This Orvis location is on the corner, two doors down from CAVA. Sadly this store location is closing and will be here through Christmas Eve (until 4 pm). Currently they are having a up to 60% off items on sale now and they are also selling their store furnishing too. I have visited this location numerous of times over the years and have always appreciated that Orvis is dog friendly and have good quality items. On my recent visit (this past Saturday), my husband and I, along with our little girl dog, were greeted by several employees and asked if our little girl would like a dog treat (unfortunately because of her sensitive stomach, we had to declined but I appreciate the gesture). We ended up purchasing a few items for our dog at 50% off, which was nice. But didn't see any clothing that I was interested in, or my husband. It is too bad that this location is closing. There really aren't that many Orvis retail stores but plenty of authorized sellers of this company. If you want to stop and shop one more time, please make sure you do before this location closes up for good. read more

The Pasadena Orvis store embodies all of that plus more. My family has taken the free classes and purchased our fly rods and gear from this location. The nicest people work here! My dog didn't love his gorgeous orthopedic bed (against his better judgment). He prefers the sofa! I lugged his XL bed into the store, sans receipt. I really love their products and didn't think that I would ever return it. Susan, the manager, Raymond, Zach and Ted were very helpful and served with a warm smile. Took a couple of free Saturday fly fishing workshops held at the store. The value of these offered by Jacob and Travis could have easily justified a triple digit workshop price, and their great attitude helped get our small groups of around ten enthused about a new sport. In their first 101 class, after an hour of casting practice in the parking lot, I could hit a frisbee size target at thirty feet; all with no prior experience with a fly rod. Lots of good safety and ecology tips for good fishing karma were woven into the presentations. Being a retired teacher, I appreciated the "tell me, show me, make me do it methodology". There was no pressure to purchase anything, but workshop coupons made it hard to resist picking up a souvenir. The store is well stocked and organized and only one of two company stores in California. Corporate should definitely use this store as the "best practices" model for the fleet and open some more company stores, especially in the OC/San Diego area. The other Orvis dealers like BassPro don't have the stock or expertise of a company store. Jacob put together a staff, all of whom were friendly and helpful, for those looking for tackle or something in their extensive clothes collections. The J and T show made my two hour drive up from the O.C. worth the trip, and talked about local fishing in the basin and also the Sierra. As a plus, they are very dog friendly and stock a number of dog products. I'm looking forward to my first fly fishing trip in Mammoth with my adult son--catch and release of course! read more

Tad went far beyond the "call of duty" to help me as a customer. I highly recommend him/the Pasadena store. The corporate website indicated that a rod/reel combo kit was out of stock. Pasadena was also out of stock. Tad tried to get another store to send him their combo kit, but they refused. Evidently, this combo kit was in high customer demand. Tad then decided to create the combo kit by ordering the rod from another store, shipping the rod to Pasadena, putting together a reel w/ backing, fly line, leader, and changed the side for retrieve. He did not have the rod/reel case that came with the kit and so offered me an upgraded case. Finally, he shipped everything to me overnight so that I would have it for my scheduled trip. read more

I bought in 2019 through a job and then left that job AND HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN GETTING OFF THEIR MAILING LIST EVER SINCE! I ordered a dog collar online, personalized and reflective. It arrived with sloppy embroidery, with a reflective stripe too narrow to be easily visible under the dogs fluffy hair, and larger than the online specs. I was authorized for a return because of my dissatisfaction but the return did not include the $8 shipping or the $7.50 coupon I used. It is SO OVERPRICED for what it is I am in disbelief. I thought Orvis was quality. It is not! I thought $40 plus all the add-ons, would get me durability and craftsmanship. Cheap Chinese is what I got. Will never buy another thing from them! read more

