We loved this place!! The service was above and beyond, and the inside of the restaurant is just adorable like a fifties diner. The food was fresh made from scratch and reminded me of my grandma's cooking. We decided to have breakfast for dinner. We ordered the chickenand waffles, cowboy potatoes, eggs and biscuits and gravy. My grandson had hot chocolate and I had a bloody mary, both were delicious. The fried chicken was the best fried chicken that I have had in many years. Margot was our server and she answered all of our questions. I asked her about their clam chowder and she said, let me bring you both a sample, so that was really nice and let me tell you that clam chowder is wonderful, soooo good! We can't wait to go back and try some of their other menu items and some of their specials!

I haven't felt well all weekend, so making breakfast did not sound like fun after sleeping in. So I decided to bring my girls with me to Milt's for breakfast this morning. We were seated right away, even though they were clearly busy. Our waitress was super attentive and provided great, fast service. The restaurant was clean and had a cherry vibe. Our food came out fairly quick and was delicious. We placed a to go order for my husband that came out with the check, so that was perfect so it was nice and hot for him when we got home. We will definitely be back, the four of us ate for $65 before tip, and the three of us had drinks other than water! I'm so glad they decided to change this place back to Milt's!

This place is a little off of the beaten path for us, but when in need of a "big salad" like Elaine from Seinfeld, you go where you need to go. And since it's open on a Friday night, it fits my "no cook Friday" plans. The staff is super friendly and the menu is basic diner with a few extras, including monthly specials. I like how it's old, with the counter in the center of the room and a bar, feels nostalgic. I am giving 4 stars, because some nights the food is just so-so or sub par and sometimes it's awesome. I feel like it depends on the cook. I swear last time they served me some re-fried fries! Sad, but true, and my friend got a rather soggy chicken fried steak. Try to keep improving on consistency in the kitchen and this place will be golden!!

The staff is always nice. The interior has been updated as well as the exterior The have outdoor seating that has a private ambiance as it is closed off from the surrounding area I love their basque soup it's basically a vegan soup if you've had cabbage soup this is similar just added potatoes. It's so good one of the waitresses recommended it to me and I've been enjoying it since that day. Great vegan option My husband had the steak and eggs $30 He said the steak was so very well seasoned and tender.

I'm giving a generous four stars in light of what this is: an old-school diner. My husband was quite happy with his cod, crunchy mixed vegetables, and rice that wasn't over salted. My turkey sandwich was a bit on the blah side. The fries were nicely seasoned, though. The place looks very clean, and the manager was quite accommodating for our takeout. They missed my online order request to swap out the cheese on the sandwich, though. In short, if an old-fashioned diner is what you're looking for, this is a good choice, but it's definitely not upscale dining.

Milt's did not disappoint today, the food was great and the service was on point. These pictures I took do not do it justice but this is definitely my new favorite spot. The vibe is also super chill I highly recommend you to visit this place

The French toast was great for breakfast.

I want to Milt's for breakfast. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. I was created by a very friendly server. My apologies but I forgot her name. I had the French toast. It was a nice serving size in the meal was cooked to perfection. I was very happy with my meal and I would recommend them.

    Turkey dip
    James Y.

When I looked on Yelp's app, I saw chicken pot pie but when I got there it wasn't on menu. I saw turkey dip which I've never seen before. Similar to beef dip but with turkey and grilled onions and turkey au just. The fries were very crispy and hot. The sandwich was made with Pyrenees roll which is a local 100 year old bakery. The turkey was real not the processed kind. The au just was a little salty. The place reminds you of an old diner with booths for sitting. Wild, the waitress asked where I was from and her mom lives like 1 block from where I live.

Great food and service was top notch! Go to place. Place was clean as a whistle. A go to before and after a day at famoso!

Ahhh Bakersfield ..Bakersfield is my hometown and I will always celebrate it because it's where I came from. The restaurants still don't disappoint .This place used to b called Milts .and the service and food are still so wonderful ,if not better I would say ! The service is really impeccable ! I have came here several times when visiting. My parents .I've had lunch and breakfast here ,both are outstanding ! Today , I had a pancake , sausage patty and egg ,typical diner b-fast :-)! The pancake is huge and I ordered off of the lighter fare menu .which is. A bit cheaper and also not so heavy . $14 buys you a pancake .egg , and sausage . My server was friendly and aware .Margo , my server was so nice and had a smile on her face :-) she was lovely

Killer Kern Omelette with Biscuit and Gravy
    Tanya L.

