Live music outside ( make sure to check when these events happen )
Laura G.

This is the SPOT TO BE ! We enjoyed the live music that was provided today by the owner . Heather does an amazing job with her fun events and I'm a huge fan of how she uses mom and pop shops within her restaurant. This has become our favorite go to eating place .

I always seek out restaurants that serve organic and/or farm to table food when I travel and was excited to check out Locale. I ordered take out but would have been happy eating inside or outside if I'd had more time. They have a great menu and it's a cute little place. I had the Kale and apple salad and it hit the spot! I'd recommend the place if you're looking for good, locally sourced food.

Amazing experience at Locale Farm to Table Eatery, the food was excellent, very fresh and amazing presentation. I chose the All American Burger and it was amazing. The staff was very kind and complementary appetizer was a great touch! Ambiance was awesome, I would recommend this place.

Juice of the Day

Stop here for lunch before heading back to Orange County. I was instantly greeted and told to sit anywhere. The atmosphere of the shop was cute, lively, and inviting. The workers were attentive and efficient. They provided a sample of the Juice of the Day and sourdough toast with cranberry butter (both delicious). I ended ordering the juice, fried mozzarella cheese, and the bacon and fig burger with French fried. Everything was delicious, and I would recommend to anyone coming to Bakersfield!

Well done. Over achievers ! This place has mid century vibes. Excellent service. Amazing food ! You will feel welcomed like into someone's home. Food is perfection. The samples of juice, the complementary toast and pimento cheese started everything off! We had a burger with fries. And chicken and waffles. Guys, this was next level in flavor and care. Not ordinary food. Carefully chosen ingredients and amazing medley of tastes to what could have been ordinary. I can't wait to come back and try all the other items on the menu.

Farm-to-Table with Purpose | Bakersfield, CA Being a 10-time Stage 4 cancer survivor, I'm still learning and growing every day--especially when it comes to choosing clean, fresh, farm-to-table food over the poison. This is exactly why this place matters. I had the pleasure of trying the Sweet Potato & Brussels Sprouts paired with tri-tip, and it was absolutely amazing. You can truly taste the freshness in every bite--simple, real ingredients prepared with intention. This is farm-to-table done right: nourishing, flavorful, and deeply satisfying without trying too hard. Beyond the food, the experience is just as special. Heather and her team make you feel like family from the moment you arrive, and that kind of care shows up on the plate too. Already planning to come back for date night, and grateful to support a place that aligns with health, heart, and community. Excited to be a part of this journey we all get to call Life LIFE Live In Faith Everyday

Had a quick bite before we head up north Found this gem, quick service, good food Delicious fries. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Ordered turkey bacon melt, added grilled onions

This is now one of my favorite spots in town. I like how they use good ingredients in their food! The food is well worth the price. We got the bacon and fig burger + sweet potato and brussel sprouts bowl. Both were delicious. I can't wait to come back to try other items on their menu.

We almost walked by because we thought it was closed but my friend and I tried the door and it was open. We were greeted by a kind hostess and sat down. She brought us some freshly baked sourdough with spiced butter. It was perfect. I got the Pecan crusted Salmon with mash and Brussel sprouts. My friend got the Caviar burger with onion straws. Everything was delicious. This place got packed while we waited for our food. Families, couples, and friends all came in for dinner. They have local items being sold on a large open cabinet. Each table is set with candles so it really sets a calm mood for dinner. We really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and staff. I can't wait to come back.

