This place needs to be on everyone's list for breakfast! Amazing food! Amazing service! Super chill inside with the server spreading joy and conversation that just makes you feel at home! I ordered the Costillas en chile roja con nopales with eggs and hash browns on the side... O. M. G. This dish had SABOR! Our server (maybe the owner?) told us it was her mom's recipe and even brought a sample of the chicharron in the same salsa. Wow! We will definitely be back for more home cooked meals! This is a must try people!

Walking into Donna Kaye's Café feels like arriving at a family party warm, welcoming, and instantly comforting. Yes, the space is a little tight, but it's filled with care and attention in every corner. As soon as we were seated, we were greeted with coffee and given time to look over the menu. There were so many great options that I didn't know what to choose! I ended up ordering the omelet with both red and green pork, and my date went for the chilaquiles with the same combo. The meat was tender, flavorful, and tasted like a true family recipe. I also ordered a Michelada, and the mix was delicious. The staff was incredibly kind, and it seemed like most of the guests were regularwhich says a lot about how loved this place is. I definitely recommend Donna Kaye's if you're looking for homestyle food that feels like it was made just for you.

Excellent service and food. This place fees like an old southern diner. We went around 9am and there were 5 other customers but was packed by the time we finished, with 10-15 people waiting outside for a table. Definitely recommend!

Great little place. It brings back memories of days gone by. We had the chicken fried steak breakfast. Delicious. The gravy was on of the best I've ever tasted next to my moms. Stuffed toast was a real surprise. Fresh fruit inside that was ripe. The bacon was crispy like I ordered and the eggs were perfect. I like how you add your own salt and pepper. There was enough food we have another breakfast tomorrow. Highly recommend you try this sweet spot. I don't drink black coffee but their coffee was that good

My service was fast and good. My food was better. Too much to eat it all, eggs were cooked to perfection. Biscuits and Gravy was good, but I waited to long to eat it and it got cold. Loved the decor.

We went in Sunday afternoon. A party of five. It was packed inside and so we had to sit outside and keep company with the buzzing flies. The seating outside seems to be an afterthought, with hard seats and picnic tables. The service was great. Prices are high but I suppose that is normal since we are close to downtown Bakersfield. The food is that darned good. I had the veggie omelette and hash browns, good stuff. I also got a full stack of pancakes to share withy husband and son. My pancake was so good that I didn't even need syrup. This is a solid establishment.

Great Breakfast and Lunch spot. Cozy dining room. Friendly experienced staff, and tasty food options. Haven't had anything I didn't enjoy. Their secret pancakes with ham folded into the batter are a nice little indulgence. Variety of options and quality ingredients make them a nice locals spot to enjoy your Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch time munchies needs

Have been wanting to try this place since moving to Bakersfield and finally had the chance to stop by and so glad I did. Place is small but quaint and charming. Staff was friendly and helpful as they had many choices to pick from the menu. I went with the country fried steak and eggs with hash browns and biscuit and gravy. Everything was so flavorful and tasty and loved the gravy. Steal was cooked to perfection and eggs made just like I like them. Will definitely add this place to my rotation. Next time I'll have to try their French dip

I guess because it's a sports bar restaurant, and it's in Bakersfield. I got the shock of my life. It turned out, this was the best barbecue food I ever had. Not only that, but it's very affordable. I would say a bargain. I didn't have to spend 100+ dollars for 2 persons, like a lot of so called high quality barbecue restaurants. The briskets and ribs were amazing. Delicious, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. Sides were also delicious. The service was good too. You just go up and get your order. It took a little time, but the staff is helpful and friendly. I'll be back here again, the next time I'm in Bakersfield. Maybe I'll visit the Buck Owen's museum. Bakersfield is truly the Texas of California, although I've only been to El Paso, Texas.

There are a lot of tables and seating between the two rooms inside and the completely shaded outdoor patio, it doesn't look as big from the outside as it truly is. We went at the tail-end of lunch, and it was busy, but there were still a few tables open (I recommend making reservations). The Dish: I went with the pumpkin pancakes topped with pecan butter, plus a side of bacon. Fun fact: this exact dish was actually featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! Our waiter spilled an entire tray of iced teas and waters next to/on us, and then left to change his apron and serve other tables while we sat dripping and ignored for nearly 15 mins until I had to flag someone down to help us clean because my shoes were soaked through and the liquid river continued under our table (he handed me a few napkins until I insisted on an actual mop, which he obliged with an audible sigh). Someone finally put down a wet floor sign, and considering all the elderly diners they didn't seem concerned about the giant puddle in the walkway that went ignored. I don't care about the spill, but just apologize and clean up - don't disappear and then come back only to announce that you're going on break. The lettuce looked crisp and fresh and the fish was poking out of the sandwich which means good portions. But the fish was a bit dark, suggesting either old or dirty grease or cooked too long? Either way it was bland. I ended up having to douse it with a mixture of tarter, malt vinegar, ketchup and Tabasco sauce. NY steak was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, the kind of steak that really does not need much done to it because the flavor already speaks for itself. They served it with chimichurri sauce, which just was not exactly my cup of tea, but once I added Worcestershire sauce, it really brought out the flavor of an already all-star steak. The Chicken Fried Steak 'n' Eggs with hash browns was also very tasty Steak even the batter had flavor and definitely worth it. The chicken fried steak had that good comfort food quality to it, with a crispy outside, tender bite, and a savory flavor that worked really well with the eggs. The hash browns helped round everything out nicely and even the biscuits and gravy which im generally not a fan of was very good. Service from Holly, and I hope I got that right, was amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the visit feel easy and comfortable. Even the iced tea stood out to me because it tasted like the homemade sun tea I make every year by the pool, and that gave the whole meal an extra familiar touch. Overall, this was a very strong visit with a standout steak, a satisfying breakfast plate, and excellent service.
