I ordered the loaded breakfast burrito to go and if I was to rate the taste on its own I would give it a 4 out of five stars. The tortilla was a bit tough in spots, but the chunky salsa was great. When I rate food at restaurants I will also base some of my ratings on portions. I spent $16 on one of the smallest breakfast burritos I have has in town. After my experience years ago at Donna Kaye's I was a bit disappointed. I rated the chicken fried steak breakfast a 5 out of 5 stars, not just on portion (it was huge), but on value and taste. I will go back for the chicken fried steak, which I think is one of the two best in town, but I will stick to that. read more

Found this place on yelp half way en route to our weekend trip to Yosemite. Party of 7. We arrived at 7:50am and got seated right away. By the time we left at 9am, the whole place was packed. The ladies that served us were so sweet as well. My husband and I ordered the meat lovers breakfast burrito, green chile verde chilaquiles, and a side of pancakes. The chile verde here is amazing! My wife and I ate lunch here and the food was fantastic. My cheeseburger was absolutely delicious and juicy and fresh. The french fries are cooked perfect I used to eat here a lot years ago with my father and my grandfather for breakfast and I always remembered the food was really good. I'm glad I stopped by here. We felt like diner food for lunch and headed over to Oak St. It was a cool, blustery day and fish and chips sounded good. My wife ordered hot tea. There is plenty of food here. We went in Sunday afternoon. A party of five. It was packed inside and so we had to sit outside and keep company with the buzzing flies. The seating outside seems to be an afterthought, with hard seats and picnic tables. The service was great. Prices are high but I suppose that is normal since we are close to downtown Bakersfield. The food is that darned good. I had the veggie omelette and hash browns, good stuff. I also got a full stack of pancakes to share withy husband and son. Chicken fried steak seemed precooked/warmed over and a bit shriveled/dried out. The mashed potatoes were too runny/instant, weren't firm nor fresh made. Gravy was very hot, plentiful and good. Our 2 meals and 1 drink came to about $57, more than I care to pay for a so-so meal quality. We did have great service and tipped accordingly. Probably won't visit again anytime soon. read more

It looked very small from the outside but was surprised it accommodated a good amount of people. We got a breakfast burrito with bacon to share and pancakes with egg and bacon/sausage for the kiddos.
