I feel as though Sancho's Tacos has been coming up in my feed, or I hear about the place from friends. I finally had an opportunity to stop in myself and was not disappointed. So good! The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back! read more

Came on a Sunday night and ordered at the counter and had our food in about 10 Minutes. We enjoyed our food! We had the carnitas tacos, carnitas burrito, and half order of chips and salsa (which was huge). The carnitas are really yummy, slightly sweet, not a classic Mexican flavor but more an American & Mexican fusion, definitely a beach vibe. It's like if sublime opened a taco shop. Only thing was the space inside is very small, 4 tables and it was too cold to sit outside luckily someone was leaving by the time our food had ready. The best places to eat are often the small hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Sancho's is a small, order at the counter quick Mexican restaurant with graffiti accents on the walls. There are only four tables inside but plenty of tables outside. When driving, note that it shares a building with the Silver Fox on the corner. I can see people missing it when they drive past. Very charming place to grab delicious Mexican food. I used to go to their Orange County locations growing up. I usually order the og and fish tacos here along w chips (very fresh). They also serve alcohol (beers, white claws, etc). The workers are always so friendly too. Highly recommend this spot! read more

I've been to every Sanchos location and the food is consistently good! I love the Yardbird and OG. The sauces they use are delicious and the chips and queso are always a hit. I went here on a trip to Bakersfield. They have seating outside and 3 tables inside. On a hot day its best to sit inside if you can find a table. The menu is super extensive. I opted for fish, carnitas and shrimp tacos. Theyre larger than street tacos and loaded with delicious and fresh sauces and ingredients. The girl working the register was patient and knowledgeable. The tacos were mind blowing but my favorite was the shrimp tacos but make no mistake they were all good. My coworker said her favorite was the fish. the cashier was very serious but he was very attentive, checked on us after first bites. it was also kind of a hassle because we were like 15 people, it was our first time here and you pay upfront so it was a little chaotic ordering. my husband had a nice conversation with him towards the end. all of the food is a twist on traditional mexican food, so if that's what you're looking for, look away. that being said, it's a very delicious place and i was very pleased with the sauces and flavors of everything. i can't remember how long it took but it was pretty quick considering i only saw one cook. the ambiance was nice, the aesthetic is very old school but unique, kind of moody. it was cool. there's limited seating inside but there's additional seating outside, it was just super cold. my family/friends were lowkey questioning whether the food was good, but my mom ended up getting seconds (she's the pickiest). we were in town for a couple of days and she even suggested we go back. 10/10, i'll probably come again. read more

I read the reviews & so I decided to try; its definitely a unique & interesting place on the corner in old town Bakersfield; everyone was friendly; but we were really disappointed with the tacos. I tried to try most of them, my favorite ones were the 'Fedérale (carnitas) and surf and turf. unfortunately the surf and turf only had two shrimp but the sauce was good. Everything else was pretty dry, I asked for salsa to go, she stated they each had sauce on them, & then she said she could give me one but then she came back with two despite the fact that I had over $40 worth of tacos which I thought was kind of stingy.. would I go back? Came here for lunch for an unexpected lunch date with my girlfriend. Didn't realize how small this place was. Although the inside is a work of art, I was amazed at every detail. I got a California burrito with asada and added shrimp. Usually Cali burritos have meat and shrimp with fries but shrimp was an extra charge. I was surprised at how small the burrito was compared to vatos tacos (which includes shrimp). Over the taste was still good but the 5150 sauce made it better. Worst tacos I've ever had in Bakersfield. 42 dollars for 12 tacos that had very dry tortilla you had to pull just to bite into them. My first time here I got some tacos plain and some with everything for myself and my kids. I also order a tri tip frie but was told I only order a regular one and the tri tip fry was 13 dollars after I already paid 42 for tacos I said no thank you. I wanted try the taco sauces it was 5 dollars for 4 sauces they are not free the girl told me I said okay I don't want them. After we came home my husband and I were disappointed we didn't get the fried we ordered. And the tacos were dry so dry you couldn't even bite into them. Fries regular they said they are crinkle online and they are not they are soggy regular fries. Undercooked not one stiff fry in the batch. I'm disappointed in the food quality and won't be returning. And the girl at the front desk was rude I get she has a job to do and charge me for everything but there was no costumer service there she could see I was disappointed she tried to charge me 5 dollar for sauce and didn't ring me the right fries but didn't even apologize. Or ask if I wanted to pay the difference to get my right order. Overall a big disappointment. read more

When I first heard of this place I tripped out that their logo looked super similar to Vato's Tacos. I don't know who came first, but this place definitely gets 5 stars. Now that I'm much older I try to always see if there are better options before automatically ordering the good stuff and what I had liked about this place was that this was the first vegan taco spot I had ever been to. I've been to another place here in town which also served vegan options, but I feel happy when I see places like this because it shows that whoever is behind the scene doesn't only give a sh!t about their meat eaters, but also gives a crap about their vegan eaters. That in it's own gets an automatic 5 stars. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I can appreciate places that do that because I have some food allergies and people who have food allergies or are vegan for religious reasons or whatever the case is definitely can appreciate places like this. Bakersfield is ready for places like this because there's so many vegans in Bakersfield that I'm surprised there's not more vegan/vegetarian places. For all you meat eaters, don't be scared... they have tons of options for you here too and it's pretty darn good. It's definitely in my cards to get food here again. This place was a super small inside with a 2 person table, a 4 person table, a round booth that seats about 6 people and I believe there's another booth right by the register that seats 4. They do however have some patio seating but this is not the time of year in Bakersfield to be sitting outside. The atmosphere is very unique and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and even held our drinks for us at the counter while we waited on a table to sit at. They checked on us a couple times through out our meal and made sure we were happy! The food is fantastic, the Surf & Turf burrito was perfectly cooked and served hot and fresh. Now what takes this food to the next level is the salsas, for me I'm a huge fan of the "Chubbie & 5150".
