    Carnitas tacos
    Bethany R.

Came on a Sunday night and ordered at the counter and had our food in about 10 Minutes. We enjoyed our food! We had the carnitas tacos, carnitas burrito, and half order of chips and salsa (which was huge). The carnitas are really yummy, slightly sweet, not a classic Mexican flavor but more an American & Mexican fusion, definitely a beach vibe. It's like if sublime opened a taco shop. Only thing was the space inside is very small, 4 tables and it was too cold to sit outside luckily someone was leaving by the time our food had ready. However The entrance door was a jar and didn't seem to close all the way so we had a heavy breeze right on us. It was very very cold. Besides that it was a good meal.

The best places to eat are often the small hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Sancho's is a small, order at the counter quick Mexican restaurant with graffiti accents on the walls. There are only four tables inside but plenty of tables outside. When driving, note that it shares a building with the Silver Fox on the corner. I can see people missing it when they drive past. Our tri tip burrito and quesadilla were very good. My favorite was the carnitas nachos with their homemade chips. It was delicious.

The decor on this place is super cool!

The Surf and Turf Tacos (shrimp and asada) were really good! People were friendly, food was great, and the old school decor was super fun. I can't believe this was the first time I've been here. I've totally been missing out, and so are you if you don't stop by. Prices are more than fair as well!

I've been to every Sanchos location and the food is consistently good! I love the Yardbird and OG. The sauces they use are delicious and the chips and queso are always a hit. The locations all have their own unique design by local artists. Service is quick and super helpful. I LOVE SANCHOS!

The ambiance it pretty cool but there is defiantly enough inside seating. The service definitely gives a fast food vibe where the workers don't interact without after u get ur food. And the tacos are wayyyy overpriced for what they are. Maybe it's just because it's in Bakersfield so there aren't any other options nearby, but these tacos are not worth $5+ a piece.

In town and wanted a local Mexican restaurant to try. Sancho's Tacos was PERFECT. The chips were made fresh. Guacamole had a lemony taste to it. Salsa was perfection! Shrimp tacos were amazing. The restaurant was very clean with nice decor. Excellent music playing while we ate. Service was fast and prices were excellent. A definite must try and I will definitely return when in town.

This is the spot from now on!

The food is amazing. My first time eating here and I will definitely be back. I had the surf n turf burrito and a skrimp taco and they were delicious. Tri tip has so much flavor and the chipotle sauce on the side was bomb as fuck.

The place is small inside!! There's music playing, and seating outside! The lines can get pretty long, so sometimes there's a wait. The burrito is VERY much stuffed! I enjoyed every bite because each bite had the protein. I tried all their sauces and there's one for each person, sweet, sweet and spicy, very spicy.

    Shitty nachos

Ordered nachos. First off, paid extra for the guacamole and they forgot to add it. By the time you get your nachos home and find out their missing the guacamole, it's too late to go back and get the guacamole... But if the nachos were fire and loaded with cheese and flavor, might not be a big deal. But these $20 nachos were sad... Barely any cheese.. loaded with cilantro and chips. Skimpy with chicken (which I paid extra for) as well.

tacos i can't remember but they're tri tip with their house sauce

the cashier was very serious but he was very attentive, checked on us after first bites. it was also kind of a hassle because we were like 15 people, it was our first time here and you pay upfront so it was a little chaotic ordering. my husband had a nice conversation with him towards the end. all of the food is a twist on traditional mexican food, so if that's what you're looking for, look away. that being said, it's a very delicious place and i was very pleased with the sauces and flavors of everything. i can't remember how long it took but it was pretty quick considering i only saw one cook. the ambiance was nice, the aesthetic is very old school but unique, kind of moody. it was cool. there's limited seating inside but there's additional seating outside, it was just super cold. my family/friends were lowkey questioning whether the food was good, but my mom ended up getting seconds (she's the pickiest). we were in town for a couple of days and she even suggested we go back. 10/10, i'll probably come again.

Dumbest thing ever!!! Tried to order tacos online.....but guess what?!?! It's a taco place that you can't order tacos from! Who wants to go into the three table restaurant if you can't just order the food you want?!? Dumb!!!

I read the reviews & so I decided to try; its definitely a unique & interesting place on the corner in old town Bakersfield; everyone was friendly; but we were really disappointed with the tacos. I tried to try most of them, my favorite ones were the 'Fedérale (carnitas) and surf and turf. unfortunately the surf and turf only had two shrimp but the sauce was good. Everything else was pretty dry, I asked for salsa to go, she stated they each had sauce on them, & then she said she could give me one but then she came back with two despite the fact that I had over $40 worth of tacos which I thought was kind of stingy.. would I go back? No, they're definitely overpriced & the flavors not there and believe me I'm a taco lover and I've had tacos from pretty much anywhere and everywhere ‍

They load you up with meat that are all cleverly seasoned and prepared. Asada has smokey taste to it that I think some places lack. Pastor has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy . Buche is savory and doesn't feel like you're even eating offal. Everything is loaded up! The loaded potato has about a 1/2" lb of meat or more. The quesadillas are plump! Meat almost falls out. Sauces and other accompaniments are self serve and you can get as much as you want. Their chipotle salsa is spicy but damn is it good. They even have spicy onions that I never see. While you wait for your meal and watch the taquero at work, they have beans, tostadas, nopal, grilled onions and jalapenos all just sitting there FOR FREE. They also have some tiny potatoes soaking in the meat juices if you're lucky enough that they haven't run out (also for free!). The experience is just so customer forward and this is a gem that I hope expands even more. They have deals every week from buy one get one tortas, $1 tacos at a certain day at each location. It's often they have a line so consider yourself blessed if there isn't.

Eventually, she asked me about order 31 and repeated the tacos that were in it. I told her those weren't mine because that's not what I thought I ordered, so she offered to remake the food. I then waited another 20 minutes for the remake. When she finally handed me the order, my drink was missing even though I paid for one. She went back to check the ticket and realized she had grabbed the wrong order entirely. At that point, somehow the original order 31 that had been sitting on the counter the whole time magically turned out to actually be my order after all. So my food had apparently been sitting there getting cold while I waited another 20 minutes for a remake that shouldn't have even happened. The entire situation was disorganized, confusing, and handled very poorly.

But on a recommendation from colleagues, I was told to make the trip to the central part of town and check out Birria Bros. I'm a convert: It's the best overall place I've had in town. Their menus is simple and laconic without a lot of options: You pick from taco, burrito, quesadilla, and flautas and then you pick the meat: birria, al pastor, or carne. No craziness or Flamin' Hot anything. This is my kind of establishment already. The service is no-frills: It's an iPad with a cashier, and you get one of those pager things that buzz/sound when your food is ready. And then your food gets prepared in the truck and served. This is all anyone needs in life. I enjoy their quesotacos. They're a bargain and a great size at that. But my favorite are the flautas: They're cruchy, creamy, and cheesy. The combos are good too because the rice and beans are tasty. Their orange-colored salsa is smoky but absolutely spicy - definitely use with caution but entirely worth the burn. I think the best thing about BB is the value, as you get a great product for what you pay. I wish they'd open a location on the Southwest.