I purchased my very expensive Orvis Dog Bed between 8 & 10 years ago. I went online to see if I could purchase a new cover since my little Golden has been trying to dig a hole to China and it finally couldn't take the abuse anymore. Only the cover was damaged thanks to the quality. I was unable to find my model or cover for purchase so I called customer service. They were able to locate my original order (amazing) and proceeding to set up a replacement order for me. When I asked for the cost, they replied, there is none. We take care of our customers. I was shocked. So impressed with this level of customer service and support. It is a rare and noble thing when a company does something this generous and extraordinary. Orvis online is dated and not competitive. The clothes sizing for men are extremely inconsistent. For example if you buy a shirt online and you like the way it fits, and then but another shirt not exactly the same it may be to small or too big? I understand that clothes are all different, but Orivs makes you pay to ship it back to them? WTF? Why should your inconsistent sizing cost me money? On top of that. when they get the item back it can take up to two weeks for Orivs to credit your account? What a joke! Yes you can can take the clothes back at no cost to one of their stores if there is one close to you. What a hassle. Unfortunately for Orvis I will not be shopping or recommending Orivis. read more

Great store and great service. My husband and I came in and immediately were asked if we needed help, we didn't so we were left alone. When we did ask for help, Tad was very helpful. I needed waders so he was super knowledgeable and helpful with sizing and getting me set up. Wasn't pushy in any way, was fun to work with and didn't hesitate to look for what I needed. We evenutally left fly fishing Disneyland with what we needed. Waders, wading boots and a wading jacket. An expensive trip, but it pays to buy great quality product. read more

Been a customer of their dog stuff for a while. Ordered a $300 dog bed a few weeks ago, to be embroidered with my dog's name. You are supposed to put the letters in all caps on the order, which I did. The embroidery came with first letter capital, second letter lower case, third letter capital, fourth letter lower case. WTF? I spent a half hour on the phone with them, making it clear that they had to come pick up the bed because I wasn't about to spend an hour going to the post office in LA. We agreed they would send me a replacement cover, and I would move the stuffing to the replacement cover and then they'd have FedEx pick up the wrong cover. A week later, I get the replacement cover. Yes, you guessed it ... the same exact error repeated. This time, the customer service girl made specific notes on the order to do it the screwed up way!!! After I spent a half hour on the phone with her, she actually wrote on the order notes, "Capital __, lower case __, capital __, lower case __". Now on the phone AGAIN. Are you kidding me? read more

Super friendly staff and excellent customer service! Tad helped us out when we stopped by for flies. He took his time giving us advice on local spots and general tips for fly fishing even though it was close to closing time. As a female in a male-dominated pastime, one other thing that really stood out to me was that he also included me in the conversation instead of just speaking with my husband, which unfortunately tends to happen more often than not. Let me start the review by admitting that if this review was for the Pasadena store specifically, I would have given it at least two stars! However, I'm reviewing my whole experience with the "brand" which wasn't that good! A little over two years ago, I went with my brother to the NY store and purchased few jackets and sweaters. I bought the Orvis Dorset Quilted jacket which I totally loved and another wool jacket with elbow patches. Fast forward to few months later, my family and I relocated to the west coast. I kept both jackets as they were light enough for SoCal's winter evenings. The elbow patches on the wool jacket were ripped in no time despite getting rarely worn. Not a big deal, since it was an easy fix by my tailor. The Dorset jacket in the other hand was my favorite weekend winter jacket. It was the perfect fit and lightweight enough. Unfortunately one of the clasps/snap buttons came off and that was the beginning of the nightmare! I contacted the online support who couldn't locate the item in their catalog as the model was discontinued. However, through every email exchange it seemed that their priority was the receipt or proof of purchase rather than supporting their products and customers! Obviously I didn't keep a receipt for two years especially moving across country! Again, all I wanted was a replacement snap button to give my tailor so he can fix it! After a couple of days of back and forth emails, they finally recommended that I should take it to my local LA branch in Pasadena to exchange it. I did; mind you that's an hour and a half drive, but I did and went through the entire proof of purchase again! What I thought would be a five minutes process lasted close to an hour so that they can find the Dorset in their inventory or find me in their database! It was a nightmare, but a good "meditation" time for me I guess! Finally since the jacket was discontinued, I ended up exchanging it for their new Barbour Thurland Quilted jacket as it is similar look. They charged me an extra hundred and thirty something dollars difference which I gladly paid to leave and never return! One more time, all I wanted was a replacement button, but why give me a button if they can rip me off! I waited a couple of weeks for the new jacket to arrive in the mail. The Thurland jacket is nice, but heavier for my needs and way too long. I'm 5'9", but I have a broad upper body so unfortunately I must wear a "Large" which is definitely designed for 6'2" or taller. It's in my closet for now, but I don't think I'll have any use for it here in sunny SoCal. Maybe if I travel elsewhere during the winter I'll get to wear it! Again I don't love it, it's not the Dorset! The entire experience was just a disappointment. All I needed was a clasp/snap button to repair a jacket that I loved, but I ended up paying a hefty difference for a jacket that I don't like or need and lots of wasted time! Save your money, time and future frustration and shop elsewhere; this isn't worth it. read more

