I ordered the loaded breakfast burrito to go and if I was to rate the taste on its own I would give it a 4 out of five stars. The tortilla was a bit tough in spots, but the chunky salsa was great. When I rate food at restaurants I will also base some of my ratings on portions. I spent $16 on one of the smallest breakfast burritos I have has in town. After my experience years ago at Donna Kaye's I was a bit disappointed. I rated the chicken fried steak breakfast a 5 out of 5 stars, not just on portion (it was huge), but on value and taste. I will go back for the chicken fried steak, which I think is one of the two best in town, but I will stick to that. read more

Yes, the space is a little tight, but it's filled with care and attention in every corner. As soon as we were seated, we were greeted with coffee and given time to look over the menu. There were so many great options that I didn't know what to choose! I ended up ordering the omelet with both red and green pork, and my date went for the chilaquiles with the same combo. The meat was tender, flavorful, and tasted like a true family recipe. I also ordered a Michelada, and the mix was delicious. Great little place. It brings back memories of days gone by. We had the chicken fried steak breakfast. Delicious. The gravy was on of the best I've ever tasted next to my moms. Stuffed toast was a real surprise. Fresh fruit inside that was ripe. The bacon was crispy like I ordered and the eggs were perfect. I like how you add your own salt and pepper. This was a brunch outing for my son and his family. The home-like feeling is why we eat there. They even put a candle on a pancake for him.

We went in Sunday afternoon. A party of five. It was packed inside and so we had to sit outside and keep company with the buzzing flies. The seating outside seems to be an afterthought, with hard seats and picnic tables. The service was great. Prices are high but I suppose that is normal since we are close to downtown Bakersfield. The food is that darned good. I had the veggie omelette and hash browns, good stuff. I also got a full stack of pancakes to share withy husband and son. On our way to Yosemite from San Diego, we stopped at this breakfast place. I ordered some savory breakfast pork chops with some eggs , hash browns and wheat toast. Serving is big and I was not disappointed. The pork chops were cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional . Brenda check on us and refill our coffee even though we were seated in their outside patio with our lovable dog Cooper. A small cozy diner! I always preferred the small diners & Waffle Houses of the south over the Dennys and IHOPS we have here. The diner wasn't too crowded around 8:45am, just the right amount of people. The food came fairly quick, in 7-10 minutes, just enough time to talk with my family. We stopped by here for breakfast driving up from LA to Portland. So glad my wife found this place. It was such a cute diner and super friendly staff. It looked very small from the outside but was surprised it accommodated a good amount of people. We got a breakfast burrito with bacon to share and pancakes with egg and bacon/sausage for the kiddos. The food its top notch, the service needs a little work. First visit over the weekend for breakfast with the family and the food was really good. I had the divorced omelet. The chile colorado and chile verde were both good, nice heat and a lot of flavor. Hash browns were well cooked, toast was good as well. Really enjoyed the meal overall. The service on the other hand needed a bit of help. The kitchen was terribly slow, we waited almost an hour for the food. One thing I did notice was that the table behind us and to the side of us were approached by the waitress who told them the kitchen was behind and they offered to bring them a plate of biscuits and gravy on the house to hold them over until their meals arrived. We were made no such offer and didn't even get an explanation or anything about the delay. I'd eat there again for sure for the food but I hope the kitchen is running a bit faster on my next visit. read more

My goodness was that chile verde and colorado AMAZING!! The chicken fried steak might have been off that day because everything else was great. They have good portions and good tasting food. This is a great mom and pop place to visit for sure. Since it's a mom and pop don't expect beauty.
