Hey this original hacienda grill is pretty decent second time I've been here this is the second time I had a good experience The food is always on point they have a little bar area it's not a real big establishment but the food has big flavor I definitely recommend this spot it's stuck over here next to a to Arby's and in front of IHOP right here on the old Pierce road or Buck Owens boulevard I had the fish tacos and I couldn't eat both of them because there was so much fish in one of them and so much cabbage and and rice man It filled me up just the one so it was worth the money I would definitely come back for the third time and give him another five stars read more

Such a classic Mexican style restaurant to try when in Bakersfield. This place has been here at least 50 years and the furniture is no much younger than that. But seriously, we were greeted promptly when we entered the building. We sat down for an early evening dinner and was met with a nice bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa had a nice kick to it and I found myself pouring it out onto my entree. For my meal I went for the rolled taco's trio because I had never seen that before. I am glad I did because the dish was very filling and delicious. It was delivered just as described, meat rolled into a soft flour tortilla, and stuffed with choice of chicken, asada, or veggie. I went for two steak and one chicken, accompanied with rice, beans, sour cream and guac. I ate half at the restaurant and the other half for a late night snack. Walked over here in the later part of afternoon to have an early dinner and cocktail after a long day at the show. We were immediately greeted and given the option to select our desired place to dine. Our hostess just happened to be our server too. Or maybe our server just happened to be playing hostess when we walked in. Either way, she's super sweet, very personable, and right on top of offering recommendations of the most tasty entrees on the menu. We ordered cocktails which were clearly free poured, hand blended, and not filled with excessive s&s mix. Just a nice mix and I'm ready to order another and my first one isn't even half finished. My dining companion apparently gives the thumbs up to the tortilla chips because I glance over and the basket is almost empty. Speaking of chips, the salsa is quite nice with its finishing bite. So far, nothing I anticipated. I ordered the short ribs because I've never seen them on the menu of a Mexican food restaurant and I really do like short ribs. I was forewarned that they were spicy but I give them two thumbs for the nice balance of spice. The Fajitas came with lots of steak and chicken, nice balance of flavor, and perfectly charred veggies -neither overcooked or underdone. Corn tortillas ordered with Fajitas were burn your fingers HOT. Only thing that could've made it better would be the addition of some cheese on the side. Highly recommend. First time trying Hacienda grill! Cozy little restaurant with an old school Mexican restaurant vibe, which I love!! Location is kinda weird but that's not their fault! Restaurant seemed clean and they have a cozy little bar with TVs for sports at the entrance! Pretty large menu but I knew what I wanted before I stepped foot inside! I ordered the usual 3 item combo with chilie relleno, enchilada and crunchy taco and wife ordered menudo and an enchilada! They gave us complimentary chips and salsa and the chips were warm and crispy and the salsa was good like 7/10 good! Our food came out surprisingly fast- not sure if that's a good or a bad thing?! My chili verde enchilada was delicious, the crunchy taco was good like 6/10 good, the chili relleno was also good like 6/10 good! Rice and beans were very good as well! My wife said the menudo was good and she liked her enchilada plate as well! They were on the way to a 5 star review but a bathroom trip before leaving knocked the last star off, wife said the bathroom was really dirty!! We gotta do better those kinda things can keep people like us from coming back and were actually not sure if we would based on that as well! Service was ok nothing great but not bad either! Being from Tucson, we are used to some really good Mexican food. We were just traveling through and this was near the hotel we were staying at, so we decided to give it a try. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Bakersfield. I really like their sizzling enchiladas. I also enjoyed that they put their soda in mason jars. They have really good chips and salsa. Being from SF and coming up on three Mission burrito, I used to think that valley Mexican food was not as tasty and ASSUMED it was blander. This is the best part about exploring outside of your preferences. You get to find places that are understated; with all the flair and parading of craft food going around these days; it's just amazing to see that many original style restaurants can continue to produce such tasty food. They're not trying to cater to an expanded customer base. Rather, they're embracing and spreading the local culinary flavors of the region so that we can embrace IT! Wow! What a surprise. I was staying at a hotel just down the street from the Original Hacienda Grill on a cold and rainy night and I didn't feel like driving anywhere. So I could go to Denny's or the Original Hacienda Grill and I chose the later. It was wonderful! Small and cozy, with an extensive menu and full bar the salsa was outstanding. I eat a lot of Mexican food and I can't remember when I liked it so much. The enchilada was hot and flavorful, and the taco was big and meaty. After competing at a Strongman competition in Bakersfield, us hungry athletes needed a place to eat. Scrolled through Yelp and found this place. It was close to EFC so we headed here. There was a wait and unfortunately there isn't any where to wait. The restaurant shares a building with another business with a very small area to stand between the two places. Once we got seated, our apps and drinks came out super quick followed closely by our entrees. The food was hot, fresh and delish! Stopped by on a Friday afternoon for a casual lunch with my hubby. Place sits right off the 178 next to the Arby's. And is connected to a loan check cashing place.. lol. Take out a loan before you eat lunch!! Lol Upon walking in the first thing we noticed was how small the inside dining area was, and even smaller the bar area. It wasn't too crowded, about six different small families spread out through out the dining area eating. It was chill. Our waiter was a young man named Christian and he was very attentive. He greeted us when we walked in and took us to our table. Gave us our menu, and a few minutes to look over them, while he went and got our chips and salsa, which were very tasty. The salsa had a nice little kick of heat but not overpowering, and the chips are homemade. The menu is rather small, which is a good thing because the quality remains consistent. Sitting at the booth we noticed how old and outdated the decor was, and it wasn't very clean either, but nothing too horrible at all. My husband ended up ordering the sizzling enchilada plate, and I ended up getting the one item combo plate with a chicken taco. Along with, "The Don" alcoholic drink, and one Pina drink Food came out in a decent amount of time, The sizzling enchiladas were indeed sizzling! And they stayed hot the entire time we were dining too. Nice! Overload on the vegetables though!! So much zucchini!! Lol Hubby wasn't a fan. And as my husband started eating the enchiladas he noticed a good amount of grease at the bottom of the plate too, again nothing too horrible, but definitely worth mentioning. But overall, he really did enjoy his enchilada! And he's picky, so that's a good sign!! Lol. The chicken both in the taco ( shedded) and the enchilada ( cubed) were very good. Amazing and authentic flavors! Very fresh and tender. The taco shell was firm, not soft, but not those hard grocery store type shells either. It was good,.. but from the shell sitting in the beans made it soggy at the bottom as it split all the way down the middle, so I had to use a fork and knife to eat my taco. My hubby gave me his scoop of guacamole, and it really was the bees knees. Very fresh and flavorful! The little scoop of cornbread was alright to me, my husband said you have to eat it with the rice lol, he enjoyed it very much. The beans where creamy and cheesy and had a good taste, and the rice had a nice authentic flavor to it as well, but Neither were piping hot when they were served to us... Luke warm. The Don alcoholic drink my husband got was pretty strong and huge, and was only 11 dollars! so that was pretty awesome. The Pina was okay nothing really to ride home about, but it was refreshing and didn't have a powdery taste or anything, like some do... The 4 stars are for the food, especially the chicken. And the green salsa that came out hot was the best. Plus The service and the overall price for the experience added to the score. I'd like to come back in the future and try something else. This is a hidden gem. Decor and furniture inside is a little outdated but the food is GREAT! We ordered a platter of taquitos which were delicious!
