The system to purchase shoes is a test of patience. After scanning the the shoe to see if it's available a d available in the desired size and shown that it is, it took 20 minutes for a salesperson to look for the shoe then tell me it's not available. There were just 3 other customers they were looking for shoes at the same time with 3 salespeople. Incompetent employees. it took 30 minutes and no shoes. FAIL! read more

So when does a Chick turn into a Dick??? The answer: May 17th! That's when Chick's Sporting Goods converted to Dick's Sporting Goods. I'm sad to see Chick's go because I've been shopping at Chick's since they had one small store in downtown Covina. Dick's seems to have more sporting goods equipment and less clothes. I'm a tennis player and Dick's selection of racquets and tennis clothes is about half of what Chick's used to stock, so in those terms, Dick's isn't as good. I didn't see my favorite brand of tennis clothes, Adidas. Currently, Dick's is having a sale on Wilson tennis balls at $0.99 per 3-ball can, so that's a good deal. Overall, Dick's seems to be like most large sporting goods chains. The store is newly renovated, so a bit nicer than most other large chains. Pricing seems to be standard retail prices and they offer sales that will discount the goods. Dick's also has a frequent buyer card, so if you buy a lot of items there, then it may be wise to register. Ciao! read more

There was an angry lady with red hair at the exchange / refund desk that had too much attitude today. I just wanted to exchange some shoes my partner bought me for my birthday a few weeks ago and I had the receipt. I was okay with them not having the next size up so she suggested a refund, but the barcode wasn't scanning. That's perfectly fine; l will come back with my guy and the card he used. She kept cutting me off and speaking to me like I was a child when I was asking questions. And then she told me, "I need you to just step over here," and put my boxes to the side. I wasn't done asking questions lol. I tried to tell her at the beginning it was a gift and she didn't listen. It didn't feel very good. She was immediately aggressive and was so short with me. I've never been here before but I definitely will be avoiding her when I go back for my refund. All the smirking and smart talk just isn't necessary, they're shoes, take it easy girl. I had plans to look around in the meantime to pick out some new shoes, but after that interaction I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. read more

I will never order anything online from DICK'S! They're super slow with the processing and their online customer service is satisfactory. I should have just ordered straight from Patagonia or REI where I know the service will be stellar. Came to this location to buy girls softball gear and boys baseball gear. The store is very clean and well stocked. The customer service we received by Alfonso in the baseball section was A++++++++!! He was so helpful and polite. He took time to help us find the right bats for each kid. He helped us in the batting cage and we left feeling great about our purchases. I'm writing this review because so we could go my son and my wife bought a Easton baseball bat which cost us roughly $350, it's an expensive bat to say the least but we wanted to get the best for our son the week after we purchased it it cracked and we went to the store to have it returned, when we got to the counter a young man named byon was extremely rude to us when we simply asked to return it he could have been a lot nicer about it but he kept insisting that we should have bought the 2-year warranty when they had told us at the store that we had 3 months in store warranty, luckily for us a girl named Shelby arenas who was the manager there heard us and was reasonable and very polite with us she helped us make the exchange I really want to emphasize how much she went on her way to help us , because of Shelby arenas we're going to keep going back to Dick's Sporting Goods, she made us feel welcome and helped us out with her issue right away, we're very lucky to have found her there and Dick's Sporting Goods should feel very lucky to have her working there read more

It's definitely strange... This store has all the right moving parts: lots of square footage, a clear floor plan, helpful staff, good selection, a reasonable return policy, and plenty of parking. But for some reason, I can't get overly excited about this place past much more than three stars worth of joy. Maybe, it is the shopping conditions under which might come here. Generally speaking, I don't shop here - - meaning, I don't go into the store browsing for items upon which to spend my disposable income. Dicks is a store at which I go BUYING-- when my kid needs cleats for Little League, when I need new workout compression shorts, when my wife is in the market for UGGs around Christmas... In each case, I generally research before I drive, and make sure that the item is not only in store, but being offered for a reasonable price. And that's kind of where the wind of colorful ranking stars ends: The store ain't cheap, and when every Little League current needs to get their son and athletic supporter and cup, well... They run out pretty quickly. On my last visit Mary, I went on a weekday at 10 AM, and found the store empty and well stocked. I happen to be in the same shopping complex the following Saturday around one, and walking through the store to kill time, realize that all of the merchandise that had been there previously was now gone. on one hand, I suppose that means you're getting new inventory, as the store seems to turn it pretty quickly. on the other hand, if you didn't get it, you're not going to... And if you did, you pay the premium. So all in all, life costs money, and I get that. But when, for example, I need a simple Dodgers hat, Jack's probably doesn't have the one you want... And the ones they do have are about 15 bucks more than you would want to spend in the first place. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews, but I was taken aback by the bad customer service at Dicks. We were looking for last minute snow gear and look I get that it's late in the season going in early March (mind you I could still find some stuff at REI and Big 5 and snow season is lasting longer this year) but when we asked someone if they had anything in store, the employee sarcastically said to my husband, "at this time of the season and with your height?!" We weren't expecting there to be much in the store but we figured there might be at least some scraps of sale stuff left. But that response was both unnecessary and unhelpful. He could have just said he was sorry and they didn't have anything and perhaps recommend somewhere else to look. Unfortunately it's not the first time I've had bad service there or I would have passed it off as a bad day and not said anything. It's often hard to find employees to help you and they frequently have limited stock (in season or not). With so many good, or at least better, sporting stores in Pasadena and nearby cities, save yourself the time and go to one of those or just shop Dicks online. read more