Went in for brunch, the menu is the same but they do serve some spritzers, so you know I was there. The best fresh squeezed juice in town! Whether you get it in the spritzer or not, it's worth! The sweet potato and Brussels sprout bowl, amazing! Avocado add on is a must, the egg is cooked perfectly to order. All the ingredients here are top tier and it really shows, the dishes are designed smartly and you can tell effort goes into the offerings. No espresso, sadly. But yes they have cold brew and french press coffee. Doesn't appear to be freshly ground that morning and consideration into procurement of a better quality coffee would yield a better outcome. I know, I know, it's from 502, but weird coffee people know what's up. The service is slow, seriously, don't bother trying to have a place to be when choosing this as your dining establishment. Knowing this, we made no plans, and took our time. But the service could be more attentive and frequent. I love the dining area and the have a back dining room that is very artsy. They have little offerings from local artisans, sage bundles, incense, etc. I think the outdoor area could use a little love. Tables are undersized, making the experience involve a lot of rearranging of plates. The chairs are tired and need replacing or repair, seriously the backs are so loose. I'd consider putting a hook or two on the support posts for people to hang their jacket, purse or bag. Is there value? At roughly 42.00/person for breakfast, coffee and a spritz, I think it's just "fine" and maybe improved service or some small improvements to the dining space would justify the price point. Really this is a 3.5ish for me. But giving 4, because of the great taste.

Went for a quick bite. Ambiance was great, nice and calm and we instantly felt comfortable. The service was amazing. We were greeted by a friendly server who was very helpful, given it was our first time there. The server gave great recommendations and I was happy with all of the food ordered.

Came here with the bestie before heading to the Old Dominion concert. This was our first time here and WOW. The food is absolutely delicious! She tried the salmon with these amazing Brussels sprouts from their dinner menu of the night (idk what sauce they were in but OH MY GOODNESS, some of the best Brussels sprouts I have ever tried!) I tried the Tri-tip melt from their regular menu and holy cow, that thing was bursting with flavor! We walked in and were seated right away, our server was super helpful and very nice. The vibe was nice and quiet, and even after it filled up (shortly after we came in) it was still easy to have a conversation. I will definitely be back!

To begin with, an endearing atmosphere, minimal but inviting. Our waitress was very nice. We were given a complimentary dish which was delicious. I had been meaning to come to Locale for ages but it's hours of operation did not mesh with my schedule. Until today, that is. I took my husband out to lunch on a whim and we were delighted by what we discovered here--rustic, unpretentious good food. The prices are reasonable and portions are decent for the prices. We cannot wait to return.

She comes from LA so we meet halfway. She is so nice and so friendly. She really won my heart! This is the second time we meet in Bakersfield. I had this place saved for a while now so I was excited for the visit there. We got there and they sat us almost right away. They have a cute lobby before the entrance to the restaurant. There is an old telephone booth and Christmas decorations. Johnny brought us the menu and it was the lunch menu. I saw on line that they had some great food for breakfast and Te-see asked him about it. He told us they were still making breakfast so I got happy. I ordered a coffee with cream and he brought it in a little tray with the creamer on the side. The table was a little wobbly and the coffee spilled all over the tray. Luckily Te-see got that fixed with a sugar packet. Jonny brought me another tray with coffee and cream. Almost everything was plant base, some egg and chicken but definitely no red meat. Unless I didn't see it. So I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my daughter the Happy-go-Lucky-bowl. Te-see got the torta española and slew got a pancake to shared. All the food came very fancy well presented. Almost like magazine perfect. I loved them. We were taking videos and pictures as we should like a truly Yelpers that we are. Haha! The food was so tasty and flavorful. I loved my chilaquiles. They were perfect for my palate. They were crunchy and still with the flavor of the sauce. So delicious. They came with a little bowl of beans from the olla. (Freshly cooked) Te-see mention that her torta española was great as well. It came with some green salad. And it did really look so good. My daughter got the Happy-go-lucky-bowl. I was surprised she liked it. It was so beautiful presented. Sorry I already mention that. But yes it was pretty. There was berries melon, pineapple. She said it was really good and filling. She couldn't finish it. The pancake we order to share was so healthy made with all the good grains like chia, hemp seed, brown rice, oat flour. So good. It had some bananas and berries on top. Really delicious. I want to go back again just writing about it. I may go back and order different things from the menu. The bathrooms are very clean. Also maybe restaurant is part of the hotel

