Honey I'm home was recommended to me by one of my friends previously in the foster community so I decided to give them a try as they support local foster youth primarily through its partnership with Covenant Coffee, a Bakersfield-based non-profit. By serving their coffee, the restaurant directly funds a comprehensive support system designed to break the cycle of abuse and neglect for emancipated youth. The location is kind of off grid but easy to find, once I walked in I found the location to be very clean and welcoming. The parking lot behind the building 2/5 stars looked a little shady so I parked as close as I could to the front as I wasn't sure what would happen to my vehicle behind the restaurant. I ordered the pork chop meal with two eggs over medium and Country potatoes and my coworker ordered the chili ready omelette hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The pork chops meal 3.5 /5 stars were large and juicy but cooked well eggs were cooked over medium perfectly, as I like them this way and the hash browns I ordered extra crispy like french fries and they did a good job doing that. Next the chili verde omelette 4/5 starsand hash browns extra crispy and the biscuits and gravy my coworker said we're all very good as The Omelette had enough meat and the chili verde was not too spicy but had a slight kick. If I had one complaint it would be the pork chop,Country potatoes and hash browns had very little to no seasoning. I'm not sure if it is a dietary thing as most of the customers in there were retirement age easily, luckily I just recently retired and also there was hot sauce and ketchup on the table, which and prove them perfectly. I had a conversation with the customer who had gotten the chicken fried steak and the mirror size of it was enough to feed two people and the customer said that it was one of the best he had eaten in a long time so if you get a chance go try the chicken fried steak as that will be my next meal When I visit another time but I'll definitely share. The mature waitress 5/5 stars whose name I forgot I promise I will get it next visit ) was very sweet and sat us immediately as soon as she had finished serving another client or coffee she was an absolute sweetheart and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Overall a good location good country dining ambience and a great waitress to boot.

Honey I'm Home is an east side gem. It's inside an older breakfast joint and they've been here for a few years now. I believe they're still getting their design down, while trying to hold down the fort. You'll be greeted by one of the waitresses and on a weekend you might have to wait just a bit but it's worth the wait. They have some great specialty items and some good signature items too. Service is on point and their coffee is brought in by Covenant Coffee, a local coffee maker. I believe for their different breakfast and or lunch selections you get what you pay for and there's no way you'll leave hungry, if so that's totally on you. My usual is the bacon and eggs, where they have a thick cut peppered bacon. Eggs seem to always done just right. More pictures to follow because I know we will be here in the future. No matter what side of town you live in, this place is worth the 15-20 minute drive. Hope everyone can get the same experience we have had and hope to see you at the next one.

Sausage patty w hashbrowns, chocolate chip pancakes & a side of bacon (the best)

Really sad I'm no longer living down the street, hands down the best bacon & crispiest hashbrowns. I've tried so many things here unfortunately didn't get pictures everytime I came but just know the bacon cheeseburgers & their sandwiches are some of my favorites! their fried catfish is also pretty good! My go to breakfast is always the sausage patty with over easy eggs with hashbrowns & sourdough toast, so good! Service is always good even when it's busy, only a few times we had to wait a while to get our check but they were understandably busy. Can't wait to go back! also love that they have old Price is Right episodes playing

This place is great and very busy for a Wednesday morning. We got the chicken fried steak, which was huge and very tasty, the country potatoes that were very flavorful, and the biscuits and gravy with rich flavor and soft bread. I also got the waffles and eggs. You can definitely taste the quality of the food. My only suggestion would be to invest in better seating or add some padding to the existing booths haha it might still be Cindy's original seating.

I'm convinced chicken fried steak is my true love language. If it's on the menu, I'm ordering it--no questions asked. This morning, I may have found the best one in California at Honey I'm Home Diner. The only reason it's not tied for #1 with Wise's Circle Grill in Dallas is because there was no fried okra or collard greens to seal the deal. But sweet mercy... that chicken fried steak was life-changing.

hello last weekend we visited honey. I'm home for breakfast. After an awesome Valentine's Day, I treated my family to a breakfast here. The food was absolutely amazing.!!!!!!. visually everything looked great. The portions here are insane. if you are really, really hungry I consider this the spot for you. Inside this place is very inviting and it has a nice fresh clean feel to it. We will be frequenting this spot for breakfast in the very near future.

French toast.

Phenomenal service. A little slow but you don't go here for a quickie. You go here to enjoy the atmosphere (great song selections) and the company of family or friends. On this morning I ordered their Hit Lit Chile Verde Omelette accompanied by country potatoes and thick sourdough toast. Chile verde was perfect. What I noticed first was the generous amount of verde sauce. Potatoes were red mixed with bell peppers and onions. Very good. My wife had the French Toast Combo and it was also very good. Can't wait to come back and try out the lunch options.

Doctors orders omelette, added bacon...SO GOOD. With an upgrade to biscuit and gravy instead of toast.

We decided to come here for a family breakfast this morning. Our food was delicious with more than generous portions. The kids ate their breakfasts, but the hubs and I have plenty of leftovers for each of us to have breakfast tomorrow, too! Our server was sweet and attentive. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy even though it was fairly busy. My oldest daughter and my husband tried their caramel cold brew coffee; it needed a little bit of sugar but was overall very tasty and refreshing. We will definitely be back! All our food was so flavorful.