The store has nice merchandising, an excellent layout, reasonable prices, and a good selection. Unfortunately, they run this operation lean so getting help or follow up is not there. I read the reviews about how busy they are so I planned an early visit during the weekday to purchase a bicycle. Other than the front cashier, there was no one around to show me the bike, I had to call for help and eventually someone showed up. The person that helped me did not appear too knowledgeable about the bike but I did my homework before going to the store so it was not a problem. Then they told me the bike technician would not come in until the next day for assembly and I would be given a call as soon it was done, they even had me fill out a contact form. That call never came so I called them 5 days later to follow up. They confirmed the bike was ready. The staff there is professional and courteous when you deal with them but was not the greatest customer service experience for me. The store is nice: 4 stars. The service is poor: 2 stars. I'm not sure why brick and mortar stores are in trouble but I have a great guess. Wife needed a new pair of trail shoes. Went to big 5 earlier then got something to eat. She says let's try Dicks. We get there at 6:35 I know this because upon entering the store a girl just inside the door says we close in 25 minutes. So far I'm super happy about being here as the first interaction is "get out we are closing". We hurry to the area in the back of the store where the shoes are. I find the trail shoes and I tell the wife we will buy the ones she likes and if they work great if not I'll bring them back later since they are closing. It was relatively busy in the shoe area. We asked the girl if she could check if they had a size 8. She checks and says no they do not have a size 8. No offer to check another store or order them or anything. I'm sure just like the girl in the front they just want to kick everyone out and go home. The wife was somewhat disappointed so I got on my phone. Find the exact shoe it was only $7 more on Amazon so I ordered them while walking out of the store it will arrive in 2 days. So I guess lesson learned. Don't waste time going to brick and mortar stores. And when the powers to be in charge of Dicks wonder why they are going out of business all they have to do is try and shop at their own stores. read more

I've been meaning to stop in for a while to check out the store that Allissa highly recommended. We needed 2 soccer balls in a hurry. (soccer practice at 5:30) Allissa had previously shared the ball protection plan which totally made sense because we go through balls like crazy. Went in later in the day and to my surprise the store was super clean, organized, and well stocked. The best part was not the sale prices or the cleats that were 70% off but was the SERVICE from all levels. The cashier's smile & fantastic personality brought us back to buy the cleats. We ran in and out for soccer balls...but the SERVICE brought us back for more. The manager helped us out the second time. Great service and atmosphere always starts from the top. Great location for the store with lots of parking. However, the only positive experience I had was in the shoe department. Unfortunately, I forgot the gentleman that helped us look for my sons soccer shoe. If you are reading this review; you know who you were. You were very patience & caring towards my son and I really do appreciate that. Aside from that, there was a line of people and only one cashier was open with no sense of urgency. When we came upon the cashier, she wasn't too friendly & lacked customer service. Maybe they were short staffed? I'm not too sure. I love coming in this store. Easy parking, easy to walk in & out.. I love the women's clothing section. It's always organized, clean, and it's easy to find what your looking for. The main reason why I'm writing this review is for Carly in the shoe section. I fractured my ankle, and I was on crutches for a while. I was looking for a pair of shoes that would help my foot feel stable & comfortable during the healing process. Carly helped find the best pair of shoes for me! I seem to prefer Sports Authority but they had the color combo (blue orange)I was looking for in the Manduka eKO lite yoga mat and the same price as Amazon which I tend to check prices for everything against. I called to confirm this location had it (as I had seen it online) and they kindly held it overnight for me. I've been in here a time or two and nothing else has ever really jumped out at me, but I wouldn't rule checking them out if you are looking for something specific as their prices seem comparable to other stores and products. read more

I've only been to 2 Dick's Sporting Goods and each one is well stocked and clean. The selection look incredibly. They really do a great job at presenting their brand. The only reason, this Dick's got 3 stars. Staffing. Maybe this store doesn't get much foot traffic. But I hit that "Need Help" button and it took a good 6+ minutes to get someone. And I also asked them for any Keen brand shoes in a size 8 or 8.5 and they said, "Sorry. We're all out" There are at least 8 different styles of Keen brand shoes in-store and you're telling me all 8 styles are SOLD OUT in a size 8 and 8.5? WTF! My GF and I came in today to pick up an online order. Waited a few mins to be helped. All cashiers were occupied because they had a long line. We saw a manager (didn't catch his name but he was very helpful) come and he saw us and immediately asked us if we needed help. We told him why we came in and he got our order right away. Does anyone even work here? This store is ridiculously understaffed. The 2 people I found working the floor were unhelpful and unconcerned. On top of that, cleats that were on the display racks were not in stock (this after waiting 10 minutes for anyone to even show up). No sleds in the middle of snow season.
