Friend sat and was poked with a metal pick from a drink that some rude customer had let behind. Brought it up to the hostess and he apologized proudly and offered some snacks as an apology as well. As we watched a drink was prepared, placed under glass and smoke filtered in. So cool to watch. We got in just shortly after opening so we're able to catch a couple of seats at the bar and happy hour prices. Angel was our friendly and informative mixologist and Morgan Was delivering cocktails and seeing to everyone's overall well being. This place was pretty cool. Came here on a Saturday evening. It was pretty early for "going out". I'm old, so it was a good time for me. It actually worked out perfect because the place wasn't busy at all. So we got a great seat and as it got busier through the night, we had the perfect people watching seats. It is decorated super cute. Random looking couches and chairs arranged in sections and set up to be perfect for conversations with friends. Reminded me a little of the set up on "Friends" in the coffee shop. We had a waitress that was great. She kept checking on us to make sure we didn't need anything else. I noticed as the place got busy, she definitely got busy and it was a little harder to get her attention. But I didn't feel abandoned. The place has some really cool drinks. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and they brought it to him in a glass enclosure that they had blown a Smokey flavor into. I'm sure there is a fancy name for what they did, but I have no clue. I got a drink that was fabulous!! It tasted like a milkshake. Very dangerous!! I could drink many of these, back to back. It was so good!! We left when it started to get busy. The vibe at this place is not one you find in Bakersfield often. This is a really nice lounge. The drinks are creative, fun, and handcrafted. This was the last stop of the night for my friends and self. Luckily there was not a wait, and we were able to walk right in. First impression is that it's pretty small inside, but that's what I also really enjoyed. It wasn't over crowded. I really enjoyed my time here, and would like to come back and try a few more things off the menu. The drinks are priced above average for Bakersfield, but they are also pretty good. Foxtail Lounge is in all probability the hippest watering hole in all of Kern County bar none. The interior has a swanky, subtropical lushness of a cool, swinging lounge somewhere in an art deco hotel along Miami Beach.  This is NOT a place for singles since there are no high stools at the bar. There are only sofas placed throughout the large room. Bring your crew so you can claim the sofa or sofas. Décor is eclectic. Oriental rugs, but mostly trendy mid 20th century accoutrements.   Although there may be beer (pretty pedestrian) & wine, the featured menu is all about COCKTAILS. Large use of potions, infusions, fruit juices, even more savory vegetal essences.  Liquors used are diverse: Mezcal, Tequila, Gin, Vodka, Rum, Whiskey. This chic spot should also offer premium Japanese Whiskeys such as Yamazaki, Tenjaku, Kikori, Nikka, etc. on the rocks for  sophisticated, gourmet cachet.  Bubble of Rosa: Use of Molecular Gastronomy.   The waitress injects a huge bubble encasing grey white smoke into the rubid cocktail which bursts open releasing the contents onto the air when you take the first sip. It's a dramatic cocktail for the extroverted.  Sensations of sweet, slight acidic sour of Pamplemousse/grapefruit, Maraschino (mah rah skee noh), lime.  Touch of savory such as Jalapeño, red bell pepper herbal earthiness, toasted sesame seed nuttiness. The flavours are rich enough to make Bubble of Rosa a sipping libation appropriate for languid, elegant lounging.  Our party of 3 came on a Wednesday at 7pm so we had the place all to ourselves. This may be a perfect after work gathering place to let off steam with fellow work mates. No accompanying bar foods offered at this time which would be ideal to cater to the after work crowd.  Our waitress was accomodating, quietly welcoming, perfect for the class act space.  Piped music was pleasant, contemporary, urban sounds like Benny, Doja Cat.  However, Fridays & Saturdays must be jamming so a RESERVATION is "de rigueur". As our waitress said with a sad face that they had to turn away quite a few who didn't reserve.  4+ stars read more

Went here on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of drinks to cap the weekend off with. Luckily we went right at opening so there wasn't a wait. They have a nice signature cocktail list consisting of all liquor types, but unfortunately they only have one whiskey option. We had Tha Florida, Rose Clouds, The Lost Lady, and The High Tide. The drinks of course take a little bit longer, because they are handcrafted. Admittedly, the service was slow still. The atmosphere is upscale for Bakersfield, which is great. We visited last night with a few members of our local book club. I wish Id taken photos. I was greatly surprised to finely visit. It's a gem in the city, very classy look inside. Everything is clean well decorated and the staff was pleasant and helpful. I think we really enjoyed the seating and the music was at a great volume so we could all talk. I plan to revisit this place again, Bakersfield definetly needs more places like this. It was raining out and the gentleman was there with an umbrella such a nice touch. Wow what a great place. My adult children found the place and turned us on to it. Great relaxed vibe. Comfy couches, friendly server/bartender, soft rock music at