Hmmm... I had a friend drop off my my Mac Powerbook for me so they could take a look. First off, they didn't bother to fill out a form for him or give him some sort of reciept as evidence he dropped it off, though he had all my info to give, all the guy (who had a British accent) said was to have me call him. Well, after diagnosing that I needed to replace the logic board, he said he would call me back for pricing for repairs. Due to the fact I was going through finals, I ended up purchasing a new G4.. I kept in touch with him just to make sure that he knows that I was going to pick it up.. Low and behold, I finally get a chance to go and he no longer worked there! And somehow my laptop dissapeared with him. I spoke to a manager who pretty much accused me of wrongdoing! "Well without a reciept, how de we know YOU didn't pick it up?" well you know what?! If Di-No was run properly, they would have notes saying it was picked up and who picked it up.. But that's just me.. I'm no expert in customer service but if I had a customer like me, I would have told them that I would call them back and try to contact the person who had initially helped me even if they were no longer employed there! My G3 was 4 months old and was purchased from someone who did tech support for apple so it was packed with software andwhich contained lots of my school projects.. Yet, they couldn't take 2 minutes to make a phone call to help me out? Or even somewhat apologetic? Great customer service, seriously! While my computer was fixed (with no data recovery), I cannot reflect on my experience with Di-No Computers positively. It seemed like my concerns were more laughable than taken seriously, and when I asked why it had been two weeks without any contact regarding picking up my computer - I was made to feel guilty that I did not receive the "very long" voicemail and missed calls left. My phone number was correctly listed, however the only time we were in contact was when I had to call inquiring about my computer. I checked again and again, I had no missed calls or voicemails from anyone at Di-No. Each time I brought an issue up, it was thrown back at me that they had the right phone number, they were doing everything, they had called me, they were giving discounts, everything THEY were doing was okay, I shouldn't be upset. It was not a priority to actually talk to me and have me come in and pick up the computer. Then after the discount, Mylan made a comment about how I shouldn't "cuss him out" on the phone (which I never did, I was professional but stern about my issues) or he'll come to my house because he has my address. I told him that was incredibly inappropriate and not a joking matter, and he continued to handle the situation very half-attentively. Not telling me the exact price he was charging me but asking me for my credit card, guilting me about the discount he was giving me and my perceived ungratefulness, and he did not give me any information on my computer - including the password to access it which I had to call again and ask for. Again when I called, "I told you what it was, I'm sure I did." I think the way he handles clients is unprofessional and I feel incredibly uncomfortable with my service here, as any complaint I made was constantly argued with and not taken seriously, because it seemed there was no way they could be at fault. While I was really eager to check this place out, it became constantly uncomfortable. I hope the customer service can be a little less humorous and defensive, and more aware of their clients needs and fulfilling them quickly and painlessly. read more

I URGENTLY needed service. My graduate school applications were due THAT DAY and my macbook pro's logic board suddenly failed. All my app files were on the computer. The drive was fine, the Apple Store Genius Bar assured me that it was a graphics card defect only. All I needed done was to get the hard drive removed from my laptop and put into an enclosure that I owned. At Di-No, it would've cost $150 dollars ($100 for the rush order since they were busy that day, and $50 for the labor). But for some reason, the specialist I talked to on the phone refused to give me an ETA on how long it would take. I would've gladly paid for the $100 rush order to get me in front of the line, as long as I was given assurances or even estimates that it would be done within the day. But she wouldn't even give me an estimate. They lost me as a potential customer because of that. Instead, I went to a nearby store called Unitek. They gave me what I needed in 10 minutes and charged only $69. So consider Unitek as an alternative. read more