First experience with Orvis. I'm not from the area and was looking to try on Barbour jackets, and they said they had a very good selection to try on with different sizes. The service was great and I was able to find the perfect fit. He spent time as I tried on a few sweaters to make sure good for the colder weather and I never felt rushed. They also have a wonderful store guarantee policy so I'm sold. I will definitely make the drive to this store in the future. And for Barbour fans, they service them through the store so you only pay the Barbour fees for re-waxing, alterations, etc., and not the cost to send it and return it. read more

Only 5 stars?!?! Why not 7, 10, 25??? After my visit to the Orvis Pasadena store, I'm an Orvis customer for life. I was down in So. Cal. for a trip with some friends. I fished a small stream up near Running Springs, and unfortunately, I ended up breaking the tip off my fly rod! :( I was up the creek, cuz we were planning on hitting some primo waters on the road trip back to WA state. My rod was an Orvis rod, and Orvis has the best customer service---they'll replace just about anything if its damaged. You just mail it in and they'll send you a new rod. Timing was of the essence here. I wanted to see if they could help me out and hook me up there at the store. Jacob (the employee who was helping me and my party) made "the call" to see what we could do. After a few minutes, Jacob came back--we were back in business! I got them my hobbled rod, and they gave me a shiny and blue new rod!! We were ready to fly fish! Jacob passed on some of his wisdom for how to fish Hot Creek, and the flies we needed; I then bought some flies, and we were on our way. ORVIS IS THE BEST. read more

Orvis fly fishing products have improved a lot in the decade IMHO and this shop has a gaggle of fly fishers that are rabid for fly fishing and their enthusiasm can be contagious. If you are in the area and this is your local shop, give them a try. Now the shop itself is more like a place where you can browse the catalog in person but it is the staff that makes it a good place to be especially tailoring the fly selection for the local waters (most 3+ hours away). I went to Orvis because I was told that they re-proof Barbour jackets for $35. When I went to the store they told me that the new price was $50. I left the store and called Orvis customer service who told me that the re-proofing fee should still be $35. They did note that it was at the discretion of the store manager and that it is considered a "specialty" service. They actually advised me to send the jacket directly to Barbour and not even use Orvis's service. Overall, I wish Orvis was more upfront with the pricing and the advertisement of this "specialty" service. On a positive note, the employees at the store are really nice. Their shipping policy is THE WORST. I purchased several items (3 different shipments) and was charged an exorbitant amount. Then, I had to return ALL items because the fit was terrible. (The small t-shirt I ordered was ridiculously large and another one was way too small.) I understood there would be the $6.95 return fee, but they did not refund me the original shipping. So, they charged me two times for shipping--a total of $51.10. I think this company needs to rethink their policy. When they send clothing that is inadequate, the purchaser should not be penalized in such a severe manner. And twice. read more

They have a great selection of rods, flys etc. The staff is VERY helpful and knowledgeable. You really can't find a good fishing store in Los Angeles and I've searched. Orvis Pasadena is our home away from home for us and our Golden Retriever, Gracie. The manager Susan is the BEST! We love her and the entire staff. Gracie is treated SO well and loves their delicious dog treats. And we love the clothes! We have a photo of Gracie waiting at the front door after the store was closed.
