    On 18th between O & Q Streets.

I stopped by Café Smitten on 18th Street after missing breakfast while meeting some workmen downtown. It was a quick visit, but a really pleasant one. The service was excellent--my Americano was ready in no time while they got my oatmeal prepared. Once I got everything, I headed back to the site and enjoyed my breakfast. They included fresh strawberries and blueberries, golden raisins, a bit of brown sugar, and some milk to mix in. Everything tasted great and it was just a really nice start to the day. If you find yourself in the downtown area, give Cafe Smitten a try.

We were happy to stop by Cafe Smitten to hang out while friends were in town. It was a nice day, so we were able to enjoy the outdoor seating area. We also chose this place because we were able to bring our friend's dog. The service was great, they were nice. Food was delicious. Breakfast burrito was a good size for 1 person, definitely didn't feel stuffed. Each of us enjoyed our meals and this is definitely a place we'd come back to especially on a nice day to eat outdoors. I would also like to come back and try their pastries.

A cute and reasonably priced cafe! Kind of random, but I love that this cafe has tons of windows to bring a bunch of light in. They mostly have tables for 2-4 seaters, but they do have one long table with bar stools (however, it's usually preoccupied by people studying!). The prices are pretty reasonable for the items that you get. I personally really enjoyed the Moroccan eggs, which come with two pieces of bread & a small cup of side salad. It comes nice and hot, perfect for the cold weather!! My friends all got burritos / steak wraps, but felt that their meat was pretty dry and tasteless. The matcha was unfortunately really milky and did not really taste like matcha :(. I feel that it is inconsistently made because when I was leaving, I happened to notice another customer got a really beautiful dark green matcha. My friend also got a chai which she felt was toooo overpowered by the amount of cinnamon that was added. The cinnamon brown sugar coffee was strong and sweet though! I personally would return just to give it another try / try other items on the menu!

I met u with a friend to catch up at Café Smitten and we both had such a great time here. Café Smitten is located in Downtown Bakersfield. They have a private lot and plenty of street parking in the area. You order at the cashier and they'll give you a number and you seat yourself. There is a front outdoor area, indoor seating, and a nice shaded back patio. Their menu had so many tasty options to choose from. We both ended up getting the Moroccan Eggs ($14.50/each) and Blackberry Lemonade MimoSmitten ($8/each). There were convenient self-serve water stations around the restaurant. We also grabbed some water and then headed to the back patio where there were many shaded tables. The food was soooooo delicious. Our Moroccan eggs came with toasted bread to dip into the tomato base. The meal also came with some tomato and cucumbers, pickles, and a creamy sauce. My favorite bites of the meal is definitely when the poached egg mixed with the tomato and onions and I ate all of that in one bite with some toasted bread. Yum! We both enjoyed our meal here and would definitely come back. The mimosmitten was also really refreshing and fun. I also really liked that we were able to chat and catch up and linger on a bit without feeling rushed. Overall a great spot for brunch. I'll definitely want to try their lattes the next time I come here.

10/10 experience! I ordered a strawberry mocha latte and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The service was excellent as well with such a welcoming environment and such kind staff. It's a cute little cafe to do work and I like how there's multiple outlets as well.

We tried the summer special drinks and they were all pretty good. My favorite was the cinnamon banana oat milk latte. I also liked the almond milkshake. I had to try the strawberry oatmilk matcha and it was very pretty

Really solid coffee shop in downtown Bakersfield. We drove by on a rainy day as we were making our way down south, and wanted a cozy coffee shop where you know the coffee would be on point - and this place delivered! The vibes were great, coffee was delicious (served counter coffee), and baked good was tasty (got their poppy seed bread). Highly recommend.

Cute cafe place! Pretty good mediterranean influenced food as well as great saladas and burgers. They have a selection of good breakfast toasts as well. My fav is the Caesar salad with the chicken added. I get it every time it is very filling too!

This place is so delicious. I popped in today and discovered that they have a pistachio muffin, which is amazing. I highly recommend it. Their coffee is always fresh and delicious and brewed just right. Their lattes have the right amount of milk and foam. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The café is not too busy right when they open and throughout the day, it just gets busier and busier, and sometimes seating can be hard to find. If you're looking for a breakfast and need some head downtime to work on things on a device... There are a few seating options where you can connect and work on their free Wi-Fi. Enjoy

I'm on a restricted diet & was SO happy to have accommodations from Cafe Smitten. They have some of the best & most elaborate items to eat. I've had numerous delicious dishes in the past from here but I loved that they were able to serve me a simple plate of eggs, avocado, fruit & black coffee. It was all great & cheap. My friend got a scone with jalapeño & cheese, as well as that amazing coffee drink. I love this environment. Such a cute, ambient little place. I loved their merchandise & that they have their own coffee brand! I also ADORE the case with all the delicious baked goods staring at me.

