The service has noticeably declined. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disengaged, which made the overall experience feel rushed and impersonal. This is very different from how it used to be 5-7 years ago, when we came regularly and the hospitality was a big part of why we kept returning. Today was my son's birthday, and we chose this place specifically because of those past experiences. In the past, the staff would acknowledge celebrations and make it feel special. Unfortunately, that didn't happen this time--no recognition, no effort--which was disappointing given the occasion. Only got an ice cream. What stood out most wasn't just the missed birthday moment, but the overall lack of warmth and attentiveness. It felt like customers were just being processed rather than welcomed. It's unfortunate, because this used to be a place we genuinely enjoyed and recommended to others. Based on this visit, I wouldn't choose it again for anything meaningful. It was my first time visiting spencers café. Let me start off by saying that it was consistently full. I arrived just after 7 AM and I got one of the last tables. The entire time that I was at this establishment the tables were consistently being filled With new customers. The staff was very welcoming we were seated quickly and given our menus and our drinks arrived in a timely manner. There are plenty of breakfast options on the menu including vegetarian options. I ordered the combination skillet which came with a side of toast or biscuits and gravy. I chose the biscuits and gravy and was definitely glad I did. My combination skillet was a very hefty portion it came with my choice of two eggs on top I went with scrambled it was full of flavor had plenty of meat and potatoes and definitely left me feeling full. My wife on the other hand ordered the Santa Barbara omelette she only ate half of it Because if it's hardy portion size the only complaint that she had was that the tomatoes that they used inside of the omelette were a bit sour and could have possibly been going bad. She's not one to return food to the kitchen so she simply just picked them out of her omelette and enjoy the rest of it. If you are looking for a place to eat that feels like home cooked meals this is the place. The waiters are very friendly and on top of serving you coffee. Overall the service was very good and I do love how they treat you like family even if it is your first time there. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in town. I've been going here with my mom so long that they know our order without us having to say it. Even when I come in with the hubby, they ask how my mom is. I personally love the Swedish breakfast. You get potatoes (I like country style) eggs, bacon and sausage, and Swedish pancakes. You can get strawberry or Marion berry or one of each which is what I do. The pancakes are thinner like a crepe and rolled up. So good! The place is quirky with funny signs everywhere but also cozy. Farah is my favorite sever. They are all great though and make you feel welcome. read more

Always trying new breakfast spots, found Spencer's while on a camping trip nearby based on Yelp reviews. Small but cozy. Friendly and courteous staff. I had the chile verde skillet (nice little kick, tender pork, loaded with cheese) and the wife had sausage, eggs, side of biscuits and gravy. Everything was very good and was served very quickly. A cute lil Mom and Pop style country diner. The place seemed small because it was packed (on a TUESDAY morning!) but when we were seated we did not feel crowded at all. The staff is really friendly. We felt immediately welcome, and were seated almost immediately. The wait staff had friendly conversations with the guests, and really seemed to enjoy working there. The food came out quickly, and the waitress's checked on us often. Food: I had the Border skillet. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and well seasoned, the hot links and tri tip were chopped pretty small and mixed in well with the fajita style veggies. The skillet is medium spicy because of the hot links, not the green chili. The guacamole was great, nice touch for the skillet. The biscuit was light and fluffy and the gravy was perfect, nice amount of sausage flavor. My brother had the Mexicali omelette and said it was good. Eggs were nice and fluffy, everything well seasoned. Only problem he had was with the meat portion. The omelette had just a few bits of finely diced tri tip...he was expecting slices. We waited about 30min after that for a full rack of ribs (sharing) fries and potato salad for the ribs to come out frozen inside slapped with bbq sauce on top. Absolutely horrible experience. Food here is always great! But don't go to eat anywhere near closing time!! We arrived around 12:40, took awhile to get our food which was fine. The issue started when we began eating and someone decided to mix up a extremely strong cleaning solution right behind our table. I had taken one bite and was overwhelmed with the smell!! And honestly could not breathe! I was coughing and covering my nose and mouth with my napkin. The waitress (I won't name names) walked by me three separate times and refuse to look at me or ask if everything was okay. At this point I got up and went outside. My husband packed up our food, paid and made a comment. Which was answered with "I have no idea what you're talking about " Ruined my lunch!!!