My daughter spilled some water to my macbok pro and I found out few hours later after not working. I took that to Apple store and they checked for free. They said luckily everything works fine except keyboard and power button which is one part. So they give me a list of repair store they recommend and I picked here because it's close. And also the guy said it won't that high price. Maybe 200. So I went there and left my Mac and they called me next day and said I need to change mother board which is $850. That was even higher than apple store. So I explained them about apple guy and they can change that part only but still $375. I just brought back and found another place. I came in with a usb flash drive that had essentially broken in half. The 4 prongs that connect the base to the metal usb connection were exposed and half of my flash drive was inside my computer. I dont know the exact terminology, so please excuse me. Anyway, they tried and tried and tried to fix my flash drive and thats just it--they never gave up!!!! These folks really know what they are doing, and they are lower cost than Apple Store for Mac repairs. My MacBook Pro crashed and wouldn't boot; I took it to Apple, where a Genius Bar guy said I'd need to get a complete data backup (which Apple doesn't do) before they could do anything else. Di-No was able to fix the problem by rebuilding the drive directory, which substantially reduced my cost compared with having to do a full data recovery. They also replaced the laptop battery, at lower cost than Apple would have charged for the same job, and replaced the screen under a warranty-related recall program from Apple, so there was no cost for that work. Now I have my MacBook Pro back, new screen, new battery, and functioning drive, for $225. I consider that a real bargain. (Caveat: the free screen replacement is only avaiable for certain years and certain models of Mac laptops, so don't expect it automatically for yours.) My only complaint, and it is a very minor one, was that they failed to notify me that there was a delay in getting parts needed for the repairs. I took the computer into them on Thursday and they said it would be ready Friday, but I wasn't actually able to get my laptop back until Monday noon. They did do a very fast turnaround once they got the parts into the shop on Monday morning. I would happily use this business again for a Mac-related repair. Highly recommended. read more

i got a quote for a ram upgrade over the phone, but when i went in, they said it was going to be $40 more than the quoted price. i left not really happy. i shopped around a bit, and others quoted me for the lower price, so i called di-no back. i talked to monty, and he said he didn't know the reason for the price increase, and if i brought it in he would take care of me. when i got there, he opened up my computer and saw that the ram cards were in fact a different type, which were more expensive. but since i had driven there twice, and twice been quoted a lower price on the phone, he gave me the lower price after all. he was really nice, friendly, helpful, fast. i'll be back for any of my mac needs. read more

My husband and I went to Di-No after my hard-drive crashed on my NEW 3-month old MacBook Pro. I was devastated because I had not backed up my data. The Apple store gave me a list of Apple authorized locations that would honor the Apple Care warranty and also attempt the data recovery on my hard-drive. My husband first called Los Feliz Hi-Tech in Griffith Park and he was quoted a price of $90 to diagnose the laptop. He then called them back to confirm the price and service turn around and was given a higher quote of $90 for the first hour of diagnosis, an additional hourly rate beyond the first hour and a $120 service charge to diagnosis the laptop the same day! The guy at Los Feliz Hi-Tech would not give my husband an estimated timeline or estimated total cost to diagnose and service the laptop. My husband was disappointed in the high price and inconsistent quotes at Los Feliz, so he went with his gut and took them off the list of authorized service dealers for us to use. Next he called Di-No Computers in Pasadena and was given a quote of $50 as a flat fee to diagnosis the laptop. He was also told that the maximum we would have to pay to perform the data recovery would be $180 - there were no hidden fees or additional same day diagnosis fees. When we arrived at Di-No, we were greeted professionally, the process was explained and a few days later I received my laptop with the new hard-drive in pristine condition and more importantly all of my hard-drive data recovered!!! All of the people we dealt with at Di-No provided great service (from the front desk greeter to the service desk rep and the service technician). In addition, Di-No gave me up to date reports on the progress of the repair job. They were honest, reliable and great to work with. This is my second experience working with Dino. Everyone at the office is very nice but they are very misleading in their pricing and communication is terrible. I brought an external HD in to recover the data and transfer over to a new SSD. I was originally quoted $350 HAHA for transferring 6 gigs of data because the HD was a 1TB but of course, did not have that much data on it. Then after mentioning something it was $250 and I still thought that was not right seeing how there were only 6 gigs on the drive. They ended up charging me $175 which is still crazy expensive for the work that was done. Another thing with them is the communication I tried to call and get the tech that was working on my drive for one week and left multiple messages but never received a callback. If you need any type of data transfer or anything done I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. It's almost like they run a bait and switch operation. read more

