I had a mango chamoy margarita, while my husband got a roasted chili cucumber margarita on the rocks. His drink was SPICY! I ordered the shrimp fajitas and my husband ordered the chicken and steak molcajete. Our food was brought out super fast! The portions - humongous! But the food is so good! My husband is super picky when it comes to Mexican food, and he said this molcajete is his favorite so far compared to other Mexican restaurants we've been to. Big menu, but I honed in on the mixed seafood fajitas that came with a side plate of beans, rice, guacamole, pico de galli and with corn or flour tortillas. Everything in the sizzling plate was good but the octopus was way overcooked , so it was like chewing a piece of leather. Scallops and fish were small, but the shrimp were cooked to perfection. My husband had the shrimp poblano enchiladas. He raved about them, but managed to pick on my shrimp and peppers. We had Fried Chicharones as a starter appetizer and they were pretty good. Still sizzling when they reached our table. Overall, I'm going to do a 4 rating and this is largely due to the overcooked octopus in the fajitas, as well as the bay size scallop and small fish. So delicious! This place has the best shrimp cocktail in town. They have an amazing happy hour menu that you can have at the bar. Most things are between $7 and $10 so I scored today! I popped in for a light and quick dinner and sat at the bar. I ordered a Bloody Mary ($7), shrimp cocktail ($7). And mini quesadillas with frijoles puercos ($10). They're happy hour is from 3 PM to 7 PM. Usually, there's plenty of seating at the bar and that includes, the bar counter as as well as some high top tables. The staff is very friendly and professional, and they are always so accommodating. The service is quick, including coming around to clear away dishes. I definitely recommend this place. Decided to go here during my lunch break on a Friday and despite the time, there was minimal wait time. The interiors were nice and amazing. I like how there were different levels inside though the restaurant doesn't look that big on the outside. We ordered our shrimp dish (of course!) and one serving was good enough for two. It was flavorful and shrimps were cooked the way I liked them to be. Of course had to have the guac after a good experience in their other location and it was as usual good and tasty. Service was okay, not sure if they were short-staffed when we came. This place is always a hit or miss for me. The atmosphere is good to get together with friends and a drink and some food but the food is sometimes a let down. The drinks are usually decent which keeps this place on my radar and the service is usually friendly, so I do keep it on my list for others who enjoy it here. Tonight I had a cucumber margarita and I ordered the Los Arcos Nachos on the appetizer menu as my main dish. The drink was good as always, my nachos were forgettable, way too much greasy cheese, although I love cheese but it felt way too greasy and heavy. The nachos had shrimp and fish on them and that was literally it. While I can appreciate basic nachos this was a no for me. But it was a pleasant night and good company so I am sure I will be back and will just try something else on the menu. read more

No horchata available, so we had to skip on that. about 5 tables got seated after we ordered our meals. We were given another round of chips since we had been waiting a long time. Then we start seeing all these tables, that had been sat after us, already receiving their food. During this time, which was about 30 minutes, we had not seen our server at all. When we finally found her, she stated she would check on why everyone that was here after us had already gotten their food. She stepped away to the kitchen and came back in less than 1 minute with our plates. So our food must have been sitting there. We start to eat and of course the food is COLD! We are looking for our server and again she's nowhere to be found, so we ask for a manager. When he approaches our table, he looks visually irritated. We let him know the food was cold. He makes no comments, just reaches down to the table and grabs the plates and walks away. Our server comes back in about 3 minutes with the replacements. Looking online for a new place to try, I found La Costa Mariscos an interesting option. The restaurant is in a historic brick building called the Ice House. It serves hacienda-style Mexican food, and the menu is rich with fish and seafood. When I got there, the place was packed. The hostess asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar, and I said yes. I had no idea what to order, so I asked the waitress, a charming young lady, to suggest something. She hesitated, so I asked for her favorite and assured her I was not a picky eater. She suggested something Colorado; I am unsure if it was Chili Colorado or something else, but I wanted it with the "steak" option, not chicken. While waiting for my meal, I looked around. The building is spacious and fascinating, and the interior is colorful and friendly. My lunch was so delicious, and I was so pleased that I ordered one to go. While waiting, I indulged in my favorite Mexican dessert, flan! I left the Ice House with a full belly and fully satisfied with