This location is a drive through, super fast and easy to get a treat! We get the Black and white with peppermint ice-cream. And the black and gold (peanut butter). Every time we are out here visiting family here we make a trip out to a Dewars location . I recommend this place to everyone! If your ever in the area, or even just driving through you have to make a stop at one of the locations p.s this location is the only drive through. Their other locations are indoors. If you don't like the popular ones ie: the black & white they have a variety of different ice cream flavors and toppings to choose from. I recommend to top any flavor off with the marshmallow topping . They also sell candy chews , these are great to take and give as gifts. Been going here for years. Just within the last year they nearly halved the size of everything yet are charging $1-3 more for any one item??? They were expensive to begin with but at least the sizes were alright. Now i'm paying even more for less?? I understand supplier prices have gone up for everyone but there's no way Dewars isn't raising theirs even more. Wont go back until sizes go back to normal and prices reflect what you're getting. The worst! The only reason I go is because my boys love the ice cream.. I however hate the long drive thru lines. Then, when you go inside you see 10 people working. How the hell do you have so many people working and still take forever?!! Every time I go inside to order I wait at least 20min, I could only imagine waiting in the drive thru line! Today I ordered the usual 2 coops of cookies and cream, one scoop of cotton candy and a Black and Tan. I literally live 5min away. Dewar's Ice Cream....one of Bakersfield's best! This location is one of the newest and the only one with a drive-thru. The ice cream is as delicious here as the one on Calloway or on California but when you can just drive thru as a quick pick up that is just even better. I rated 4 stars based of the drive thru and of course the consistency of the ice cream. I haven't ate inside so I'm unsure of the atmosphere or customer service from a table stand point. I'm sure it is no less than what I have experienced at the other locations. I am not a huge lover of ice cream but I do enjoy it from time to time. And Dewar's definitely hits the spot. This time I ordered an original Banana Split which was so delectable. I didn't know you can customize your own banana split so next time I definitely will be doing that. My wife ordered the Red & White which she adores and my kids always mix & match up scoops in a large sundae. Always thought this location with a drive-thru was a brilliant idea. Customers get their favorite ice cream in the convenience of their car. I have been here quite a bit, most of the time I get the Strawberry Special. A delicious mixture of fresh strawberries, ice cream, walnuts blended together. My son sticks with his go to, cookies and cream scoop with caramel topping. The strawberry special is a bit large for me to finish in my own so I ask for it to be split in two cups. I have had ice cream all over LA and I can say this is still my favorite by far. read more

Once again.... I love the iced cream but management has got to improve. I know they are super slooooowww through the drive so I decided to go inside. Glad I did, because as I was in there I was watching one if the workers prepare my ice cream. As she scooped the icecream into the container, it fell in the floor. She threw away the container(great job) that fell on the floor, but she never discarded her gloves after picking up the floor. Then she scooped our ice cream. Gross... Amongst everything else she touched before I brought it to her attention( like the icream scooper handles). Need to have higher standards at this location. After lunch, my family & I stopped here to get our dessert on. Dewars is SO cute!! And they have a drive through, what?! For ~$4 I got a large-ish styrofoam cup filled with ice cream. They had a variety of ice cream favors, milkshakes, sundaes and more. They also have saltwater taffy, s'mores and other small treats available for sale. There are a few tables inside to sit and enjoy your treat. It wasn't very busy when we were there, but there were 3 employees working. The restaurant was clean and well kept. read more

This location is teensy weensy, so if you're looking for big flashy amped up ice cream parlor, go to the one on Brimhall and Calloway. It's quite the spectacle. Yeah yeah yeah. I'm biased. This is another one of those Bakersfield gems that may be a little hyped up. However, Dewar's is the almighty Zeus of ice cream joints everywhere. I swear it. Their flavors aren't incredibly intricate and it's not fancy shmancy claiming to taste of angel kisses and dolphin tears, but it honestly comes pretty close. I would be less sure of Dewar's if it wasn't so tried and true. Friends from near and far -- without any Bakersfieldian influence on their love for Dewar's -- can't resist it's magic either. My best friend's Christmas stocking stuffer from me was a gift card to here. She was STOKED! Even though she lives 4 hours away. Something about the ice cream here is so alluring. I describe the texture as frosting-like. I would say frozen frosting, but no -- the ice cream here is soooo soft and delicate and frostingish, yet so sinfully rich and wonderful, there's just no comparison to anywhere else. I always say I'll branch out and try all flavors someday. But birthday cake, cotton candy, and orangeberry swirl keep reeling me in. I've tried the Reese's cup flavor and it's fabulous, as well as the peppermint stick flavor. Both are heavenly. The black and white (and all other sundaes) isn't for sissies. Its a chocolate and marshmallow sundae. It's breathtaking, but I don't think I've ever finished mine in a single sitting. Maybe someday though. I was at this location Tuesday or Wednesday night. It was busy and the store was almost at regulation capacity. A very concerning situation happened with a patron who didn't want to wear a mask the right way. A worker (perhaps her name was Jade) told the customer to adjust the mask. She noticed it was down again and told the customer he had to wait outside. She ends up in a debate with the woman he was with. Then she told her, the CUSTOMER, to 'Get out of my face you disgust me.' The store was busy, but the defiance of customers should never be handled in this manner. I have had nothing but REALLY good service at this location. I was appalled by this girl's behavior, especially because it isn't normal for the store. Please address this so it doesn't make your customers leave. We love Dewars. read more

I've always ordered a George's Special and I substitute the chocolate for Caramel and I've paid $9.90. Today Elizabeth told me she can't substitute the Caramel and proceeded to charge me $14. I never have had this issue in the past and she was rude and my experience was unpleasant. Not impressed at all. I think their candies and ice creams are very good! But everything else we tried here was just lousy. I also think their inside seating is insufficient for any groups larger than 4, and their heater wasn't working outside when we went at night. The chocolate shake wasn't too bad but it's hardly the best I've had...just not creamy/smooth enough, a bit like a diet shake with too much ice-like texture. Wish there was a wider variety of shakes, some fruit varieties like Date would be nice. Worst of all was their hot chocolate...you would think a dessert place like this would get this simple beverage right. Our hot chocolate was, quite simply, the WORST hot chocolate I've ever had...it tasted like it was made with equal parts tap water and toilet water...no creaminess, not sweet at all, just flat out disgusting. The service is pretty good, and the drive through is a convenient feature, especially in the summer if you don't want to get out of the car, but the ice cream is just "ok". I definitely enjoy this location so much more than the others. This is mainly due to their drive thru which at times can be quick or take longer than going inside. Inside of the store is extremely small. It reminds me of a bigger studio apartment that just added two ice cream freezer things and 4/5 tables for eating. After the fantastic banana split yesterday at the Eye St location, my mom and I split a small sundae of chocolate with marshmallow while my son got a cone of bubblegum.
