Overpriced cake but they sell jelly cakes which I'll be coming back to buy. Cake wasn't the greatest Two slices for $20, big cakes range from $60 and up Service was friendly Ambiance was like a kids Toy Story and gift shop that sells cakes

This local bakery is my family's go-to for special event cakes. Their cakes are dense, flavorful, and never dry. One side of the shop is the bakery with coffee, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. The other side of the shops is a seasonal boutique with candles, jewelry, home goods, and clothing. My only constructive feedback is I wish their clothing line sweatshirts and caps didn't promote so much day drinking (think glitter Rock Republic 1990's vibe.) The shop is so cute there is room for more memes, comical, and inspiring things than "let's get drunk off wine" apparel. Regardless, their baked goods take the cake!!

I purchased a strawberry shortcake cheesecake for my birthday and the presentation did not come as advertised. Their social media advertises it with strawberries on top. I was pretty bummed out opening it up at home and realizing it didn't have strawberries, especially for a $85 cake. When I ordered they asked if i wanted to add wording for an additional cost, but I wasn't asked if i wanted to add strawberries for an additional cost so i assumed it is included? Overall i don't feel like i got what i wanted.

First time hearing about this bakery!! A coworker was making a big order from here and asked if we wanted anything so I decided to order their iced vanilla latte! It was pretty good but it definitely lived up to the bakery's name of being sweet. But i would love to come back and try a different drink and try their cake! But overall, the drink tasted yummy :)

Usually Sweet Surrender is consistent and great, but something is up lately. Idk if change in staff or management, but whatever it is needs to be changed back lol. We order my nephews birthday cake from here every year, funfetti with the fondant polka dots. This year they tell us they don't do the polka dots anymore, just sprinkles??? He doesn't like sprinkles. So now we have a boring cake that we have to put our own fondant circles on- super annoying, especially for how expensive their products are. I also order a Rice Krispie treat, and I can't really see it because it's far away but it looks yellow. I ask the employee why it's yellow and she says it's "colored marshmallow" and I say okay... I get to the counter to pay and it's already in the bag and I don't check because homegirl said it was a colored marshmallow. I get home and it's got PEEPS in it. Bro, why did she say "colored marshmallow" when it is a name brand patented product called PEEPS. I despise peeps, they're disgusting. Not to mention it's July???? Why the hell are we using peeps in July, that is March/April activity. I had to call and ask for a refund and throw away this Rice Krispie all because the employee couldn't be bothered to accurately describe the product and purposefully used the vague description "colored marshmallow". She was nice, don't get me wrong, but obviously lazy at describing the products being sold. Please do better so I don't have to be annoyed and write dumb reviews.

We have been coming here for many years. It's our favorite! Everyone that works here is excited to be at work doing what they do. They take pride in keeping the place clean and fully stocked with every fun gift you could ever want to surprise a friend with. The food is to die for, ALL of it! Oreo cheesecake is my personal favorite!

We are shopping for our wedding cake for late June. SS has traditional options and some customizable choices. We went home with sample cupcakes to help us decide what's for us. Further updates coming as we haven't decided yet. The cupcakes were delicious.

A friend recommended that we stop by while we were in Bakersfield. This shop is a bit hidden by a shopping area but your GPS should get you to the right place. Inside the bakery, there's a baked good section and then a bigger area for gifts and baking supplies. We tried the chocolate cake and tres leches. Both were good. The cakes were moist and well made.

I knew there was a bakery past the Dollar Tree and the Grocery Outlet but I haven't really been inside. A very colorful and welcoming patio greets you and when we stepped inside, you'd see all these little birthday-themed merch that made me and my daughter take some time strolling before we realized that we went there wanting to try their baked goods. It was hard to decide if I wanted a cupcake or a bar but I chose the bar since I wanted to enjoy my treat at home. I was thinking of Bakersfield heat and didn't want to risk having melted icing when I get home. So, went for their billionaire bar and boy it got me hooked! It was so rich and decadent with the right balance of sweetness, I could probably eat one everyday! To be honest, I think everything on display would be as equally delicious and we know there's only one way to find out, this bakery deserves a return trip!

Way too expensive. Although they have a lot to offer, including gluten-free, I believe that their prices are too high for the marketplace.