my choice. After patronizing this restaurant for at least 20 years, and having a relatively good established relationship with the owner, we were taken aback by her caustic attitude toward our group on June 6, 2022. It was an extremely busy night for the restaurant, and after waiting almost an hour just to be seated without complaining, after ordering, we were all about to faint from lack of nourishment and casually asked the waiter how much longer it would be for our food to arrive? Next thing we know, the owner is at our table, vehemently protesting our assumed complaint about where our food was! WOW! We were so shocked by this irrational and uncharacteristic behavior, we were all speechless, except for one member of our party who finally was able to get a word in during her rant that she had checked and we had not yet waited the full 20 minutes???? What? Twenty minutes to get our food? How many people ever wait that long to get food at a well-known established restaurant? So, this member of our party looked sternly at the owner and said in Spanish, "Just let us be and let us eat our meal in peace." With that, she turned and stomped off indignantly while we were astounded...and not in a good way. Who would be? Honestly? Tell me...would you? As a result of this most unfortunate, unacceptable, irrational outburst against our party, we have never returned to LaCosta Mariscos - after over 20 years of patronization. Isn't that a shame? That someone who knows you for that long a period of time would behave in such an unacceptable, rude manner, instead of apologizing for the lengthy wait? We just couldn't figure it out, and we have not been back for fear of being mistreated again. Who in their right mind would go back to any place where they were so blatantly and unacceptably mistreated? These days it seems that bad behavior is the norm. On the road - in the doctor's office treated like trash by mean medical assistants with the 'God Complex' on a power trip who think they are doctors themselves...real medical doctors who do not listen to their patients because they do not have time (due to having to see more than 50 patients in a day just to make ends meet) because insurance companies are not paying decent amounts when billed...cancelling policies for no reason...and the list just goes on and on. **Update on 1/5/2024** I called the restaurant 3 times and Larissa finally replied today to resolve the situation. She reported that the server erroneously calculated the tip wrong and charged me the wrong amount. I asked her to charge my credit card the extra $0.01 that they didn't do right the first time around. This is an error that they needed to fix and she agreed. Glad this was resolved after 7 days since 12/29/2023. *** Below was reviewed on 1/4/2024 -- We recently came to this restaurant on 12/29/2023 for lunch while we were in town. Molcajete seafood is still delicious as I remembered it. What is odd was that I signed for $200 total for the credit card bill, but what ended up posting to my credit card statement was $199.99. That's essentially an unrecognized amount. Somehow the restaurant changed the dollar amount of what I had authorized, which seems very odd. I'm waiting for their management to call me back "Larissa Joya", as I spoke with Elida this AM to resolve this incorrect billing situation. The food is great! You just have to go enough to know what you like. The tuna is delicious! The servers are great, specially the bartenders. It had been a minute since we had been to La Costa Mariscos at the Ice House. This is such a unique building with big ceilings, multiple floors, and a wonderful brick exterior. The hostess seated us right away. If there is one issue with the local, it's the seats. We were in a booth with a wooden back that was just comfortable long enough to eat. If I were enjoying a long afternoon catching up with friends, I'm not sure I would be comfortable too long. They have a full menu, but when I'm in a place like this, I go to the specialty page. I figure if they take the time to put a plate on this menu, they are proud of it. My wife and I split the Arroz con Camaron. It did not disappoint. There's plenty of food here. Jumbo shrimp covered in sauce, tender and delicious. Add the flavorful salsa and chips, plus flour tortillas, and we left satisfied. All and all, this is a great place to eat! read more

Our wait was about 40 minutes without a reservation and I called ahead to try for 8 of us, but was told walk-in only. You can wait at the bar if you're of age. The inside is very big and colorful and the area I was sat was coastal themed. The service once sat was very fast for a full house. The dishes are varied for choice and everyone loved their drinks & food. They were accommodating for small dietary changes to menu items we ordered. The staff was attentive with refreshments with beverage refills and new drink orders throughout our meal. I will definitely recommend, even with the wait it was worth it. I have a mixed review here. Went with a party of 12 today and our food was not great. Just not the standard we expected for the pricing. I myself had enchiladas and sauce seemed from a can, with dry chicken. Also my sides were lukewarm warm instead of hot. Not what i thought would cost me $23.