We hadn't visited this place in a long time so we thought let's go. As we walk in we were instantly greeted and seated. Our drink order taken and we got complimentary banana bread which was delicious. On this visit my husband ordered the Killer Kern Omelette with biscuit and gravy. Food was full of flavor and very delicious. The potatoes were cooked and seasoned well. The biscuit and gravy were homemade and very delicious too. It just melted in your mouth. I had the chorizo and eggs with beans, potatoes and tortilla. I loved the beans so tasty and just the right amount of salt. The chorizo was good too but just a little greasy but it is chorizo and that's what you expect anyways so it wasn't a big deal. The tortilla was a burrito size which I didn't expect but loved this option. Overall food was good and service was amazing and it was pretty quiet in there considering it's a week day. Staff have always been friendly which is a plus.

    The American omelet is it.

When we walked in we were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we wanted. It was pretty empty but got busier as lunch went on. About 8 minutes after we sat down, Karina (our waitress) came over. She was very friendly and brought us some rosemary lemon waters and a complimentary appetizer of butter-toasted sourdough with an onion garlic spread. I enjoyed it a lot and it was definitely a nice little touch. For the first 10 minutes though we were wondering where the menus were until we realized you have to scan the QR code on the little card that sits on the table to look at the menu! Ha, It would've been nice to have that mentioned when we sat down, but once we figured it out, it was easy. The place is pretty chill. Good verity of music playing. Atmosphere felt lively, lots of chatter as background noise, large windows that let in a lot of natural sun light so it feels open and inviting. They also brought out a free sample of their strawberry fresca, which was super fresh and refreshing. Not too sour nor sweet. We both ordered the Western burger with onion rings and sweet potato fries. Also had to get me one of those fresca's and my hubby got a coke. 25 minutes later our food arrived, and man did it look phenomenal! The burgers are stacked high, patties were thick, juicy and cheesy. The buns all glistening, and it was super saucy, just beautiful and well presented. Lol. Fries and onion rings come in cute little baskets and pots too. The beef tasted so clean and buttery! Completely melt-in-your-mouth awesomeness. Very gourmet and high quality. The bacon was perfectly cooked with very little fat and had such a rich, clean flavor and was just really done well. Quality top notch for sure. The onion rings were unlike any I've had before. They weren't super crispy, more soft and tender, but the flavor was so good it didn't even matter. They were huge and the batter was savory and seasoned well. The texture kind of reminded me of a funnel cake, soft with a little crisp.. very different from your typical onion ring. Their chipotle aioli ranch paired perfectly with them too. (My left over onion rings reheated to crispy perfection in the air fryer the next day!) The sweet potato fries were also really good and had sauce drizzled over the top. My husband mentioned it would've been nice to have some extra sauce on the side for dipping, though. Paid about 68 in total with tip. Not bad. Overall, we really enjoyed everything and are looking forward to coming back.