Service was really good! Their sandwiches were really good but that and my coffee is all I really all i enjoyed flavor wise. The chicken fried steak was huge even the half order but lacked flavor and seasoning in my opinion. I really enjoyed my coffee which they use covenant coffee which I love them. The place was really busy and we came on a Wednesday afternoon around 2 which I love seeing a local place doing well. I think we just ordered the wrong items but we want to come back to try it again.

Half order Chicken Fried Steak

WOW !!! We've heard about this place and just never made it over until this evening and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and attentive. The food is flavorful, and exudes a feeling of comfort. The half order chicken fried steak is enough for two or three people. The stuffed mushrooms are loaded with flavor with artichokes, Parmesan , spinach, and crushed red pepper. We already are planning on coming back for breakfast.

We've been to this place a few times and it delivers every time! The staff are extremely personable and friendly. Come to find out, the owner was our waitress! I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries and it was one of the best burgers I've had in town yet. Both times we've gone, it's been packed inside and outside! Nice and cozy inside with a cool outdoor vibe as well. The is a gem on the east side and I highly recommend! Both breakfast and lunch menus are great.

Excellent place to eat. I am very picky about my eggs and these were absolutely perfect. My husband had the sausage patties and eggs and he said it was great. I highly recommend you come hungry because the portions are large. The service is great, we were greeted with a smile and checked on frequently. Great restaurant. Comfortable atmosphere. We will be there again

Kids pancake breakfast

Stopped into honey I'm home and it was a nice dinner. I took the kiddos and they enjoyed some pancakes and I ordered a Cobb salad with ranch. The restaurant was very cozy and felt like home, they had older shows playing & some older tunes playing too! The waitress was super friendly and kind. The food it was good, but my only hang up was with my salad the lettuce had a bitter taste and looked like it might have been browning a bit too. Overall I will be back to try it again.

NY steak was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, the kind of steak that really does not need much done to it because the flavor already speaks for itself. They served it with chimichurri sauce, which just was not exactly my cup of tea, but once I added Worcestershire sauce, it really brought out the flavor of an already all-star steak. The Chicken Fried Steak 'n' Eggs with hash browns was also very tasty Steak even the batter had flavor and definitely worth it. The chicken fried steak had that good comfort food quality to it, with a crispy outside, tender bite, and a savory flavor that worked really well with the eggs. The hash browns helped round everything out nicely and even the biscuits and gravy which im generally not a fan of was very good. Service from Holly, and I hope I got that right, was amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the visit feel easy and comfortable. Even the iced tea stood out to me because it tasted like the homemade sun tea I make every year by the pool, and that gave the whole meal an extra familiar touch. Overall, this was a very strong visit with a standout steak, a satisfying breakfast plate, and excellent service.

The steak was thin so it pretty much was all well done apart from the center being slightly pink. Such a disappointment. Country fried steak was one of the worst I've ever had, super dry, could have done with more gravy. Ordered drinks with less ice, glass came full of ice like an ordinary amount but went the wrong table at first. The restaurant was dirty. Needs sweeping as there was dirty tissue under our table before we entered but instead staff are cleaning the glass panels between the tables that aren't as dirty as the obvious tissues on the floor. Are they hoping the decor draws eyes up away from the dirty floor? 2 stars for the retro decor.

The rib was probably the best of the meats. The trip was okay. The food is buffet food so I don't have really high expectations. For a traditional family style buffet I would give the a 3.5 on the food. They had a great selection on salads made in house. The meat guy recommended the broccoli salad and I tried it. It was pretty good. It's been at least 15 years since I've had broccoli salad. That did not disappoint. My wife liked the good variety and selection, and the fried chicken was pretty good. My son liked the apple cobbler and their homemade peanut butter cookies. The service was exceptional. Everyone working there was pleasant and friendly. 5 of 5 for service. The atmosphere, the design and theme was very appropriate, although dated it is still very welcoming and appropriate for the venue. With that being said, the carpet was filthy and the upholstery was warn and old. It looks dated and tired. They can keep the overall theme and look, but give the restaurant an updated facelift of sorts. The seasonal decorations were nice. The store gift shop sold miscellaneous items including some of their baked goods, so that was cool. The lighting needs to be updated. That would really enhance their atmosphere. The bathrooms. You can learn a lot about a place from the bathroom. These weren't filthy per se but the floors were pretty nasty. It always grosses me out when my shoes stick to the tiles. The fixtures were on par with a lot of the restaurant, old, dated, and tired. Formica countertops? A lot of these design elements just need to be polished up. I think this is a great part of the Bakersfield community, but I think it's been a bit neglected. It's probably family owned for a while and the kids or whatever have gotten complacent with the business. I'm not saying it is poorly ran and the positive experience with their staff can attest to that. But they can use some freshening up. Tip to owner, I didn't see any take out happening during my visit but in today's food retail market, take out is HUGE! Especially with the Holiday season and football games etc. I have a feeling you are missing out on some of your local market. Reach out if you want a more detailed discussion. Bakersfield is poised to grow and i hope that you are poised to grow as a local business as well. I'm glad we stopped by on our way back to Sacramento.

They even had a whole little gift shop filled with adorable bear-themed goodies like baby clothes, tiny bear boots, teddy bears, and so many cute items that made the place feel extra cozy and unique. My brother highly recommended the steak and eggs, so I decided to trust his judgment and I'm glad I did!
