I so, so wanted to enjoy this way more than I actually did. I've had the red sauce versions in the past and had just given up as the spice level was too much for me. (I do have a very low spice tolerance.) I was excited to try their white garlic sauce on the Wild Mushroom pizza and added cheddar and bacon, in exchange for removing the red peppers and capers. The pizza, with my choice of additions and the garlic base, was way too rich. The sauce was mainly bread and garlic bits and left me feeling like I wasn't really eating pizza. I have some serious issues with some of the Specialty Pizzas at Dewey's. Their slogan is "Taking Pizza to the Next Level" but it's more like "Taking Pizza to the Last Decade" Some of these toppings are seriously dated. The house salad has goat cheese, dried cranberries and pine nuts. Yeah, I get it, we figured out in the 1990's that you can put more than just iceberg lettuce in salads and pepperoni on pizzas. It's time to move on. That being said, the Ryan's Inferno and Green Lantern are a serious guilty pleasure for me. Another nice feature is that they will split Specialty Pizzas half and half. Great for a group that can't agree on a type of pizza. When the crust is done right, the pizza is fantastic. Unfortunately 9 times out of 10 it comes out a little soggy. I've been to this particular Dewey's location on two separate occasions. The first time, I had worked overtime and got off work late - I didn't feel like cooking and wanted to pick up something on the way home. Co-workers had ordered Dewey's for lunch and it looked amazing. I called to place an order without looking at the menu - which could have been a disaster. The nicest lady picked up the phone - I could tell it was busy by the noise in the background - but she didn't seem to be in a rush at all. I told her I had never been there before. She asked what I usually liked on pizza. I told her that I preferred a white sauce and plenty of vegetables - she recommended a pizza that I now recognize as their Green Lantern - subbed the red sauce for the white - it was fantastic! The second time I was there, I took my sister. We ordered a large customized pizza and two salads. A couple minutes after we got our salads, the manager came out and advised that our pizza had accidentally been made on a medium crust instead of a large. He asked if we wanted to wait a little longer for it to be re-made or he could offer us a free appetizer. The salads were bigger than we expected and a medium between two people felt sufficient, so we declined his offer, thanked him for letting us know, and asked him to just bring the medium. I appreciated his gesture - it was very kind and he approached the situation in a great way! It was kind of loud in the restaurant, but there were also quite a few people there. Even so, the waitresses were very attentive and our glasses were never empty. We were able to get boxes and pay our check with ease. Will definitely be back again! read more

I split the 13" Edgar Allen Poe with my parents. It was plenty of pizza for 3 adults. I was surprised by how good this pizza is. Even though Dewey's doesn't have a wood-fired oven, they get a good char on their pizza crust. It's the closest to authentic Italian pizza I've had so far in Cincinnati. If you order the Edgar Allen Poe, add prosciutto to it. What would make it amazing would be pouring some truffle oil on top of the pizza. Yummmm!! Our server didn't know anything about truffle oil, so you'll have to bring your own for that wonderful experience. This is probably my favorite quick bite places to go around my house. It isn't the best pizza in Cincinnati - but it is very delicious. The food is always great. I love the calzones and seasonal pizzas. My wife and I happened to come across a taco pizza once that was seasonal - it was probably our favorite pizza they make. In addition, all of the salads are great. The always have a great selection of craft beers. The wait staff is polite and attentive. Having eaten at this location several times whilst visiting from Scotland, I can say I am impressed. Really love the crust on the pizzas, and the toppings are unusual and inspired. The roasted garlic - oh my, to die for! A good selection of drinks, too, and friendly service, although the last visit was pretty slow on service. Dewey's is no longer a secret in Cincinnati, now that there are several locations from which to choose. That said, it's still hard to consider Dewey's a classic 'chain pizza joint'. The atmosphere at the Kenwood location is similar to the other spots -- very casual, and comfy, and probably a little more spacious. Dewey's has a clean, more upscale feel for a pizza place, but does so without seeming awkward (i.e. nice small bar, still family friendly, good vibe). The food is delicious, both salads and pizza. If you are out with your better half, then start by splitting a house salad (the portions are huge). As for pizza, it's nice that Dewey's allows for 1/2 and 1/2 pies, regardless of type of sauce (red/white). We prefer the red sauce in general, as it has a very fresh and subtly spicy favor. A few favorites: 1) Green Lantern - not the obvious choice, but perfectly balanced. Unique to Dewey's. Our fav! 2) BBQ Chicken - it's a little sweet with the BBQ, but the ingredients are all fresh. Chicken is fresh, and thinly sliced. 3) House salad (per above) 4) Dessert - they have cakes from the BonBonerie. If you haven't tried the Opera Cream cake yet, then you haven't lived. PHENOMENAL SERVICE is the only way to describe Deweys in Kenwood. I have never seen a staff of people work so well together. My boyfriend and I live about 2 minutes from the location and frequent often and every time we talk about how great the service is. It was good tonight- the salad was a bit light on toppings, I had to squint to find the bacon, but they brought more when I brought it up. Our pizzas were cooked perfectly, and I love that they can do half and half. Me, the picky eater, can have my plain half while my husband, the adventurous one, gets to try something wild for once! They are always kind to my daughter, and bring her little cups of grapes and cheese to enjoy while we have salads and wait for our pizza. Magic Glass Wall Not every Dewey's pizza in the area has what my 4-yr-old daughter refers to as the "magic wall". In truth, it is a gigantic glass partition that separates the restaurant from the kitchen, and allows the kiddos to see the pizza making process. The Dewey's in Kenwood has the "Magic Wall". Frankly, it is beginning to be the restaurant version of kiddie crack; right on par with Disney movies, Barney, and any cartoon on PBS. The reason I bring this up, as opposed to focusing on the food, is because it is the service that makes Dewey's stand out as a pizza joint. The employees behind the glass are always cool enough to put on a show for the kids; spinning dough high in the air, drawing faces on the window, and randomly throwing flour at those watching. I've neve had a bad experience in there. The last time the redhead and I took my daughter there, they put a hole in the pizza while making it. The manager came out and apologized for the wait, explained why, and then comped our pizza. Here's the kicker though; it all happened in the kitchen. We never had any idea that the pie had been damaged until he told us. They easily could have just made another one, apologized for the wait, and then charged is for the pie and we never would have been the wiser. But that is not how Dewey's rolls. While the place has fantastic pizza, a great craft brew selection with seasonal options, and allows you to order half one topping, half another topping on one pie, it is a bit pricey. I never expect to drop less than around $50 with tip when I walk into the place. If you're not a beer or wine drinker, you're tab will likely be less. But you know what? With the kind of service that I have always received, it is a place I don't mind dropping that much cash on a meal. A great value and if you have kids do yourself a favor and find a location with the "Magic Wall". You won't be disappointed. read more