I went twice to this location two days in a row because I enjoyed it so much. First with a friend and then I had to introduce it to my kids. The coffees and teas are delish and unique, as well as the smoothies and juices (I didn't try those but my kids loved them). We tried a variety of baked goods, the honeycomb bread is sooooo dang good! Filled with little pockets of cream cheese, drizzled with honey, and topped with toasted regular and black sesame seeds (I forgot to take a pic of this one, but I'll add it next time I go). We enjoyed all of the pastries we tried- not a crumb on our plates by the time we were finished! The decor is beautiful and unique. All of the employees super nice and helpful. You can ask them for descriptions or ask for a menu to see details and ingredients. They're open late too, so I think my next visit will be a GNO or a date with my hubby.

They also had free WiFi & since it's near the university, it's popping with college students working on their laptops. I absolutely love the variety of items to eat & drink! I got the Dubai chocolate, manakeesh, mint mango smoothie (seasonal for Ramadan, not a permanent item) & a Vimto refresher. I've never had Dubai chocolate before but I am STOKED I had it here for the first time. Perfect size, perfect crispy texture & powerful flavor. I love that the pistachio isn't overwhelming. The manakeesh is my all time favorite. Flatbread with white melted cheese & the perfect seasonings. It's embarrassing how quick I ate it. I can't savor it because it's THAT GOOD!! Only $3!!! The Vimto refresher is my absolute favorite new drink. It has sparkling water with berries. Chefs kiss. I know it's going to hit hard in the summer when I'm needing a cold drink. The mint mango smoothie is PHENOMENAL! The balance of mint & mango is just right. I hope they keep this item around. The service was also wonderful. Kind baristas that are knowledgeable & definitely hard workers! They are a very busy business & they handle it with ease. One thing I do not care for (but it will not affect negatively on my review) is credit card payments. Your subtotal they tell you after you order is only if you pay cash. If you pay card, it is atomically more because of credit card charges but they do not say that. It will also reflect an even higher amount on the screen because it automatically adds 20% gratuity to your credit card charge. So it goes from one price, to another, to another. I always tip but if it's not a restaurant, it will typically be 10%. Be aware of the charges when you go. I absolutely love this spot. I can't wait to try new drinks & food!

The space is actually one of their biggest strengths there's a lot of seating, plenty of room to bring your laptop and work remotely, and areas where people can gather. It's also connected to a church, so it definitely leans into that community-centered atmosphere. Unfortunately, after going back 3-4 times hoping my experience would improve, the coffee has been consistently disappointing. It tastes burnt and weak at the same time like warm water with sugar. There barely seems to be any real espresso in the drinks. On more than one occasion, I've taken several sips hoping it would get better... and ended up throwing the whole drink away because it was just that bad. That's honestly frustrating, especially when you're paying for specialty coffee. The only drink I've actually enjoyed there is the pumpkin spice latte, that one was solid.

As I was walking I saw the sign for this place and was happy I did because my other coffee options were a fast food restaurant or the famous coffee chain. It was a bit confusing to locate. It was tucked away in the back of a commercial office space type building. Once inside the place was very clean and organized. Very minimalist design. I was only one of 4 total people inside. My order was taken quickly. I ordered an iced americano with a ham and cheese turnover. Coffee was on point. No notes. No complaints. The pastry however was not good. They asked me if I wanted it heated up. I said I did. I saw her put it in the microwave, and I assumed they turned it on. When I bit into it (I had already left and walked across the street) it was cold. Like cold cold. On top of that it was flavorless which made it worse. Lots of options on the menu, the cashier was nice, customer service 4/5. Ordered Matcha Oreo Slush ($7.95), 2.5/5. It was sweet from the crushed oreos and chocolate drizzle on the side. Besides that, the slush itself didn't have too much of a taste, either too icy or milky. Costs $1 for water+ice cup. Ordered 3 piece Boong O Pang ($9.95 + $2 flavors), 2/5 . They were slightly crispy on the edges but mostly soft. I ordered the Oreo Nutella (+$1) which was my favorite though it didn't have too much Nutella filling. Next was regular custard which it appears they used a type of custard that's very sweet and more of a jello consistency. Last was Strawberry Custard (+$1), unfortunately it appears they used chunks of strawberries that either were out too long or stewed in something as the strawberries were very sour and soggy and tasted a bit fermented. It was these strawberry bits with the regular custard but the strawberries threw me off so I ended up not finishing. The underwhelming flavors on the inside and the lack of crisp on the outside made these soggy desserts that I would not order again.
