! They had a big sale on all helmets & goggles and it seemed like most of the rest of the dept was on sale too (tons of orange-tagged snowboards.) I snagged a new ProTec helmet for just $48! Only a fair selection of bindings & boots though. I only saw about 6-8 of each on the floor. And barely any women's stuff though I did see women's Burton Mint boots for $129.97 on clearance, too bad none in my size. The people working here are super friendly and helpful. The store itself is huge, offering everything from skateboards & skate helmets, to bathing suits, to roof racks, snow pants/jackets/beanies, and a HUGE selection of traditional team sports clothing & accessories. It was definitely a one-stop shop for all things sport. And the prices (almost everything I looked at, at least in the snow sports section was on sale) were great. Highly recommended. read more