Ive given deweys kenwood many chances. . It seems to really have gone downhill in the last year, but tonight was the last straw. Our pizza was awful. The pizza barely had cheese on it , it wasn't completely cooked and there was a giant dough ring where toppings should be. I love Dewey's. My favorites are the Wild Mushroom and Green Lantern, but really, I don't think I've tasted one I don't like. This location is clean, efficient, and has good service. Kids love watching them make the pizzas through the window. I like how there is not a ton of sauce on the pizzas, and they put high quality ingredients to make them oh so delicious. I give Dewey's 4 stars for only one reason; price. The food at Dewey's is outstanding. They have a number of pre-set specialty pizzas with both red and white sauce. You can also create your own but this can get very costly as it is a per item extra charge. Dewey's also sports a decent drink selection as the one in Clifton has it's own cellar. Dewey's is a great spot for large groups and the food is awesome. Just remember to bring your cash (if you plan on creating your own pizza.) read more

I have been to several Dewey's locations and like those the food here is awesome. The pizza is fantastic, they have lots of great specialty options and all of the ones I've tried are great. On this visit my mom and I split a half Bronx Bomber and half Green Lantern and while both were good the green lantern was more unique since it has goat cheese and artichokes. The reason this isn't a 5 star review is because of the service. After we were seated one server got our drink order almost right away. A couple of minutes later another server came to take our food order. After about 10-15 minutes our food arrived, all of which was great but that's when the service stopped. I don't mean it was bad. Or slow. I mean it was non existent. When our food was delivered I was almost out of water but the server didn't notice and then no one ever came back. We finished the meal and waited for the check and a to go box for at least 15-20 minutes before finally getting up to find someone to get us what we needed. This was particularly annoying since we had my kids with us and it was already like 9:00 at night and they were getting restless and tired after spending the day at the zoo. I know things happen but since it wasn't at all busy I guess I expected more attentive service. Hopefully that's what we will find if we are in the area again. read more

My wife and I usually got to the Oakley Dewey's, but last night we were going out with a larger group so we chose this one, because it seems to have more seating, and they were able to seat our larger group fairly quickly. The draft beer selection was a little weird, but good enough. I really like the peppercorn ranch salad and the pepperoni pizza; my wife likes the socrates revenge or the bronx bomber. This is HANDS DOWN my favorite pizza place in Cincinnati. My family LOVES pizza so we've tried the majority of local pizza places in the area... and for me nothing tops Dewey's. While the named pizza's are always delicious, we usually just customize our own (anchovies, olives, spinach, sometimes sausage, and of course the red sauce!) and it's SO SO GOOD! My favorite part about the pizza is probably the crust. I'm a fan of "bready" crust... crust with some umph! I enjoy the crust as much as the toppings part of the pizza, and I bet you can't say that about most pizzas that you've eaten!! You have to try Dewey's at least once. We love to take-out but the restaurants also have a great, happening and hip atmosphere and they're always hustling and bustling with business! If you're taking-out, make sure you're ready to wait a good 20 to 30 minutes for your pizza to be ready. Lastly, if you have kids, they'll LOVE watching the employees make the pizza by hand through the glass window! It's definitely a good distraction while waiting for the food. read more

