I stopped by here for lunch recently, at Los Tacos (Bakersfield, California), because this place seemed nice from the reviews on Yelp. When I arrived, I glanced through their menu and decided to get the "2 Hardshell Tacos" meal, with a side of rice and beans. I wanted to get one taco with chicken and one taco with beef, but I could not do that. The cashier told me that this was not allowed, and the two tacos had to have the same type of meat. Strange, I thought...I don't see why it makes any difference. Slightly disappointed, I decided on getting both tacos with beef. As I prepared to pay, I then realized that they charge a small fee for their customers who use a credit card. I was a little annoyed with this as well; so, I then decided to pay with cash. After getting a Dr. Pepper as my drink with my meal, I sat in one of their booths inside and waited for my order. The cleanliness inside was just ok. As I waited, I realized that this location does not have an internal restroom for their customers after one of their customers asked to use it. The cashier said that their restroom was outside, around the side of the building. After getting my meal, it appeared appetizing. The tacos were quite delicious, but the rice and beans were just ok. I also got some extra sauces to spice it up a bit. After departing, I noticed the restroom doors on the side of the building; They looked pretty ghetto. The outside landscaping was nicely maintained, but I was annoyed by the group of homeless people that were just camping on the grass outside this location under the trees. If I owned this business, I would ask the city to remove these individuals because they are not only an eyesore, their loitering presents a safety concern and an annoyance for their customers. It may even turn some customers away from this location as a result. Overall, the food here is pretty good, but in my opinion, this location needs to make a few improvements to deserve a higher than average rating. read more

3/5 I really wanted to love this wet burrito. On paper, it sounded like a comfort food home run -- ground beef, smothered in sauce, cheesy goodness. But the execution left me wanting more. The portion was generous, and it definitely looked the part when it arrived. But the first bite told a different story. The ground beef was barely seasoned, just kind of... there. The red sauce covering the burrito didn't have much kick or personality, and the cheese was melted but didn't bring enough richness to pull everything together. There was no real layering of flavor -- just meat, tortilla, and sauce, without any extra textures or contrast. No beans, no rice, no crunch, no fresh toppings to brighten it up. It wasn't bad -- just incredibly plain. Like a meal someone made in a rush without tasting it first. That said, the service was solid, and I know some folks prefer their burritos on the simpler side. But for me, this one needed some love -- maybe some spice, onions, cilantro, or even a squeeze of lime would've helped wake it up. We stopped off at the Tesla charging station and being hungry and not wanting subway, we went to Los Tacos hoping for authentic Mexican food. Unfortunately the food was subpar. I ordered a wet burrito plate (with tortilla on the side) and paid extra for el pastor. My husband got a chorizo plate. Both of us received rice and refried beans. We got an iced tea. The rice seemed old and was not tasty, the refried beans were the usual canned kind, and the El pastor and chorizo with eggs were just low quality and not tasty. The absolute worst thing was that the water for the iced tea wasn't filtered so it tasted so bad, we dumped it out. I am DEFINITELY going to subway next time. read more

I have been to this restaurant many times and have nothing but good things to say about it. The service is always friendly and fast whether you go through the drive through or inside. The food portion sizes are good in comparison to the prices. One thing to note is that you do spend less if you bring cash over debit/credit card. I've been coming to this spot since 2006/2007 and THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. Back then, there wasn't many SOLID Mexican spots in the Rosedale/Oildale area so I consider them an OG spot out here. I haven't ate here in about 4 years due to moving out of the area but I came back to eat here and yesterday and it was just as good as I remembered them to be. Great menu. Variety of everything which is what I like most. Prices are good considering the yummy food that you'll be getting. Portions are large too. Went with a chimichanga with shredded beef and that thing was HUGE. Cooked to perfection and it had so much good flavor. Easily would rate this dish a 10 out of 10. Also got a two item combination plate where I got a cheese enchilada and a crispy shredded beef taco with a side of rice and beans and it was all so good! Would rate that dish a 10 out of 10 as well. The tiniest spice flavor and good green salsa to add to the overall flavor of the burrito. Without the salsa it would have been pretty dry. BEST CHIMICHANGAS!!! Bakersfield has ALOT of great Mexican food and this is one of the spots to try. It's a small mexican fast food restaurant with a drive thru , off the 99 freeway making it a convenient stop for us. Its very casual dining and you order first and then take a seat like at a regular fast food restaurant. Servers are always attentive and welcoming. I always get the shredded beef chimichanga and it comes with sour cream, salsa, and guac. Its HUGE by the way. Two people could definitely share this plate. My wife really enjoys the cheese enchiladas. They taste very home like and I appreciate that! Very good food in general. read more

Honest review time... Went here for the first time and afterwards kinda wished I'd been here before. I've lived down the street for years and never came by till now... The staff person I spoke with was AMAZING!! If he took your order every time, you'd love this place. Very welcoming and tried super hard to please. Went inside to order, but they also had a drive through for convenience. Inside was super clean and smelled great. Could smell the AMAZING smell of whatever meat that was cooking and it made my experience even better. For the food, I saw Chile Rellanos on the menu, so I asked if it could be made into a burrito. Mr. Amazing said it could and we were off...They made a veggie burrito, but added 2 Chile Rellanos and Shredded Beef. This thing was humongous, I bet 2+ lbs if I weighed it. Tasted GREAT!!! Only negative point was that they forgot to cut off the super hard stems of the peppers. If you read this, it would be great added to the menu, I will be back to buy again in the future!!! Also had hard taco dorado type tacos with shredded beef. They were REALLY good as well. I would come back just for those if nothing else was any good. Also had regular street taco like soft taco with Al pastor for the meat. These were good too and total adding to the experience, but were just ok. Nothing wrong with them, just better in other places. Would I order them again? Yes, definitely, would I go out of the way for them, probably not. I will try other meats and let you know my favorites in another review. Definitely loved the salsa too! This is my friend's favorite place for fast Mexican food. We went to grab dinner. We ordered a cheese quesadilla, Chile relleno and cheese enchilada combo and cinnamon sugar chips. Cheese quesadilla wasn't browned and the cheese wasn't melted. It was cold inside. Ick. The dog enjoyed it. Cheese enchilada and rice and beans were good. Nothing spectacular, but tasty. The relleno was fried nicely and covered with the same red sauce as the enchilada. I'm not sure what it was, but it had a gritty texture. The cinnamon sugar chips were the best part of the meal. Hot. Food is always good, the service not so much. The older short heavyset woman with glasses is always rude, the two younger heavyset girls have the same attitude. For a place called Los Tacos.... you wouldn't think that a burrito would be the most notable thing on the menu. The grande burrito.... for thirteen bucks.... will feed a small family. Heck, it might outweigh some members of that family. This thing is about 18" long. It uses multiple tortillas. It has its own zip code. I can't comment on taste. I was traveling alone and didn't want my gas mileage to suffer by having to take leftovers with me. I did see it being served to a table of tradesmen, who shared it. I ordered the flautas plate. For nine bucks, with a drink, this is a good deal. The flautas were fresh, crispy, and the filling was tender. Salsa was good. Smokey, enough heat, good flavor. I want to bring several friends next time to try that burrito. read more

Since the Los Tacos on Wible Road was replaced by the Tacos La Villa corporation, I have had a difficult time trying to find a restaurant with delicious crispy tacos for less than $4. However, I remembered that this Los Tacos location was still open! For about $11, I got 4 crispy shredded beef tacos, and sides of rice and beans. The tacos were very crispy and stuffed with a good amount of meat. The green salsa is the best in town! The refried beans were perfect, and so was the rice. I truly hope this place remains open through this pandemic. read more
