Food was amazing and place is charming with an old school diner vibe which was refreshing and nostalgic for me as I grew up back in the day going to places like this: the menu has a wide assortment of food and everything we ordered was delicious. Place is small so may have to wait a bit but worth the wait. Service was excellent. Definitely will come back again

So far I have had the BEST Bloody Mary ever! The service for a Monday at 9 am is prompt and courteous. Our waitresses, yes waitresses were amazing. Marks coffee never went cold and we were always asked if we were ok? The food was amazing. I haven't eaten here in a long time.

Had the pleasure of going to 24th St., Café this morning at 7 AM. Even at 7 AM the cafe was filling up fast, lots of regulars from the downtown business community, I knew a few. Many devoted retirees that show up regularly, they've been enjoying the cozy small town atmosphere for decades. Our waitress Holly was another part of the reason to visit. She was outstanding. The 24th offers an extensive menu with delicious full plate generous servings all are delicious. I enjoyed their homemade biscuit and gravy, light flaky fresh biscuit paired with the best gravy in town. One biscuit is all I needed. All our orders were brought out promptly our coffee and waters were kept full. It's probably been a year since I visited the 24th St. but it sure won't be that long before I come back

3.75* Was in town for the California State high school wrestling tournament. On our last morning in Bakersfield we decided to take it slow and have breakfast before heading out. I love breakfast, I love dinners, and I love history. This place ticked all the boxes. Before arriving I was sure it be jammed packed because it was a Saturday morning. Luckily we arrived right before the post church rush. Got a table right away. My initial reaction was a positive one. The atmosphere was old school dinner without feeling rundown or outdated. It still kept its charm though. Server was super hospitable. Coffees and water came to the table ASAP. I ordered the tri tip omelette and biscuits and gravy (these are always a must have at dinners for me). Omelette was good, stick to your ribs, and what you think of when you're thinking old school American food. Biscuits and gravy were really disappointing. The biscuits on their own were super dry. No problem I thought. That's what the gravy was for. Somehow when I poured the gravy over the biscuit it didn't absorb into the biscuit like I figured it would. So I was eating a thick and clumpy gravy over dry biscuits. We also ordered a short stack to try the pancakes. Also, very disappointing. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, but also super dry. Not very moist, even when drenched in butter and syrup. My last gripe was that a very strong bleach smell lingered in the air. So much so that my water and pancakes had a bleachy taste to them. My wife thought that was a positive because she equates that smell with cleanliness and sanitary practices. One other thing she noticed in keeping with the cleanliness topic was that none of the condiments bottles and dispensers had any dry crust around the rim. Overall my experience was more on the positive side.

This is a must stop for breakfast when in Bakersfield. Service here seems always hit and miss and today was a miss. Decided to get a chorizo scramble which would have been great provided we got the food when it came up and had silverware when food came. Otherwise, food was good.

Oh my, this is our new favorite breakfast place to eat! First of all, the service and the decorations are great! Second, the food is amazing! We ate here twice in one week! And I'm not ashamed! lol My husband had the chicken fried steak both times as that his just his go to and he loved it! First time I had their tri tip omelette with hash browns and a biscuit and gravy. It was fantastic! The second time we went it was right around 12 noon and the sandwich of the day was their homemade pastrami! I had to try it and I was not disappointed! It was delicious! It was served in a soft roll with Swiss cheese and au jus on the side! And I got the garlic fries. I really wanted to get something so I could get a biscuit and gravy because they are so good but my hubby shared his lol so ai was a happy girl!

One of the most reviewed places in Bakersfield! There was a bit of a line when I came around 11:50 am for a late brunch! I got the Spinash, Feta Cheese, & Tomato Omelette with Mushrooms (for no extra charge), Cajun Chicken Breast Sandwich, and a White Russian drink. Loved loved everything, especially the omelette! The white russian was also really good but it is strong! Really glad to have spent brunch here as it's been on my list for awhile now.