Dewey's Green Lantern Pizza would be my last meal on earth. My profile doesn't lie. There is nothing I don't like about Dewey's Pizza. The service is always fast, they get the food out quickly even when it's packed, the beer selection is great for a semi-non-chain pizza place, and unlike other pizza joints, you never have to come to a consensus when ordering pizza for a group. They will 1/2 any pizza, regardless of toppings, or even sauce. The salads are always filled with flavor and very fresh. I personally like the Peppercorn Ranch salad, but the greek, house, and specialty salads are all great. As stated before, the Green Lantern is my favorite pizza (red sauce, mozz, goat cheese, artichokes, mushrooms, and pesto), but I also enjoy the Ryan's Inferno (ranch sauce, buffalo chicken, gorgonzola cheese, mozz, onion, and celery) and the Don Corleone in the winter (specialty pizza with different kinds of italian meats). I absolutely love Dewey's Pizza. Being from NYC, I tend to favor NY style pizza. Although they don't advertise their pizza as such, this by all means is the closest I've ever had to NY style pizza without it being the real thing. The dough is so soft (everytime) and delicious. I now realize I've only ordered the fontina-mozzarella blend sauce and have the red sauce on the side. Either way, you are sure to love their food. I'm a fan of pizza... almost any pizza, and I generally try to eat healthy and reward myself once a week with food that just that just tastes good and that reward is usually pizza. Great pizza place, looks bigger from the outside than it actually is on the inside. First off I'd recommend using the NoWait app to get yourself in line especially during peak hours because there's probably going to be a line. Depending on the time also, it might be hard to find a spot in the parking lot because there is a lot going on in this strip mall. With all that aside let's get to the actual food. I came here on a weekend night around peak dinner time, we had intended on going to A Tavola but the wait was about an hour and we were hungry. We checked in on the NoWait app, walked in and stood in line for about 10 min (not had considering the actual wait was about 30-45min without the app) and I was entertained the entire time by being able to watch the employees hand toss and load up the pizzas for the oven. One we were seated the waitress was attentive and pretty good about checking in on us. We ordered the seasonal salad (I can't remember what it was, sorry) but it did have pumpkin seeds, pine nuts, and a crumbly cheese. We did a build your own pizza with chicken, peppers and onions and it came out pretty quick and smelled delicious. The cheese is what made the pizza great. With some places it's the sauce, here, it was the cheese and we didn't leave a crumb. I'd gladly come back, it's a little more expensive than some of the other pizza places like La Rosas but it's well worth the cost. I'd gladly come back especially if we used the app again to get in line while we're driving to the place. read more

I have dined at Deweys a million times and I have yet to be disappointed. This place is a staple in my list of places to go for a middle-of-the-road, casual date night out. The Kenwood location is located directly next door to the Kenwood Theater, which is an added bonus. Awesome pizza and a movie right next door? Sign me up. The service at Deweys is always on point and the food is consistently good- no matter what you order. They offer a great drink menu, seasonal dishes and gormet local desserts for a reasonable price. I am referring to carryout in this review. They get it right and delicious each and every time. The sad thing is even though we live close to the Oakley Dewey's, we have to drive to Kenwood to pick up. The Dewey's in Oakley rarely gets it right. For instance, a week ago, we showed up to pick up at the appointed time. Eleven people stood in line to check out from their meals. Rather than call to those whose carryout was ready (and getting colder by the minute), the one person checked the customers out, one at a time. When our turn finally came, they said, "Oh, you only have cold stuff." No, we ordered a large pizza, too. Sitting there, now completely cold. Last time at Oakley, guys. This summer I ordered a large catered salad to take back to PA. Oh, my, they forgot half of the ingredients! Then, they weren't busy at all!! The manager credited my card, but then I had no salad at all for a party. Mistake all around! Oakley could learn a lot from Kenwood! read more

Parking was tough to find and the wait to get a table was incredibly long due to the popularity of the restaurant and the time we arrived. After we were finally able to get in, the service was great and the pizza was, too, but that took quite a bit of time as well. For chain pizza ,deweys wasn't too bad. Their pizza selections cover a wide range of tastes and is fairly creative. They have a monthly special which is currently fig pizza with Gorgonzola and prosciutto which was rather sweet and tasted like a dessert pizza. We make our own fresh pizza every week at home and I must say deweys crust needs work. If you like soft then theirs is for you. The cheese dominated the flavor and texture and seemed to overpower everything. The ingredients were not fresh tasting , even the all mushroom pizza just tasted like separate pieces and never came together as a whole. Our table of eight got at least four or five different types of pizzas, all had a similar feel and texture. Although our friends who are local love the Greek salad, we were less than impressed, especially with the dressing which was plopped over the top and not well mixed. The atmosphere is fun with a group, not a great first date spot. It is quite noisy on a Friday evening , most patrons cleared out by 9:30. Recommendation: the Cougar beer I'd recommend for middle-of-the-road style. read more

My pizza was as good as any Dewey's, but I did not have a good service experience here. Empty glass, no check back from server. There is a Dewey's close to us in Kentucky in the Crestview Hills Town Center so we usually go to that one.
