So, I have been wanting to come back for a little while now, but I just haven't had a chance to come back until recently. We had eaten a late breakfast that day, so we decided we would grab a late lunch and get those papas de tacos we love so much. When we got there, there was a family already sitting on the table; however, they didn't setup their other table or their canopy. It was a nice day, sunny and a little bit breezy, so no canopy was fine. Their extra table and extra chairs were folded on the side of their red truck. The reason why I felt the need to re-review this visit is because this visit did not feel the same versus all the times we have come. Each visit it felt welcoming, but I did notice the owner wasn't present, so I don't know if that's what happened. They used to give fried potatoes while you wait, but I don't think they do that anymore. Anyway, the paying part was the weirdest part of our visit. So she takes our order and says she'll take the payment after we eat and I thought I heard her wrong so I just waited. Then she hands us our food and then says again she'll take our payment after we eat. I grab both plates and I didn't have any hands free and my husband had grab drinks next door so he didn't have hands free. I said look I have to pay now because there's no tables for us to sit at and we probably have to eat in the car. She then starts talking about it's difficult because she has to put the machine here and plug it here and so forth... Long story short, they didn't setup the table and chairs for us, us paying it immediately was an inconvenience to them, and we sat in our car eating. I was a huge fan of this place and I have told coworkers, family members, and random people that this is the spot for papas de tacos and for tortas and I hope they just had an off day. read more

I can't pronounce what I ordered, but I will be ordering it frequently in the future. Half torta with the 2 potato tacos and a bag of yummy sauce to drizzle over it. I can't believe this place is right by my workplace and and I've been missing out for all this time. Delicious food, good value, super friendly service, and it only took a few minutes to get my order to go. Look for the red truck between Shake N Buns and the gas station. You won't regret it! read more

Lonchería otro rollo has the best tortas ahogadas. The meat is so tasty and the salsa is delicious. I enjoy drenching my torta with the sauce and the spicy sauce is so good. The ladies are always nice especially the owner, she is so welcoming and always treats everyone with respect. My only complain is that I ordered the combo plate that includes 2 tacos de papa and half a torta ahogada, the food was delicious but the portion of the torta was way to small it was probably about 2 inch long. My personal opinion is that I would like a bigger portion of torta even if I have to pay a little extra. read more

Make your taste buds do the happy dance! I recommend the Tortas Ahogadas, a simple sandwich you dip/drench in red sauce. Go light on the salsa until you know your strength level (it's HOT). Tacos De Papa are a must, order them and be happy. Still hungry? Try the hot dog. This dog is loaded and served with fresh fried potatoes. So good! Call ahead to avoid a wait. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Average wait time 15-20 min. Worth it. read more

Me and my S.O. Travel from Southern California to Northern California often for family, we have now stopped here twice and it's now my absolute favorite food stop on our travels. The experience is amazing from start to end, the service is outstanding and very personable. that Carries all the way through until you are leaving and the person working the register waves you off and wishes you safe travels and happy holidays. Its not often you find a gem like this.. reasonable prices, amazing food, and terrific helpful service. I will definitely return as often as possible and look forward to it each time. read more

For a unique grind, their combo is particularly novel. A braised beef sando covered in a brothy, spicy salsa with a couple submerged quesotacos under a bed of cabbage with chunks of pork belly? It's simply called the combo (I think), and boy oh boy, was it a knock out. I'm quite glad I came here on a whim, looking for something new, and just asked for the best thing on the menu. The woman working was sincerely stoked to share her food with a new customer. Likely because she knows it's *that* good. Will be back the next time I'm passing through town. Absolutely. read more

I was a little disappointed with the overall taste of my food... Not saying that it was bad but definitely underwhelming based on all the hype I had read and the consistently high reviews... The quality was good but it just wasn't much to it... If that says anything... Maybe I'll order the wrong thing. I ordered an Asada Torta. The service was excellent... And I will probably give this place another try and just order something different but I will still give it a five based on my overall experience.. The jury is not in on the food here read more

