'D' checked on us regularly without rushing us to order as we caught up. Now that they have their beer & wine license (Yay) They are always busy thanks to great service & elegant food offerings. I would recommend reservations on busy nights. They have a limited offering of wine and beer but good pairings with their menu. My companion ordered the Shrimp & spicy fried rice. The flavor was yummy although a bit too spicy for my companion. I thought it was delicious but it does have a little kick. The shrimp was succulent and the rice was beautifully prepared. I've been to Lunas a handful of times since they have opened and every single time it's been a great experience. Actually last night was the 2nd time I've been there this week. The food is top tier. It's not your average restaurant. I'm not sure where they picked up the chef but woah! Every single dish is so flavorful. I've tried the steak tacos, spicy pasta and last night I got the honey salmon. And so far that's the best salmon I've had in Bakersfield hands down. My son took me out for lunch, I was so happy he picked this spot! Our food as excellent and the drinks were delicious. There are a lot of tables and seating between the two rooms inside and the completely shaded outdoor patio, it doesn't look as big from the outside as it truly is. The decor is really nice and earthy with tons of real vine plants, a mix of fake, cute mirrors and wall decor, and cool basket lighting. We went at the tail-end of lunch, and it was busy, but there were still a few tables open (I recommend making reservations). I ordered a raspberry drop (not overly sweet so I loved it) and my son ordered a triple berry hibiscus refresher, it was so good! For lunch, he ordered the garlic+parmesan cream pasta with chicken and not only was it scrumptious, but he had enough leftovers for another meal! Another stop after a long day of traveling. Hubs found Luna on a search and the menu sounded good, so we stopped in for a late dinner. The space was quaint and quiet, nice after having been in the car most of the day. We both ordered drinks and meals. I jad the spicy chicken marinara, hubs got the garlic confit chicken. While the pasta was good, it was far too spicy for my liking. I could only finish about a third, which was fine, as it was quite filling. The restaurant itself is really cool, the atmosphere in there, it feels like an upper scale place. The food was delicious. I had the spicy pasta with shrimp, they aren't kidding when they say spicy it definitely had a kick, I really enjoyed it. My main dish was the creamy jalapeno pesto penne (add chicken). The portion is huge and you will definitely be going home with leftovers. I wouldn't say the dish is spicy even though it says jalapeno in the name. It has a really nice balance of cream and freshness of the pesto. Finally made my way out here with my husband and son and the first thing that catches my attention is how cute it looks inside. This is definitely a nice spot with a lot of variety of items to choose from. I was unsure what to get, but I saw they make gobernador tacos, so I had to get them. When they brought out my son's dish it looks like the right amount for a $24 dish, but my food was $18 and my husband's was $16 and the portion of the rice and the beans actually looked like a child's serving. If I had ordered this meal for take out then I believe it would not even fill up the compartments in a to go container and my husband's sliders did not come with a side item. I don't mind paying for our meal, but the prices are very high priced for the amount of the serving. The food was good and I would definitely advise to come check them out for your own review. I pass this place at least 2-3 times a week to pick up for work nearby, but I don't know if I would come back. If I was invited to check them out with friends/family or an event then maybe I would check them out again. They have a good variety of foods and they seem to have something for everyone. The only thing I would say and it's not a complaint, but that there was no spice in the rice still super flavorful and I didn't even ask for hot sauce because it's that good even without the spice.