A few months ago my external drive broke from wear and tear. At least that's what I thought it was. When I brought it into Di-No, I discovered that the damage was more severe than I anticipated and that the disk itself wouldn't mount. To be honest, I wasn't too hopeful about data retrieval. I had been to two places before Di-No and they made data recovery sound like a risky and costly process. They assessed the damage of my drive and estimated that it was a lost cause. However, Di-No completely flipped those expectations. There were no guarantees but Jordan was very patient, answered all my questions, and worked quickly to perform a successful data recovery on my drive. I originally went to the "Geek Squad" and as soon as I walked into the repair department I was asked if I wanted to scrap the computer because it was too old to work on. They called it obsolete. Di-No's techs are very knowledgeable, and this time they were exceptionally patient with me. I had an old external drive, that had only firewire, but no USB port. I was totally convinced, that thousands of my precious pictures and videos were on the drive. Monty rescued everything from the drive, and called me a day later letting me know that the transfer was successful. Unfortunately other than some music there was nothing on the new drive that Monty gave me. I was very disappointed, and asked him if that was ALL on the drive. He was very patient, tried to explain the technicalities (way above my head in drive technology), and promised to try his tricks again. Unfortunately there were no new data recovered. I called him again and tourchered him for a few minutes to see if there was ANYTHING else that could be done. Monty remanied calm, cool and collected. Rod was incredibly helpful with my ailing iMac -crashing, freezing and excruciatingly slow! He tested everything and figured out it was actually a problem with the Time Capsule's hard dirve. Then he went the extra mile and wiped the capsule and set it up so it can just be used to send my wifi. The up front $75 fee is a bit of a jolt if you are used to Apple Store free diagnosis. However if you have a problem, they will find out and the $75 goes towards fixing it. I have found they are very reliable and definitely know their stuff. While I can do most basic repairs myself, they are a great resource and a place I sent friends and family when they need some knowledge, repairs, or new stuff. read more

A few weeks ago I realized my Apple laptop trackpad was stiff so I went to the Apple store to get it fixed. The guy came back and told me there was liquid damage inside my computer. He told me that he didn't know how extensive the damage was but that I should send it to the Apple headquarters to get it diagnosed and fixed which would cost around $750 (as he stated). I then yelped some other computer places, refusing to believe that paying $750 was my only choice. So I went to Di-No's, payed the $50 down payment/diagnosis payment to get it checked out. A technician called me about an hour and a half later and left a voicemail saying that there was nothing wrong with my computer except that there was a little stickiness on the back!! My computer passed all the tests and is perfectly fine and they didn't even charge me more so all in all it only cost me $50 to get a cleaning that I would have gotten in a few months anyways! I went in trying to get my device fixed, and this technican named Pedro was literally the worst employee I've ever met in my life. long story short my phone fell at Applebees by a server and well they're literally willing to reimburse me my money when I bring them a receipt this guy Pedro was trying to make me pay the full price of the phone which was 303 and some change, when he legit told me I had apple care. he said I agreed to pay the 303 when I never agreed to that. his excuse was "remember I told you, you should pay the full amount so you don't lose one of your incidents as if I care if I lose an incident or not. so today rolled around I was waiting to receive a phone call from him since I told him I would only pay the apple care price he was being rude and what not that's when I gave up I even gave him till 12pm and still no answer so I demanded him to put my old screen back on (the broken one) and he told me he'll do it and hung up the phone. I had to call back again just get the time id be able to go pick up my device. never again will I go to a third party vendor from apple. save your time, your gas and energy if you need something done right go to an actual APPLE RETAIL STORE read more
