First time here and it was a good place. The outside was kinda plain, like were we at the right place. The inside was nice, lots of patio seating, and indoor seating. The air conditioning was nice and cool. They have a good happy hour. The drinks were also good, the meals were good. Nothing too fancy or overpriced. I would recommend eating here and would come back.

I visited this place for brunch with some friends and we were looking forward to the good vibes. I have mixed opinions about this restaurant. Some of the food items were hit or miss. The birria omelette, A Huevo Que Si, was absolutely delicious! I was already full but kept eating it because it was just soooo good. I ordered a cantarito for my drink and I loved it as well. The breakfast tacos however, were really disappointing. They weren't very hearty and overall just lackluster. In terms of service, we were overall dissatisfied. Our server seemed to be distracted and had to come back to ask us again what we had ordered for drinks. The food took a long time to come out and when it did, we realized that our appetizer had never been brought out. We called our server over and she admitted that she had forgotten to put that order in for us, so we ended up just telling her never mind. I would like to return and try different items from the menu, and hopefully receive better service in the future.

We had dinner, which was Amazing and I had Aguachile with the Margarita Flight! The service was excellent as always even with it being busy. There was great music and soccer was on. If you haven't tried it I highly recommend!

Have eaten here twice, both times were super good! First time was here for my moms graduation and they were very accommodating to a large part size, though it did take a while for the food which was understandable. They have a cute area near bathrooms to take pics which is fun, and the decor is pretty simple but nice. Really cool in there, wasn't hot at all even when it's busy. Second time I came with my mom for happy hour and our server was super nice, we got two drinks, and taquitos with nachos. Both drinks were recommended and super yummy!

Buena Vida Tapas Lounge is such a relaxing place for dinner! Went after a big exam and had a relaxing beer at happy hour. We got the street tacos, and fish tacos. This fish tacos are perfect! I will back for those tacos however the asada street tacos were not the best and I cant recommend them. But don't let the street tacos discourage you (im also picky about my street tacos). The waiter accidently poured the wrong beer so they just brought me both beers and that was perfect way to start me evening. The staff is great and responsive and beer is cold.

This place is such a vibe! We came in for brunch on a Saturday and it was busy! We were seated quickly tho. The staff is attentive and fast too. We were a party of 5 and order a couple of the Mexican paleta shots, those were so good! Also the horchata colada was really tasty. Food portions are huge. I ordered the tropical ceviche which has mango and only finished a 3rd of it. We also ordered the steak and shrimp skewers, pasta al ajo, and shrimp tacos. The hallway leading to the bathroom has photo ops and the bathroom was also nicely decorated. Had me feeling like I was back in Cancun :)

Went for happy hour and was not disappointed. Always looking for another to add to our happy hour rotation: Eureka, yard house, flame, Valle, etc and think we found one. All of the food was flavorful ceviche was fresh with a great amount of acidity. The service was friendly and efficient. Maybe only downside was there were several lights not turned on and it was quite dark.

Another fantastic meal at Buenavida Tapas. We enjoyed happy hour margaritas and appetizers, as well as two main dishes for the three of us. We arrived in time to catch a birthday and Sunday Night Football on the big screens with excellent service and a tasty meal.

The food and service was amazing. Unfortunately, we were unable to have a couple drinks. Due to the fact we were traveling. Definitely will recommend coming here.

Our third time at this spot at the old Chuy's. Decorations kind of modern Latin cookie cutter but a fun vibe. We liked our food and had fun. I liked the (spicy) Aquachile verde and queso fundido. My dad had the salmon a la plancha (I didn't try it but he liked it), I tried my mom's sopes de tinga it was "ok". We wished they had some more vegetarian/plant based options such as flor de calabaza, veggie enchiladas, more salads. My spicy mezcal margarita was really good! Our service was good; our waiter was patient with us deciding on our entrees and answering questions. Important to note this place is LOUD for dinner, both from the people and loud music. Not relaxing and hard to have a convo but it's super fun, good place for a fun dinner, birthday if you're not trying to have intimate convos, drinks at the bar with friends etc.

A mango and a guava margarita. Potato tacos.

Came for happy hour and left sad. Happy hour prices are great but hindered greatly by the abysmal service. We waited 30min before being served after being seated. Then between ordering drinks we had to flag the waiter down, who also kept forgetting what we ordered, after waiting another 30min. Drinks arrive and food preset was taken. Waited another 45 minutes before food. By that time happy hour was over and they no longer would honor happy hour pricing. Food was barely warm and tasted of soap. Lacked any real flavor. The drinks were good. Ambiance is kinda unique but feels somewhat slapped together. The chairs were uncomfortable and felt like they were going to break.

At the last minute, I actually had to move my reservation by 30min, so I called the restaurant and they were very accommodating, which I appreciated. Being a Bakersfield native I definitely wanted to check this place out being that I had visited Chase Bank prior to the vault taking over. I was absolutely amazed by the decorating on the interior. They literally left no stone unturned. Every single corner of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I do love the whole vault theme. It definitely just feels like you're stepping back in time. The food was fantastic. On a Friday and Saturday night, they offer a prime rib special. The plate itself ran about $52. But it was well worth it. The prime rib absolutely melted in your mouth. It was paired with a beautifully baked potato. It was also served with a side of horseradish sauce as well as Au'ju, We also tried out the brussels sprouts appetizer. They were absolutely amazing. Flavor was spot on. And I would definitely recommend it if you're just wanting to try something a little bit different. Our meal also came with a soup or salad. My wife opted for the Caesar salad, with house made croutons which she said was great tasting. I opted for the soup of the day, which was an Italian wedding soup. Again great tasting everything tasted fresh and was piping hot.

You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.

The live entertainment was amazing--slightly loud at times, but the band had great vocals and played exceptionally well, creating a fun atmosphere. We started with, chips and salsa which were absolutely different in a good way next we had the Ribeye Sliders. You get three of them, which is practically the cost of a meal by itself, and they were very tasty. A great way to start the dinner. The onions on these were good, but they weren't grilled to my liking. I was expecting caramelized onions, and they were more like pickled white onions. Because of that, I'd give the sliders 4/5 stars. For our entrées, we ordered the Enchiladas de Mole and the Enchiladas de Camarón. My wife had the mole, and I had the shrimp (cameron) enchiladas. Both dishes were very flavorful and delicious. The only issue we had was that the mole sauce and the green sauce on the enchiladas were chilled or not even warm to the touch. Because of that, both dishes receive 4/5 stars. For my drink, I ordered the Isla, which tasted like a very strong piña colada. It was incredibly well made and easily a 5/5 stars. The highlight of the evening, however, was our server, Stacia. She was absolutely wonderful. When we received the check, we kindly mentioned that the only issue we had all night was the temperature of the enchilada sauces. We didn't bring it up earlier because we weren't sure if that was how the dishes were intended to be served, and honestly, it wasn't a deal breaker. Stacia was genuinely concerned that we had an issue and seemed surprised that we hadn't mentioned it sooner. I explained that I usually only complain if the food is horrible or if we've had an overall bad experience. Because of her concern and kindness, we were offered us dessert. I explained that I didn't really want anything because the meal wasn't bad--just not what I expected. Nevertheless, we were presented with the Citrus Cheesecake, and it turned out to be a very good cheesecake just the right amount and an good ending to the night. Truthfully, because of the one issue with the sauces, I probably would have still given this place 4 stars, but I likely wouldn't have returned. However, because of Stacia's courtesy, professionalism, and genuine care, we will definitely be back for another experience, and I look forward to hopefully updating this review in the future, with Stacia as our Server.