Everything always goes well at 24th Street Cafe. It can be a little tricky to figure out the access if you're new, but not impossible. There have been adjustments over the years, especially with the car wash next door. We typically park on the street and approach the front door through the east side parking lot and front sidewalk. There are chairs lining the sidewalk in case it is busy and you need to wait your turn. We were lucky today and arrived around noon when there was only a small wait. They have heaters, so during this brief time in Bakersfield that it is actually chilly, we were well cared for. I do prefer an inside booth, but there really is a lot of seating inside and in the patio attachment. There really isn't a bad seat. After we were seated, we were tended to right away with drinks and getting our order. 2 of us had the French Dip sandwich. One with Garlic fries and the other with Albondigas soup. I ordered the portobello omelette with hash browns and a biscuit with gravy. I had to take most of this home (very large portions). I love their gravy!! Also...ask for salsa. It is delicious and perfect for your eggs. Refills were always timely and the iced tea was spot on. There are a lot of great breakfast, brunch, lunch options on the menu. You would be hard pressed not to find something you will enjoy. Happy brunching! There was a small issue with the men's bathroom sink not working. I'm sure they will be tending to that.

Located in almost-downtown Bakersfield, this local cafe seems to never not be busy. (Be prepared to hunt for parking spots.) One of the only restaurants I know of to serve Pumpkin Pancakes YEAR ROUND, there is guaranteed something for everyone on their expansive menu. Their servers are tenured and friendly and seem to know the "frequent flyers" by name - a testament to the loyalty of locals to this little cafe.

This place never disappoints. Local, hot, fresh, and delicious. The ambiance on the patio is so easy going and lovely you'd hardly know there is a freeway just beyond the barrier. Service is always on point. The servers are friendly and attentive, the coffee is tasty, and every bite is exactly what you'd want from a quality diner. I am in heaven every time I visit. I love you, 24th Street Cafe.

Premium ham and eggs and I asked for the potatoes "crispy" which they drop in the deep fryer.

You always wonder if the place is gonna match the reviews... this one did! Such a cool little spot with a traditional food counter and booths. The service (Sunnie) was so good and friendly and the food was great like, homemade great! Big menu but they don't skimp out. We will be back next time we pass thru Bakersfield.

The rib was probably the best of the meats. The trip was okay. The food is buffet food so I don't have really high expectations. For a traditional family style buffet I would give the a 3.5 on the food. They had a great selection on salads made in house. The meat guy recommended the broccoli salad and I tried it. It was pretty good. It's been at least 15 years since I've had broccoli salad. That did not disappoint. My wife liked the good variety and selection, and the fried chicken was pretty good. My son liked the apple cobbler and their homemade peanut butter cookies. The service was exceptional. Everyone working there was pleasant and friendly. 5 of 5 for service. The atmosphere, the design and theme was very appropriate, although dated it is still very welcoming and appropriate for the venue. With that being said, the carpet was filthy and the upholstery was warn and old. It looks dated and tired. They can keep the overall theme and look, but give the restaurant an updated facelift of sorts. The seasonal decorations were nice. The store gift shop sold miscellaneous items including some of their baked goods, so that was cool. The lighting needs to be updated. That would really enhance their atmosphere. The bathrooms. You can learn a lot about a place from the bathroom. These weren't filthy per se but the floors were pretty nasty. It always grosses me out when my shoes stick to the tiles. The fixtures were on par with a lot of the restaurant, old, dated, and tired. Formica countertops? A lot of these design elements just need to be polished up. I think this is a great part of the Bakersfield community, but I think it's been a bit neglected. It's probably family owned for a while and the kids or whatever have gotten complacent with the business. I'm not saying it is poorly ran and the positive experience with their staff can attest to that. But they can use some freshening up. Tip to owner, I didn't see any take out happening during my visit but in today's food retail market, take out is HUGE! Especially with the Holiday season and football games etc. I have a feeling you are missing out on some of your local market. Reach out if you want a more detailed discussion. Bakersfield is poised to grow and i hope that you are poised to grow as a local business as well. I'm glad we stopped by on our way back to Sacramento.

As any true Yelper would, I was excited to scope it out since it was my very first visit and honestly, this place immediately won me over. They even had a whole little gift shop filled with adorable bear-themed goodies like baby clothes, tiny bear boots, teddy bears, and so many cute items that made the place feel extra cozy and unique. My brother highly recommended the steak and eggs, so I decided to trust his judgment and I'm glad I did! The steak was juicy, flavorful, and nicely seasoned, the hash browns were extra crispy exactly how I like them, and the sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and homemade. I was also pleasantly surprised by how affordable everything was. We placed a pickup order over the phone, and the entire process was super quick and convenient. The workers were all very friendly and polite, which made the experience even better.