NY steak was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, the kind of steak that really does not need much done to it because the flavor already speaks for itself. They served it with chimichurri sauce, which just was not exactly my cup of tea, but once I added Worcestershire sauce, it really brought out the flavor of an already all-star steak. The Chicken Fried Steak 'n' Eggs with hash browns was also very tasty Steak even the batter had flavor and definitely worth it. The chicken fried steak had that good comfort food quality to it, with a crispy outside, tender bite, and a savory flavor that worked really well with the eggs. The hash browns helped round everything out nicely and even the biscuits and gravy which im generally not a fan of was very good. Service from Holly, and I hope I got that right, was amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the visit feel easy and comfortable. Even the iced tea stood out to me because it tasted like the homemade sun tea I make every year by the pool, and that gave the whole meal an extra familiar touch. Overall, this was a very strong visit with a standout steak, a satisfying breakfast plate, and excellent service.

The steak was thin so it pretty much was all well done apart from the center being slightly pink. Such a disappointment. Country fried steak was one of the worst I've ever had, super dry, could have done with more gravy. Ordered drinks with less ice, glass came full of ice like an ordinary amount but went the wrong table at first. The restaurant was dirty. Needs sweeping as there was dirty tissue under our table before we entered but instead staff are cleaning the glass panels between the tables that aren't as dirty as the obvious tissues on the floor. Are they hoping the decor draws eyes up away from the dirty floor? 2 stars for the retro decor.

I had the sliders with veggie sticks and they were delicious. I was excited to see something besides just chips offered for sides. The seating space is ample and the night we were there, there was music. I was actually pleasantly surprised the music wasn't super loud and echo-y and we could still enjoy conversation. When we made the reservation, no one told us that the restaurant operates as a self-service setup. We assumed, like most places that accept large reservations, that there would be some level of table service. Instead, the table was basically just a place for us to sit and eat. If we wanted drinks, we had to go up to the bar ourselves to order them. When it came time to eat, we had to leave the table again and go up to the front counter to place our food orders. No one came to the table to take orders, check on us, or even bring water. We ended up having to get water ourselves as well. What was most frustrating was at the end when I went to pay the bill and was told that an automatic 20% gratuity had been added because we were a large party. I completely understand adding gratuity when a staff is actively serving a large group taking orders, bringing drinks, refilling water, checking on the table, etc. But in this case there was essentially no service provided. Everything from ordering drinks, ordering food, and getting water was self-service. If the restaurant is going to run this way, that's fine but it should be clearly communicated when a large group makes a reservation, and automatic gratuity for "service" that didn't happen doesn't feel appropriate. We come to Bakersfield twice a year and after this experience, I don't think we will ever be back.

That said, I'm a pretty vocal person, and when I saw the portion size that came out, I spoke up. I let our server know that the portion felt a bit small for what we expected. She handled it very well--she was calm, respectful, and apologized, which I appreciated because it clearly wasn't her fault. Alejandro, the owner, came out to speak with us, and I have to say, he's a genuinely great guy. He was open to hearing feedback (what I'd call constructive criticism) and took the time to explain their approach. He mentioned that their portions may appear smaller because the food--especially the rice--is more compact, and that their beans aren't watered down like at some other places. I can respect that explanation, but I do have to disagree. At most restaurants, we usually leave with leftovers. In this case, I found myself still eating off my girlfriend's plate, and we didn't have anything to take home. That said, I really respect that he came out personally to talk with us. That level of customer service goes a long way. To be fair, their buffet is unlimited, and that's something I highly recommend. Every time we've come before, we've done the buffet, and this was our first time ordering a regular dinner. Honestly, the portion size surprised me compared to what we're used to. I did make sure to tell Alejandro that their food is better than most restaurants in the Bakersfield area--it's truly top tier. We'll definitely be coming back, but most likely for the buffet, where portion size isn't an issue since it's all-you-can-eat. I also want to highlight the customer service. That's something many restaurants struggle with, but they got it right here. Our server was respectful and handled the situation professionally, and Alejandro didn't have to come out and address it personally--but he did. That kind of effort makes a difference. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend coming during brunch for the buffet experience. The food is excellent. I do think increasing the dinner portion sizes would make the experience even better. Thank you again to Alejandro and the staff for being respectful, attentive, and willing to listen. We'll definitely be back--especially for brunch.