Wonderful little place with such good energy. Friendly staff, amazing food. The ambiance on the patio is easy breezy beautiful. I absolutely love it here. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who would listen. You'll be smitten. Literally.

Wow. In a bad way. So I just dined at the Botanist and the bartender suggested I come here to this cafe because they're owned by the same person. I walked in and picked up a mug as a souvenir for my boyfriend, and gave it to the girl at the front counter. I asked how much it was and she rolled her eyes and said 'fifteen dollars' as she turned away. I was left confused and then asked if I could have a drip coffee as well, and she rang it up without saying anything. I was offended at this point but then saw the pie and asked if I could also get a pie slice. She turned around and yelled behind her 'can someone get her a pie slice?!' and a man came behind and started helping me and said 'sorry' for her behavior, extremely unprofessional. She ended up getting my pie slice anyways, and as I sit down, I realize that he rang up my slice as ten entire dollars. I go up to the register to confirm the price, and he did. Okay, well this better be the best pie slice I've ever had. It was far from that. I used to be a cake decorator at a family owned bakery so I know a thing or two about well executed pastries. This 'Kona pie' was flavorless cream (it just needed confectioners sugar, it actually tasted like nothing) on top of what appeared to be burned, toasted coffee beans mixed with cookie crumble. I had three bites to try and justify the ten dollar price point, and tried washing it down with coffee. The coffee was completely watered down. The clock indicated it was about an hour until closing so I assume they don't have fresh coffee either and gave me the leftovers from the morning service. I leave my half eaten pie and barely sipped coffee at the table and take the mug I had originally purchased up to the counter and asked if I could return it. I didn't mention the service, the food, or coffee, I just wanted a refund for the merchandise. I wasn't about to make a scene. I got a refund and left. I have no idea what is wrong with this place but this was the first one star review I've ever had to give and it was extremely justified.

She comes from LA so we meet halfway. She is so nice and so friendly. She really won my heart! This is the second time we meet in Bakersfield. I had this place saved for a while now so I was excited for the visit there. We got there and they sat us almost right away. They have a cute lobby before the entrance to the restaurant. There is an old telephone booth and Christmas decorations. Johnny brought us the menu and it was the lunch menu. I saw on line that they had some great food for breakfast and Te-see asked him about it. He told us they were still making breakfast so I got happy. I ordered a coffee with cream and he brought it in a little tray with the creamer on the side. The table was a little wobbly and the coffee spilled all over the tray. Luckily Te-see got that fixed with a sugar packet. Jonny brought me another tray with coffee and cream. Almost everything was plant base, some egg and chicken but definitely no red meat. Unless I didn't see it. So I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my daughter the Happy-go-Lucky-bowl. Te-see got the torta española and slew got a pancake to shared. All the food came very fancy well presented. Almost like magazine perfect. I loved them. We were taking videos and pictures as we should like a truly Yelpers that we are. Haha! The food was so tasty and flavorful. I loved my chilaquiles. They were perfect for my palate. They were crunchy and still with the flavor of the sauce. So delicious. They came with a little bowl of beans from the olla. (Freshly cooked) Te-see mention that her torta española was great as well. It came with some green salad. And it did really look so good. My daughter got the Happy-go-lucky-bowl. I was surprised she liked it. It was so beautiful presented. Sorry I already mention that. But yes it was pretty. There was berries melon, pineapple. She said it was really good and filling. She couldn't finish it. The pancake we order to share was so healthy made with all the good grains like chia, hemp seed, brown rice, oat flour. So good. It had some bananas and berries on top. Really delicious. I want to go back again just writing about it. I may go back and order different things from the menu. The bathrooms are very clean. Thank goodness we finally found a place that satisfies us both! I ordered the Country Benedict and he ordered the Brunchiladas--both dishes were delicious and came in generous portions. Next, I knew this place was known for its Mexican breakfast AND scrambles, so I decided to try the best of both worlds. I ordered a chile verde scramble. The flavor was really good, everything felt homemade. The meat could've been slightly more juicy, but everything worked so well I didn't mind it. The ambiance was moderately noisy, yet relaxed.
