This was my first time having breakfast at Cope's Knotty Pine Cafe, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the eggs breakfast with ribeye steak, hash browns, and a pancake for $21. The food was delicious overall. The hash browns weee a little soft, though I could have asked for them crispy. They also offered homemade salsa, which isn't spicy but adds a nice depth of flavor. Service was excellent-the waitresses were very friendly and kept the coffee coming. The diner was packed with a small line out the door, so I recommend arriving early if you want to be seated promptly. Overall, an excellent experience with fair pricing. read more

I have been in Bakersfield for 32 yrs now, I am 40 and this was the very first time coming to this place. I honestly can't believe it took a horrible experience at a new establishment to finally bring me here. Customer service is a 10/10 Coffee is a 10/10 Cobbler is a 10/10 but I will say I enjoyed the blackberry cobbler so much more. My baby had the Chicken and Waffle 10/10. The waffle has a similar taste to a fresh waffle cone, so you don't need so much syrup. Double bacon cheese burger with veggies on the side was ordered by my teenager and I must say this is one of the BEST BURGERS BAKERSFIELD HAS TO OFFER! The fries were seasoned perfectly and the meat tasted so fresh, plus the bacon was cooked to perfection 10/10. My big boy ordered the hot links, eggs with county potatoes 10/10 We ordered over medium and they did not disappoint. We arrived a bit late because the biscuits were sold out, so he got some french toast instead 8/10. I ordered the county fried steak which I was amazed on how delicious it was and the gravy was great 10/10 I also received country potatoes and eggs 10/10. Bakersfield has resturants that offer country potatoes but unfortunately most places fall short, this place is on point with their seasoning. As you can tell by the pictures my kids left happy and full. This place is so welcoming and the interior is cute, plus their restrooms are super clean. Excellent diner with fast and friendly service. Drinks arrive almost immediately after you sit down. Even with a full house, food comes out of the kitchen in about 15 minutes, which is impressive. Be careful when ordering the Double Cheeseburger -- it's enormous! The patties seem bigger than half a pound each, and the amount of meat is truly impressive. Good customer service first of all. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. My daughter liked their pancakes and the Wife kind of liked their fish and chips (French fries). My chicken fried steak was just a plain steak that had no flavor at all and the gravy was cold. The hot links and bacon were good also. Iced tea tasted weird so did my daughter's pink lemonade, yuck. The eggs were amazing. The hashbrowns were good. The country fried steak was good and my opinion it taste like meatloaf, but it was delicious and the peach cobbler was so good too. I ordered Eggs Benedict. Perfect hollandaise for the Benedict's. Potatoes were crispy. My husband had the hot link breakfast with Lonnie potatoes. He loved SPICY. It was heaven. We shared the French Toast. Omgoodness, lots of food. Great coffee. The seating is tables and booths. Space is a bit tight, but everyone is focused on their family and enjoying their space. They are open till 3pm FYI. I got myself the Denver omlete with Lonnie's hashbrowns and it was a MASSIVE portion of food considering the price. I honestly couldn't finish my plate, too much!!! My meal was a 10/10, just phenomenal. My wife went with a grilled Tereyaki Chicken Sandiwch and she swears it's the best chicken Sandwich in town lol. Overall, do your life a favor and come here. The girls are always friendly and work their butts off. They're attentive to large parties and keep the vibe upbeat. I was in town for work and was looking for a nice breakfast place before I flew out. I came across this cute place on Yelp, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. This was a great choice! When I arrived there was a wait, and the parking lot was full, but because it was just myself I was able to walk in and get seated immediately at the bar by the nicest host. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage and I chose breakfast potatoes and a biscuit with gravy. This was So much food, but everything was delicious. To start off the breakfast potatoes were awesome. They had the perfect texture, perfectly seasoned and there were a lot of them. The sausage was also fantastic, it was perfectly season and I think it may be made in house but I'm not sure. Either way it was very good. My eggs were perfectly cooked and my biscuit was so flaky. I've never heard one complaint about the food or service. There is a small town feel to the place, the decor is very much that way. The staff is prompt & friendly even though they are very busy. They have a quite extensive menu of breakfast & lunch items. Breakfast is served all day. Their lunch menu looks excellent as well. I'll be back soon to try it out. What I like is that they offer many individual items if you don't have a big appetite. I order a biscuit with gravy and a side of sausage. They had the chicken Verde under the burrito topped with shredded cheese that hadn't melted yet. The hash browns in side were filling but I wish they were crunchier I had asked the hostess for a mix of sweet tea and unsweetened tea. She was considerate enough to ask if I wanted that more or less sweet. I said less sweet and with lemon. She brought it to me with 2 lemon wedges and it was perf. Our waitress was friendly attentive and enjoyable she explained the extensive menu and answered all of questions. Our coffee were kept full and waters refilled without asking. When we pulled up, the parking lot was full of local Bakersfield PD, so we knew it was going to be a good & filling meal. Walking into the restaurant you get a quirky & vintage vibe. There's hardwood everywhere, from the tables to the booths. Lots of milling tools and memorabilia were hung up along the walls, and local business cards & ads tucked underneath vinyl table covers. It was giving IYKYK energy and I loved it. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and warm. I ordered a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a generous helping of biscuits & gravy. The sausage patties were flavorful and had the right amount of spices to complement the butter-cooked eggs. The biscuit was fluffy and pillowy, perfect to dunk into the delicious gravy. After hearing how great this place is I finally decided to give it a try. I took some family from out of town figuring it would be nice to go somewhere I've never been so we could all be surprised. My first impression was that it was much bigger than it looked from outside. I liked the log cabin feel of the restaurant and the staff were friendly when we walked in. We were quickly seated in a booth by the restrooms in the back. This place reminded me of how Pappys use to be, clean! I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and all the vintage pictures and items. It made me feel like I was thrifting. After perusing the menu, I decided to try the California omelet with a pancake and country potatoes on the side. The omelet was good but I did not like the potatoes. I always order country potatoes over hash browns because I don't like when the hash browns aren't cooked in the middle. I like my potatoes cooked all the way through and when I ordered them I asked the server to make sure the bell peppers and onions were cooked well but I guess I also should have mentioned to cook the potatoes. In her defense the veggies were cooked to perfection. The pancakes were tasteless and I only took a few bites.