just the right volume. And delicious drinks. We were so happy they welcomed us with open arms after being turned down by the Tiki-Ko brain dead bouncer because my wife (more than 65 y/o) did not have her driver license with her. It didn't matter that she had it on her phone as well her passport on her phone. It was raining and we were walking from a wonderful meal at Mama Roombas (see my review). This was my first time at Foxtail with 1 friend and I loved it. We made new friends due to the couch to couch seating arrangements and it was such a cool experience! The lighting was low, but there were candles and a neon sign that gave off a fun color. The drinks were sooo good and the servers were super friendly, as well as very quick to help us. I really wanted to love the Foxtail Lounge. TRULY! I have been following them on Instagram for quite some time and was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit with my partner and two good friends. We arrived early in the afternoon on a Saturday in order to beat the evening rush. Our friends had been there prior and indicated that when busy, it could be difficult to get service. So we made it a point to avoid this. We were seated in a great location in the far corner. Just one of two groups inside. The decor was perfection - it's obvious there was great care and attention to produce a chill Miami meets speakeasy vibe. Lovely plush couches and jewel tones for days. Even the menu seemed to be curated for those insta-worthy photos. Our server was the only bartender. We were attended to upon arrival and placed our order. It took some time to receive our cocktails, but. that's to be expected with the craftsmanship involved. Our friends arrived about 10 minutes after us and their orders were taken within 10 minutes. This is where things start to go south. Once we finished our cocktails, about 30-40 minutes later we began searching for our server. She was behind the bar making cocktails for the entire room. Which by now was filled with about 15 more patrons. No bar-back. No help whatsoever. Just this one server for 20+ patrons. One server to make hand crafted cocktails. Over an hour later and we were still waiting. We even tried to get her attention by making our way to the bar. But it was quite obvious she was overwhelmed and they were understaffed. To make matters worse it was brought to our attention that the owner was sitting in another booth and making no attempt to help this poor girl. After quite some time and a few groups expressing their displeasure, the owner came around to ask for our order. When we inquired the wait, he honestly stated that he didn't know and it could be quite some time with only one bartender. We gently indicated our displeasure and were met with little more than an excuse about it being busy. Look - I fully understand having staffing shortages - I get it. I bring my patience whenever I go out because some things are just not within our control. But honestly, what owner doesn't get behind the bar to assist? And if you don't have the staffing available you could, theoretically, limit capacity to accomodate. My hope is that this is being worked out and we came on a truly off night. One thing I would love to see with Foxtail is the ability to make reservations. We regularly frequent specialty bars across the country and many of these smaller places require reservations and limit each to 90 minutes. Reservations would certainly prepare a business to staff appropriately. With all this said, I am anxiously awaiting another opportunity to visit and give Foxtail the five stars they deserve. read more

Wow, finally, a lounge in Bakersfield. A REAL lounge. I was floored when I went in the door, and my jaw followed when I saw the menu. The drinks are the kind of thing that you can normally only get at an upscale joint in LA and I LOVE IT! I couldnt for the life of me understand why anyone would rate one star until I realized it's all folks who couldn't get in on packed Friday's. I for one am glad Bakersfield has a place that caters to professionals looking to unwind. Short version: perfect lounge atmosphere, awesome cocktails & superb standard drinks. Background music and ambiance is spot on. Prices are reasonable. Long version: In town, on business. This place just opened so had to check it out (usual haunt is a block away). First, the atmosphere is simply superb. Inviting, casual, and comfortable. I was warmly greeted with a bottle of water and a great list of special cocktails, many with fresh ingredients by the mixologist. I opted for the "High Tide" which was rich, creamy and spot-on with the menu description. So far, so good, but I wanted to see if they knew their stuff. Ordered a St. George gin martini, straight up, 2 olives. For a martini snob, they had it down: (1) cold glass, (2) poured it at the table so (3) it was FULL, and (4) there was no spilling! Liked the chill, caj music. And, NO TV's. Prices were reasonable, service was great.. Thank you! Overall, this is a great place to chill by yourself or with a group of your friends. Slept on place for nice cocktails! Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. The best value is trying one of their fishbowls which are made for two, so ordering two of them for a friend group of 4-5 is perfect and if you go on a night where they have specials, it's even better! The lounge seating is comfortable and classy so it's an excellent place for groups. The only drawback is that I sometimes wished the lighting wasn't so low so that I could admire the color of the drinks that were made.