Yes, we were basically on dirt roads that saw a few scattered homes here and there, and visible old school phone towers (the brown kind) connected with wires (where crows sit on a row) existed, and not much else. We drove around in some circles, looking for this fabled store and found nothing, not even a Bigfoot. We noted how the moment felt like we were on an Iowa highway because we saw expansive fields and experienced a Middle-America atmosphere. I wanted a small stalk of wheat in between my teeth. As we drove, we saw this place and decided that this joint would replace the store we were looking for. At this point I started to listen to Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If you know, you know. As soon as I entered I felt like I had stepped into a diner in the middle of nowhere, the type of spot where brothers talked about saving people, hunting things, you know the family business. My friend Denise did not know what I was talking about and when I tried to introduce the world to her with corny prompts she decided not to play along. Still for a fan the experience was nothing but a win!(chester). I cannot remember the person who helped us but she was a server who reported that she had lived in the surrounding area for most of her life. She was deepening the believe that we were on a route diner neglected by city reality. During this visit, I had fried okra for the first time in my life. It was weird to taste but not in a bad way. More like I had never tasted this texture before in my life. The texture that I had not tried before in my life was a gooey vegetable. Like the texture of the outside was exactly as advertised--- fried goodness. The actual okra was the gooey part. I do not want to sound crass, truly, I do not, but it did feel like enjoying something slimy, and I will leave it at that. Again, not wrong, just weird But I will not get it again. The server- the homegrown one- gave us fried pickles and these were much more to taste. Like, I i have had fried pickles before and I loved them but I had some that were not for me. But these, these, were pickle spears fried to brown goodness, and the mixture hit green- which does not mean go, more like Hulk enjoys, instead of smashes. It was a simple dish yes- green spear pickle fried but sometimes the goodness of a county fair is exactly what a roadtrip snack should be. The fair came to my table and I am not mad at that. On this trip I did have the Willow Dip which I feel is a close cousin to a french dip. What this place did well, at least I think, is putting it on an onion baguette. I am not sure if onion baguette is a middle-of-nowhere bread, but, I allowed it because the taste of the bread was, like tailored made for me, I am a sucker for onion, and not just because it gives me sexy breath. The food was standard, solid fare. Everything was just good nothing wrong with it, all good with it. The sauces were tasty, and added smoky sweet flavor that was welcomed. So this elevated the dish by addding a hickory taste. It did not save the dishes, but did make them better. The decorations were texas heavy. I should have taken more pictures. But sometimes the imagination allows for a space to feel more than at it is.

We passed the Firefighter Monument that my husband tends that commemorates the firefighters killed in the Spanish Ranch fire, and checked out the growth of some oak trees around it. We pulled in for an early lunch at the Buckhorn and got a nice booth near a window. We were waited on immediately and provided water and a new menu with more of an emphasis on breakfast dishes. It was early lunch for us, and I ordered my favorite "Breakfast Salad," a Cobb salad, which has bacon and egg in it. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich, a specialty of the place. There was a delay getting the wine menu, and my first choice had run out, so I tried a white that was close to a Sauvignon Blanc from a local vineyard. I had spied some very authentic looking apple pie coming in, and we ordered a slice for desert. It came with a couple of scoops of creamy ice cream, and had a sure-enough baked through crust with juicy, cinnamony apples inside! On the way to the car, we noticed a local rancher "branding" the building, by pushing his heated up brand into the front wall of the restaurant where many other brands appeared. The paint smoked a bit, and when he was done, a spade appeared on the facade, "Spade Ranch," he told me, literally making his brand relevant to the cafe! This time we tried the croissant sandwich, the sunshine breakfast plate, and the French toast combo. When the French toast came out I was worried at first. It didn't look like it was cooked well enough but I was so wrong...it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I was most excited about being able to order turkey bacon though. My daughter said her sandwich was good and my husband said his pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and potatoes were great. This place has some great food and I will continue to go and try something different every time.

It's not a shock that this is one of the TOP places to eat on Yelp's Central Valley - South list. You'll immediately notice Scrambled's Yelp award at the check-in table. Here's why they have an award: Upon arrival, you'll notice Bakersfield locals come here. We waited about 20 mins as it was quite full inside and we arrived during a Saturday morning (on Valentine's Day). All sorts of guests visit, families, couples, seniors etc. I overheard the regulars say there's excellent mimosas here, I didn't try them but they looked good. Each patron had something positive to say and had a fun little story about their visit to Scrambled. As for my meal, my Mom and I both got cafe de olla which is essentially a Mexican blend of coffee with a hint of cinnamon. Fantastic! Next, I knew this place was known for its Mexican breakfast AND scrambles, so I decided to try the best of both worlds. I ordered a chile verde scramble. The flavor was really good, everything felt homemade. The meat could've been slightly more juicy, but everything worked so well I didn't mind it. The ambiance was moderately noisy, yet relaxed. I got an authentic cafe vibe here as my Mom and I were able to hold a conversation without having to raise our voices. My Mom said she got an authentic Mexican cafe vibe, I can see it! Everyone was super sweet and professional, I felt right at home.