Most restaurants chase the hot "new" trend like the "hot Cheetos on everything " or Berria on everything from ramen to quesadillas... Not in Otro Rollo!. The "Lonche Gemma" is my personal favorite but the original "torta ahogada " is the family favorite. To anyone that finds themselves driving through Bakersfield, you are in luck! Question: why aren't all of you here at this lunch trailer? Instead of going to Mexican restaurants that serve the same old s*** , you should really try something different but tasty by coming to this lunch trailer. It is nestled in between the Chevron and Hughes Lane. You may miss it if you blink. The food is AWESOME!!!!!! So don't miss it. My tamale was so light and yummy. The masa wasn't heavy like most places. The bread that they use for their lonches and torts doesn't leave you feeling guilty about nada! PURE FLAVOR IS THE EORD You HAVE to try the tacos canasta- it was to f-ing DIE FOR!!!!! 2 people can eat like kings for $15, I haven't had such great Mexican food since I moved to Bakersfield from East LA!!!!! read more

They fulfill our craving for a torta ahogada and crispy potato tacos. The quality and consistency always remains The SAME! We call in our order , it's done within 15-20 min . The tacos de canasta come in pairs. They are soft style. We ordered the ones with chicharron. They pack a flavor and texture that wonderfully contrasts that of the torta and crunchy tacos. Recommended you do the "combinacion" to get half torta and potato taco deal. As many here suggest, do the "Combinacion Gemma" ! read more

This was one of our favorite places to eat when we lived in Bakersfield. Years later, and we still exit White To stop by there whenever we pass through. The employees there are always incredibly nice, the wet tortas are smothered in this red spicy sauce that is soooo flavorful. and potato hard tacos always hit the spot. This time, we got a sandwich they wasn't wet and soaked in the spicy red sauce. It had mustard and jalapeño and it was perfection. If this review is useless because I can't remember the actual name of the food, then I'm sorry! But the employees will be able to help you pick what to order just by you describing it. And yes, it's in a parking lot next to a gas station. There is tended seating. They take cash and card. Enjoy! read more

Loncheria Otro Rollo is definitely "Otro Rollo!" I am personally from the state of Jalisco in Mexico. There are many Mexican places all over town but none of them have Tortas Ahogadas! I can't put it into words to explain the joy I felt when I saw this little place of Jalisco in Bakersfield. Of course the flavor isn't 100% spot on as the authentic ones in Mexico but it is really close, the nostalgia is definitely there when you take a bite. If you're ever craving a classic torta ahogada in Bakersfield this is definitely the place! read more

If you want to find the world's best street burrito, look no further. Whenever I'm craving a California burrito, immediately head to this food truck. For $12, they stuff in fries, guacamole, sour cream, and your choice of meat. The employees like to keep the line moving, which is great especially during lunch. I don't live in the area. I live 3 hours away and I need to go and buy tacos to take home. I have not had any tacos at this price at this flavor in so long, the price, the flavor, no way any place can beat it. I hope Birria Bros is making so much money. I will be hitting their spot before I leave town, where I live, there is NOTHING that beats their flavor, thank you for a great dinner in a strange town. An edit: I actually went to the location the next day., I ate the most tasty quesatacos ever. Inhad a Mexican Coke that only cost $3.. the best hot salsa. The young man taking the orders was super friendly. I also went back AGAIN to order food to take home,. I live 3 hours away and I was not about to leave empty handed, the same young man helped me with my to go order and was so nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the quality just isn't what it used to be. The last two times I've ordered, there…read morehave been issues, and today's order was especially disappointing. My tacos were missing the generous portions I've come to expect. It honestly seemed like there was only a couple of tablespoons of meat left, so it was split between both tacos. What I got were tiny, over-charred crumbs rather than the flavorful juicy meat I usually enjoy. The avocado topping was also about a quarter of the amount normally served. I almost couldn't see it on the second taco. I actually rolled the tacos up, and they looked more like barely filled taquitos than tacos. I'm genuinely confused about what's changed because these have always been my favorite tacos. I've given them several chances, hoping things would improve, but I think this may be my last visit.

Everything seems very clean and loved the choice of offering instead of the classic chips and salsa. Can't wait to come back

Their menu consist of tacos, menudo (tripe soup), birria de res (beef stew) and birria de chivo (braised goat). Their birria de chivo is my favorite because the stew is delicious with the perfect amount of chilies and spices; and the meat is super tender. To go with all the goodness they make yellow homemade corn tortillas! They have a nice spot with a roof top to sit and eat with tables placed 6 feet apart for social distancing. However, I prefer to take it to go and place it in a bowl and add all the toppings that make it so pretty and enhance the incredible flavor of the birria.
